Peeps are in the House

Morning Peeps!

Whoa...I can't believe I'm up this early and starting our thread:eek: My dog woke me up this morning wanting to play and I couldn't get back to sleep.

My chest is so sore after doing MIS yesterday. I haven't done that one in over a year and my body is rebeling. I have cardio on schedule today and will decide which one after a few more cups of coffee.

Waves HI to everyone! BBL.

JJ

JJ—Thanks for saying that you enjoy hearing about Africa. That makes me feel good. I’ll try to keep sharing in bits and pieces. And I'm joining you in the "sore" category after KPC yesterday.

Heather—You are such a sweetheart. The Fiber One bars are at all grocery stores—not just health food stores. Most packages to Uganda take about 4 weeks. It can be longer or shorter, but that’s average.

Karin-I’m impressed with your “real life workouts.” I always feel proud of myself when those happen for me. Sometimes I can be frustrated that I’ve missed my Cathe video, and then I remind myself, “This is the whole point, isn’t it? So I can do these things (either fun like the biking or necessary like the leaves) and not kill myself?!” For example, yesterday a friend had borrowed my car, so I had to manage on my bike. Most everything is close here, so it was all fine until I had to bring my 75 pound DS home on the back of it. Yikes. (And that was AFTER KPC!) I was worn out but proud of myself.

Wendy—Yes! I definitely want those zucchini and green bean salad recipes. Those sound delicious. I’m sorry about DH’s job stress. It’s hard when the DH has stress, isn’t it. We want to help, but our feminine help can sometimes seem so patronizing. I’ve been trying to learn how to console and encourage in a masculine way. It’s tough! Prayers and best wishes to you.

And, speaking of DH, I know that you all know that I was TOTALLY kidding about the nanny versus DH2 yesterday, but I feel honor-bound to add a disclaimer. :D I have ONE husband whom I dearly love and have been married to 13 years and plan to be married to for the rest of our lives. While certainly not as intuitive in the “house help” department as some females, he is a wonderful DH and extremely helpful.

In particular, he is in charge of the nightly “kid routine” for our children ages 8, 6, and 4. (No small feat.) As soon as we finish dinner, I clean up the table and the kitchen, and he herds them all through the process of vitamins, baths, and teeth brushing. The timing is perfect for us to both finish about the same time, and we can collapse on the couch together to read, watch TV, etc. I am so blessed that I have a husband who is thoughtful of me and the kids and doesn’t abandon us after dinner to do all of the above tasks on our own while he goes to veg out.

Today was a 4 mile run. I was proud of myself because I did NOT feel like working out ahead of time. But DH and friend were setting up for P90X, so that helped me at least manage to get my shoes on. Great music on the iPod kept me going.

Hello to all the rest of you to come!

Guten Morgen, My Fellow Peeps!

Drip...drip...that's the pot o' joe brewing right now for you all. :)

I'm off today--my Mom is sick and cannot take Houdini, so I'm staying home with an unplanned off day. Good thing all my travel is done for our last football game next week and I'm all caught up on my NBA travel, so it's a good day for Grandma to call in sick, LOL! I do have to stop by the church and pick up a volunteer project--bending the branches off fake greenery for a children's make a wreath Advent project--which should be interesting because while I can cook really well, I am AWFUL at crafts. AWFUL! I can't scrapbook...make a wreath...sew a button on...yet I can make a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 from scratch. How is that possible???? So wish me luck I can figure out how to bend the branches off without destroying them...

I got up this morning and did the High Step Training. I liked it! I stumbled a bit through the cardio (since I'm doing an elevated step, which I never do, and I always stumble the first few times through a new video) but I think it's a good once a week video for calorie burning. The only negative for me was five rounds of step ups. I think two rounds would have been enough and I would have liked to see some other leg exercises. There is no core work, either, but that's what I have Core Max for, LOL. For me this is definitely a weekend workout because the whole thing took an hour, but the premixes are about 30 minutes if you elect cardio + legs or cardo + upper body.

