Good morning,

Just gettting the thread started...

I am getting ready to do a Pump workout...the second one that I got by accident.

Will check back in a bit....

had trouble signing on and posting this morning so ended up with 2 threads use this one. Anyone else have trouble with this site today?

This morning I did Beach Body Pump & Shred. I foud that neither of these workouts does any bicep or tricep work...which seems strange to me. Maybe they are worked in the next workout, or one down the road That gives me an excuse to do my favorite BUrn Sets Bi' & Tris.

Lori, thanks for the birthday wishes...it was actually last Sunday...just delay in some celebrations due to everyone's busy schedules.

Right now I am using ny iPad to post as I cannot even get to the forums on my desktop PC :(...

I will try back later...

Happy belated birthday, Deb!

This morning I did Athletic Training (56 min.).

The weather yesterday for the sheep to shawl gathering at Rural Lands was spectacular. First the border collies do their thing with the sheep which is pretty amazing to watch. We couldn't bring Max because he would probably disrupt the whole thing. Then there's a sheep shearer, followed by spinners and weavers, so you can see the whole process. DH sold quite a bit of his meat. Interesting: one woman bought a lot of it because her son has celiac disease and if you look at the contents of meat packages at the grocery stores, they say there are additives, and at least at our local Stop and Shop, most of the meat is from Uruguay. Who knew? Uruguay?? I don't buy any meat anyway because all of our meat is homegrown from our own pigs, chickens, and cattle.

Josie, I have been using a cookbook called "Eating Well for Two" that is excellent in terms of calories. This week I am doing pork tenderloin in a ginger-mango sauce with baby sweet potatoes and a kale salad with chopped dates, parmesan, and almonds (epicurious has this recipe); then I will be doing a recipe from Rachael Ray of mini-meatballs on an antipasto salad (olives, artichokes, pepperoncini, romaine hearts, mozzarella balls, basil, roasted red pepper, genoa salami and provolone picante) with garlic bread for two meals. Tonight and tomorrow is just grilled sausages, mac and cheese, and a salad. I like to plan two meals at a time so I don't have to cook every night. I enjoy working out a week menu and then shopping for it all at once. DH usually tells me what meats are available.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!

Good evening ladies!

Another nice day in New England. My brother visited today and was a nice visit. We have had some tension the past few months but all is good now. :)

This morning I tried to do Ride but my left peddle on my spin bike kept falling off! Was extremely frustrating. Ended up giving up on the bike and doing step portion of athletic training 2 times then following up with cross fire's firewalker tabata's 3 times. All and all made a pretty intense workout. I emailed my bike manufacturer of the problem I have been having. They have been pretty responsive so I am sure this will be corrected soon.

Garance...I am hungry after reading your post. My poor husband never gets this. I am a woman of convenience. I have 4 brothers and no sisters. My brothers are amazing cooks. Not sure what happened to me!

Deb...i did not try and sign on this morning so not sure what was going on. :(

I am off tomorrow! Yeah!!!

Hey all,

I did a CC this morning, still my favorite treadmill workouts.

Garance, that sheep event sounds like fun. I have to say, if we were in your neck of the woods, we would buy our meat from you and your DH too! Maybe if we are ever out that way we will drop by and pick some up. I would love to taste something that is not from a supermarket. Those meals sound delicious! YUM.

Lori, it sounds like you had a really nice weekend, except for the bike peddle of course..Have a great day off today..

Nothing much here...work, then class tonight. I think I may take Wed afternoon off too, I need to get some clothes ready to pack. I'm behind again as usual in switching the season's clothes...nothing like picking out what you are wearing from a Rubbermaid container...sheesh....

Hi to Valerie, Josie, & Judy...

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

I am relaxing on the couch enjoying the morning. Love having a Monday off. At some point I plan on disc 1 of Meso 2. Yeah excited to start this 2nd cycle! Walking Chester is on the agenda today too. We never got to go yesterday and he will not let me ignore it 2 days in a row.

