Peeping in on Saturday

Morning Peeps:

Just wanted to get us started. I'm still not feeling 100% yet but I do have CCPP on tap this morning. I think it will just be a walk/jog for me as I don't think my stomach could take sprints. This is such a bummer. I booked a room at a 5 star hotel in Mpls to celebrate DH's birthday and neither of us are feeling great:( Of course his solution is to spend the whole time in bed resting.....ya right:eek: Mpls puts on a parade every night until Christmas and all the floats (and people) are lit up. Very cool.

What is everyone else planning for today? Hope all the peeps have a good one!

JJ

Peeps Check-in

Peeps:

Good morning! I had a nice Thanksgiving and did not stuff myself this year. I nibbled on a few bites of turkey breast, a few bites of cornbread dressing, a few bites of mashed potatoes, a taste of cranberries and sweet potatoes, and a buttermilk biscuit with a glass of sweet tea. I met Jean (dreamyjeanie) after lunch, and we walked for close to an hour down by the river. The weather was perfect. I enjoyed a small piece of pumpkin pie and a small piece of cherry pie with fresh whipped cream after our walk. (Actually, I ate the filling and left the crust.) Yummy! I tasted the traditional fare and saved room for what I really wanted.

I read, relaxed, and enjoyed the stability ball and band segments of Stretch Max yesterday. I went to Target late last night for bubble bath but avoided the wild crowds otherwise. I had a 20 percent discount that came with my Cathe calendar order, so I ordered a pink stability ball and resistance tubing with the door strap for the pull-up modification in STS. I need to clean and organize my workout area to make room for all the toys needed for STS and start my one-rep max tests soon.

I rested my feet yesterday after my walk with Jean on Thanksgiving. I am ready to start shopping today. I want to stop by the club for a water workout today too.

Jerry, I read your Thanksgiving note to Cathe and thought of you with every bite of cherry pie!

Karin, I would love to share 4-Day Split modifications with you. Do you have a rebounder? I love my Needak for Cathe’s high impact drills. Bunny hops, jumping jacks, and other high impact moves are a blast on a rebounder with no stress to my joints. If not, I will see what else I can suggest. The step workouts are fun on the floor with no step. I still get a great workout at my weight. If you need more intensity, wear a weighted vest. Cathe encouraged me to make this change last year. I am glad I finally did because her choreography is fun on the floor with no stress on my knees.

JJ, I hope you feel better soon. Happy birthday to your husband.

Hugs to Dani, Ellie, Laura, Wendy, and all the Peeps who visit today!

Blessings,
Heather B.

HI Peeps!

just got up and I have HairMax on the brain this morning. shortly I'll ge heading out to get my hair highlighted and cut... been trying to grow it longer (think short layered bob right now) but have about 6 months to go before it is anywhere near what I envision... it's about this time each time that I give up and go super short again... oh well... will see what happens...

I don't have the CCPP either... I did at one time, when the download was free and then about a month ago my computer crashed and I had to start from square one - like new out of the box squeeky clean hard drive... Just figured out how to put all my music back into iTunes from my iPod... BUT, I will be doing a TM pre-programmed walk instead... I didn't really get into CC much anyway, but still want to join Team Carola in honor of her surgery yesterday!

JJ: you are very brave for doing any w.o while sick! Take it easy and listen to your body! :) but good for you for joining in... When were you supposed go to MPLS? Was it tonite? you could always change the date (tell them you are hurling all over the place and didn't think they wanted it all over their 5-star room! If they have the parade and festivities every night, then you should be able to switch nights hopefully and still have a very cool time! Best of luck appealing to their 5-star hearts! :) Happy B-day to your DH. I need to start planning my DH's 50th b-day party soon... but don't know where we will be! that's another thread! :)

Ellie: you are quite the trooper! I can't believe all the events you have been to in the past few days... how ya holding up? I stayed completely away from my 25 year reunion... there are only a handfull of people that I would even want to see from HS, and those I still keep in touch with... Hang in there... you will be come soon, and can just collapse! Just BREATHE!

Karin: hope you are still on your recovery road! How are you feeling?

Laura: I saw LOR's on TV last night while flipping through the channels and thought of you! hope you are enjoying your movie marathon!

Wendy: how's your weather holding out?? we had rain Wed/thurs, but yesterday and today appear to be blue skies, but a bit cooler. Probably in the low 60's. I can deal with that! Hope you are recovering as well... doing CCPP as well?

Jerry: did DW and her Cousin make it out of the mall unscaithed? Hope no troubles plagued your area for Black Friday... What's on tap for you today?

waves to all peeps who will follow today... will BBL :)

have a great day Peeps!