Laura--I will post those recipes for you! And thanks for the words about DH's situation, that was good advice. :)

JJ--I haven't done MIS in like three years. I think I still have it on VHS...the question is, where is it buried in my house!!?? I remember the abs were tough on that one...

Ellie--So glad the squash dinner was a hit!! Don't you feel like SuperMom, feeding your family such nurishing food? I know I do when I get a hit with Houdini, LOL! I'll post some quick & easy ones for you to try.

Is that the hiss of a full coffee pot I hear? Why yes, it is...Off to grab a cup and be back throughout the day...

:) Wendy

Recipes

Stuffed zucchini/tomatoes:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/...cchini-and-red-bell-peppers-recipe/index.html

Here's the green bean salad:

Green Bean & Cherry Tomato Salad From Kythera

1 1/2 pounds slender green beans, trimmed, cut into 2-inch pieces
2 pints of cherry tomatoes, roasted
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
2 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
1 clove of garlic , minced
1 heaping of teaspoon dried Greek oregano
1/4 cup chopped fresh Italian parsley
salt and pepper to taste

Place your cherry tomatoes on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place in a pre-heated 450F oven and roast for 20-30 minutes or until they skins have cracked & shriveled a bit. Allow to cool and set aside.
Place a large pot of water on your stove-top and when it comes to a boil, add a good amount of salt and and place your beans in the water. Boil for 3-5 minutes until just tender (but still crisp).
Strain your beans and place in an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
In a large boil, add your balsamic vinegar, garlic, mustard and oregano and begin whisking in your olive oil. Add a little salt and pepper and now add your beans, cherry tomatoes and chopped parsley.
Toss the salad so that the dressing coats all the components. Ad just seasoning with salt an pepper and serve at room temperature or cold.

Now, off to look through my binder for recipes for Ellie!

Hi everyone! I promise to do personals tomorrow. I just really need to not fart around too much and finish up this freakin' presentation. I worked on it last night and I feel in a good place right now, but I have a lot to do otherwise at work today so I just need to go full speed ahead.

I hope everyone has a great day.

ETA - I just purchased 4DS off the yaya swap for $50. I am so excited. I figured that no one would buy it for me so I found a deal and went for it. I can't wait to do the weight work from it.

I'm back. I did CCV6 on my elliptical and I'm pooped! Do you ever have one of those days where you just struggle to get thru a workout? Well, today was it for me:confused:

Laura~ High fives for getting thru your run even though you didn't want to do it. Music (and CC) can be very motivating. Will you be able to use your iPod when you run your HM in Feb? I've been reading that many races are banning music players for runners. I don't think I could make it without music.

Wendy~ I sympathize...I'm not much of a crafter either:eek: However, I was elected to make all the player flags for DD varsity soccer team. Luckily I can sew. You'll have to give MIS a try again.....it definitely has the "abs from hell" section.

Karin~ Have fun with 4DS.....it has an awesome upper body premix. Let us know how your presentation goes tomorrow.

Catherine~ How are you doing? I have a session with Andrea tomorrow and hopefully will get to do TGU. I'll let you know how it goes.

HI to all the peeps who follow:D

JJ

Hey gang, just crazy busy this week. Can not seem to find the time to doa any posting other than quickies.

Hopefully, I can get back later and do personals ;)

Tragic day here

Our dear friend and the boy's pediatrician house burnt down early this am. The police were forced to rip the Dr. from his home while he was desperatley trying to save his wife. She perished in the fire. He is at the trauma center .
We as a family and community are devastated. I worked with him at the local hospital for many years (in Peds) and we became close friends. He and his wife were pillars of our community. We are praying for him as well as the entire town. I was on the news www.wpvi.com but was hardly able to make much sense. This Dr was the primary comfort for my children with their multiple health problems. I will not tell them right now but I hurt for them too. I'll be away from the forums for awhile as we grieve.