Deb....I laughed out loud when I read your comment about the rubbermaid bins as I am still doing the exact same thing. Took forever for the nice weather to finally come to us. So now that it is finally here I am behind in switching things out.

Have a great day all!

We had a major garden max day Saturday. we are having a stretch of lovely weather, perfect for planting warm weather crops. did it all Saturday, major work day.

sunday we did a street ride , 25 miles 2 hours 10 minutes. I'm looking at bikes, want to upgrade to a nicer bike. thought I could try my neighbors new bike but was way too big and didn't want to change any adjustments since she just had it fitted to her.
I dug out my old bike info.... its a 45 cm frame... very small. no bike shops routinely carry them. the standard floor model is a 52 cm. way too big... I'm so stretched out I can barely reach the brakes. I don't feel as short, but apparently a very short torso in bike terminology. it looks like I will order without test riding. one more place to try ... we're going to ride again today.

we've been adjusting the tilt of the saddle and getting some relief from discomfort. it seems I need the nose of the seat tipped down slightly.

Uruguay!! I try hard to buy locally but it's getting impossible to do. ingredients from all over the globe...

all my stuff hangs in the closet ..... I don't change things much from summer to winter. switch the order of things a little so the capris and short sleeves move forward. retirement gives you a pretty simple wardrobe.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Burn Sets for ch, ba, sh (50:43). This is my active recovery week.

I can't believe how gorgeous the weather has been. Another sunny, dry, 70s day. We need rain, though.

Deb, DH lets customers go into his freezers and choose what they want and leave the money in a lock box up in his big barn. That way he doesn't have to interrupt his work or make an appointment to see a customer. If you ever come this way I would make sure he gave you a tour. He has a little ATV golf cart vehicle and drives up into the woods to feed and water the pigs. Max is hilarious--he just races after DH, barking excitedly. I'm sure you would have been entranced with the border collies. They look absolutely obsessed when they herd the sheep.

Lori, I seldom choose really difficult recipes because I don't want cooking to turn into a chore. I enjoy cooking too much and am always on the lookout for interesting recipes that come together easily.

Did you ever find jeans you like, Valerie?

Hi Ladies,

It is very quiet here today, Stacey called in sick :) I will be doing a fit test when I get home and maybe a spin workout.

Garance, thank you for the book recommendation, I also like easy recipes that don’t take much time to prepare.

Valerie, when I first started to ride, I had the same problem with my saddle. My friend Doreen saw that I was not comfortable and she just knew what was worn by looking at the seat and adjusted it by tilting it downwards. When I got fitted for my bike, it was done by a guy :(

Lori, enjoy your day off!

Deb, Happy belated birthday!

Hi to Joan and Judy!

Josie

Hi Everyone,

Sunday I went mountain biking with my husband. We went to Island Lake Park, about 20 miles from here. The weather was perfect! No crashes but I must have bumped into something as I have a nice big bruise on my leg today.

This morning I did a spin workout. Tomorrow morning will be an upper body workout, probably Slow & Heavy.
Wednesday will be a rest or easy day.

Garance-that post made me hungry! Everything sounds so good!

Valerie-I had a 43 cm frame road bike but it was a little too small for me. 52 is probably too big for me too.

Deb-Happy Belated Birthday!

Hi Josie and Lori!

Judy

Good morning,

No workout today, although I did not go to class last night, John had his CPR renewal class, and I didn't feel like driving over there myself with Kylee.

Lori, sounds like you had a lovely day off. :)

Valerie, I will keep that saddle tip handy in case I have the same issues with my bike seat. I'm not sure what size bike I have, I am only 5'3 in and is seems pretty short to me. Do you have an upright one? I used to have a 10 speed where you had to be bent over to ride and I opted for the one that you sit straight up this time. We have an older home and the closets are tiny, no way I can fit 2 seasons worth of clothes in mine, and we even each have the ones from the other 2 bedrooms that we use!

Garance, I would definitely stop by there to get some of that wonderful meat and to see Max in action if we are ever in that area!

Josie, does the program have you doing the fit tests to see if you are progressing? I like that idea. Nice that your chatty co-worker was not there yesterday...peace and quiet for a change.

Judy, thanks for the birthday wishes..so you have both a mountain and road bike?

Work, then an appointment for Keegan massage therapy...he seems better again...so we are only going every other week for about 20 minutes..

Take care,

Irongrl, it's funny... until 3-5 yrs ago I don't remember having a problem finding a bike that fit. my current one was the only one in the shop that fit... easy decision ... I remember trying several WAY too big. most of my old bikes had the women's frame with the dropped down top tube. 43 cm ... yes! thank you, I was starting to feel like a midget! I really am fairly average height. I see so many women riding these days so maybe they just order a smaller frame and hope it fits. I'll be calling a couple retailers today
to check on sizes, but I want to buy from the shop where I'll get service, and don't want to drive 40 miles for that.
Deb, I've always had dropped bars. sitting upright puts all the weight on your sit bones, butt. for distances it's unpleasant. very. I prefer leaned forward. Set a bubble level across the seat and start with "level". if that's not comfy, wiggle it downward slightly and re-tighten the screw & test. I had to raise the seat up a little to compensate for the slight downward angle.
mountain bikes are more upright but you don't sit on the seat constantly either. Irongrl, I am currently sporting a huge bruise on my calf from a mt bike pedal that got away from me. is that Island lake Park in Idaho?

DH says he's 5'6" I don't believe it. he has a 52 cm but his torso is way longer, he reaches forward easily. bikes with smaller frames are available but the shops here seldom even have a 50 cm one. looking online they're made in 48, 45, 44, depending on brand. I'll be able to get one but probably won't get to compare. I'd love to be able to test a Trek vs a Specialized vs a Cannondale .

we did 30 miles yesterday. tipping the seat downward very slightly helped. amazing what a tiny angle change can do.

Lynda, jeans shopping took a back burner with bike shopping taking over. 'to try" list is made and not been acted on yet.

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Pure Spice (58 min.). I also went on a long walk with Max yesterday evening. The weather has been so beautiful it seems a waste not to spend more time outside. Sounds like tomorrow will finally take a turn toward clouds and rain, so I am practicing carpe diem.

I have been loving my ipad lately. It's so easy to take and send pictures compared to trying to do it on a pc.

Lori, how do you like meso 2? I can barely remember it because it was so long ago. I will have to review my book before next week.

Judy, where are you located? Lori and I are in MA, Deb is in NY, Josie in California, Valerie in Washington state, and Joan is in Missouri.

Josie, how's the wicked witch of the west?

Good morning all,

I am only working 1/2 day today, need to get my clothes and stuff ready for the trip. We are leaving early tomorrow morning, but will be packing the cargo carrier tonight with the large things like crates etc. We just bought one of those Thule "things" so that the car isn't crammed with stuff plus the dogs in the back. I want to try crating them in the car, rather than having them jumping all over me, front to back. We'll see how that works.

Valerie, how tall are you again? I don't remember any exact measurement of the bike I bought...the guy just kept bringing them out and I would ride around the track in the store until I found one that felt good. I have yet to ride long enough to see if the seat would bother me. I think 10 miles is the farthest we have gone.

Anybody check out the thread on that new stretching DVD..."Lastics"? it looks good and has great reviews....supposedly a "new" type of stretching called athletic stetching...only I cannot see myself stretching for an hour. Check it out.

Off to get ready, will check back later...

Deb, crating the doggies could be a safety issue. if they're rambunctious it's a distraction could interfere with driving. if you were in a wreck, or one jumped out at a gas stop it could be awful. I vote for crating them. way better control if something ever goes sideways.

we keep talking about getting a car top carrier but never have. our garage doors have an arch. center is high but sides slope. if someone ever forgot it was on, we could do a lot of damage, both the carrier and the garage opening would be toast, not to mention the roof racks the carrier is mounted to. we're height marginal even on the smaller flatter ones, which of course are more expensive. but it would be great to have the extra non visible storage. I don't think break ins are too much of an issue whereas anything sitting visible in your car is almost an invitation.

I'm about 5' 2.5". depends on who measures... never quite made it to 5'3" though I used to say that was my height. closer to 5'2" now.
went back and looked at bikes again... he adjusted some things on a 52 cm frame so I could ride it fairly comfortably. there are infinite ways to tweak these things, and a lot depends on your proportions and posture when riding. also the kind of riding you do or want to do. I would love to do longer distances but won't be racing (like triathalons) so I want lighter, smooth shifting, a shifter that isn't too hard on my left hand which has some arthritis issues.

Did half of x train #1 ch, sh, but dh got home way early and I needed to get working on dinner sooner than planned. will mt bike today

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did premix 2 on Burn Sets--bis, tris, and core 1 (47:30). Also went for a long walk last night after dinner with Max. I told him that it would probably be our last walk for awhile because the weather won't be ideal. We will be getting some much-needed rain.

Have a fun trip, Deb! It's probably best for the dogs to be crated if they like jumping around. Max is pretty good in the car, but he likes to rub his nose on the windows and gets all whiney when he sees something 'exciting' (for him, anyway).

Off to another checkup on my veins. My legs do look much, much better, but I suspect he will say one more appointment for the veins down by my ankles. We'll see.

Good morning ladies!

Rainy here today and the next few days. been beautiful the last week so really can't complain.

garance - I am loving meso 2. I have only done the first workout but have done one of the Leg workouts several times. I purchased the download a few months back. Felt so great after working out on Monday. I love my Ipad too. I have the Ipad 2 and have not felt the need to upgrade yet. Does everything I need it to do. Wish you well with your doctors visit today.

Powerwalked on TM instead of running. Legs are on the agenda when I get home today so need to save my strength.

Deb - I agree with the crate. Especially with long drives. have a great trip. Ohio correct?

No spining for a while. Company is sending me a new left crank at no charge. Hoping i am mechanical enough to change it out.

Have a great night all!

Hi Ladies,

I took a couple of days off ;) Today’s workout will be cardio power resistance.
I have not lost anymore weight, but I do look thinner and my clothes feel great.

I have been working out in my garage and loving it. I get a nice breeze, so I have been
doing my workout after work.

Deb, the program has a fit test every two week to measure improvement. It is amazing how much you improve in a two week period.

Garance, the witch has been very quiet lately. I think that HR has talked to her.
I know that it is killing her to be nice ;)

Hi to Valerie, Lori and Judy!

Josie

Hi ladies--

This morning I did Jazzercise Burlesque (45 min.).

Happy travels, Deb!

It turns out that I have two saphenous veins in my left leg. They closed one of them, but now the other one is giving me problems, so I will have to do another vein closure. My right leg looks great, but my left is only modestly better, so I guess I will go ahead and do that again. And then I will probably have another session of sclerotherapy. Gosh this has been a lengthy process.

Josie, you lost a total of 14 lbs.? I'm sure it's noticeable. Glad to hear the witch is off your case.

Lori, it's raining here, too, and everything is really getting that lovely lime green of spring. Unfortunately the rain also knocked off most of the blooms on our plum trees. They were so beautiful for about a week.

Yes .... long road for vein treatment. they always make it sound like it's all over in an hour.
we watched Lincoln last night. I wanted WANTED to like this movie, I really did, but OMG it was tedious and boring. I know the subject matter is very important and historically it was probably accurate without getting too "Hollywooded-up", but I would not willingly sit thru that again. it didn't help that we got about 4 phone calls that had to be dealt with in the first 30 minutes but I don't think I missed much. DDL was excellent in the role but the movie overall seemed ponderous and dark.

the big news is we bought new bikes yesterday. we both bought full carbon bikes, a Trek for me, a Specialized for DH. we will get them next week.
As planned, we went on a mountain bike yesterday for 2 hours, and stopped at the bike shop on the way back. tired of dealing with problems with my old bike and my sore butt, so will trade it in. I may have been riding a "too small" bike all this time. the new one has much better shifter and a shock absorber system for the seat post that should cut down soreness. I can't wait!!