Morning, Peeps

Feeling nice and sore after MM last night!! Challenged myself by really upping the weight load...although I cancelled STS, the idea behind finding a challenging enough weight is a great one...if we're going to take the time to work out, let's really work out!!

Today, DW and I have a wedding to attend, so no workout for me, and that includes no dancing at the wedding....when I quit drinking, I lost my groove....

DW and her cousin arrived home safely after a 12 hour marathon mall trip...they got a later start as to avoid the morning crowds..and I ordered pizza for my dinner, so it was a win-win for all concerned!!...:D

Heather, I had myself a big 'ol slab of cherry pie Thanksgiving night, and now the challenge is to not go overboard with the goodies, so when I was offered to take the rest of the pie home, I refused...a major step in the right direction!!

I think tomorrow will be KPC for me!

Have a great day, gang!

Hi everyone! Sorry that I missed y’all yesterday but I don’t know where the day went. I watched a lot of TV yesterday. What Not to Wear had a marathon on yesterday and I plopped myself in front of the TV for a lot of that. That’s one thing I love about holidays, you can be really lazy and justify it :). DH and I also had a LOR marathon yesterday and went to bed at 4 am because of it. I might need a nap today.

No shopping for me yesterday, except for Home Depot. DH and I had $400 worth of gift cards to that place in the last year and we used it to buy a lawn mower. Exciting, huh? We also got some sample paint for our room. We want to paint it a light blue, but I really stink at picking out colors so we need to do swatches on the wall to see what we like before we buy a gallon of paint. I don’t think that we are going to tackle that project until after Christmas but it’s nice to know what we want to do. I already have all the bedding that I bought from Kohls. It is chocolate brown and light blue and is so pretty. I love it!

I did CCPP today on my spinning bike. I wasn’t really into working out today but did what I could. I thought about Carola and that got my butt on the bike and got me moving.

Laura – we were totally on the same page yesterday. DH and I always watch the LOR trilogy over Thanksgiving weekend. We have the extended versions and we started watching them at 5 pm last night and went to bed around 4 am. Oops, once we got started we couldn’t stop. I have a huge crush on Aragorn in these movies.

Jerry – glad to hear DW had a good time yesterday. Wow, 12 hours of shopping, that’s dedication. Your pizza sounds good. I am thinking of having some today too.

Dani – did you and your DH go to the new Bond movie yesterday? LOL, about hair max. I do the same thing too. I actually have it just past my shoulders right now which is longer than it has been in awhile. I will probably tell my hair dude to cut it when I go in again. It is just kind of getting on my nerves. What did you end up doing with your hair today? I have to make an appt to get mine done before the holidays.

JJ – I’m so sorry about your virus. Take care of yourself. That really stinks about having a hotel room tonight in the city and not feeling well. I have been to Germany and Austria. I would highly recommend Koln (Cologne) and Heidelberg in Germany. They are both beautiful cities on rivers. I think that Koln is on the Rhine and Heidelberg is on the Neckar, which eventually runs into the Rhine. I really enjoyed the Black Forest region too and my stays in Freiburg and Triberg. Finally, I stayed in Stuttgart for 3 months during grad school and I really liked it. It’s a fun city with lots of history. I’ve been to a lot of places in the south and west of Germany, but haven’t really explored the north or the east. Also, I’ve been to a lot of places in Austria, if you decide to go there too I can let you know what I liked.

Ellie – you are a party animal. Are you nervous/excited about your reunion today? Do you have to travel to go to it or did you go to school locally?

Wendy – sounds like you are doing better. I too have been having a bite of pie each time I go out to the kitchen. DH finally finished it off so there isn’t anymore to have. I have no control, which is why I can’t have any of this stuff in the house.

Heather – thanks for your modifications. I don’t have a rebounder, but have been thinking about getting one. I’ll have to look into it more carefully and see if we can swing it. Did you buy the tubing with handles from Cathe’s website? I want to buy it for the door attachment to do lat pulldowns. Do you like the tubing? Is it pretty good quality?

Karin--How cool that we were both watching LOTR yesterday!! You know what they say about great minds!!

JJ and Dani--Thanks for the affirmation as to our non-geekiness. :D

Dani--I also LOVE Narnia. The Friday pancake events sound wonderful.

Wendy--Before you are TOO impressed, please know that I have help in the kitchen with all the from-scratch cooking. It would be way too much to handle on my own. (Here follows another blurb about "life in Africa.")

Almost all of the expatriates who live in East Africa have "house help." The number of people and the number of hours they work varies. But we have folks who mow the grass, do ironing, and help with cooking tasks (since we have to do so much from scratch). For us, this is a big help since the infrastructure here is so weak. We do so much more for ourselves than we would in the US that we would get no "real work" done if we didn't have help. And for the Africans, it's a real boost to their economy to have us come in and offer jobs. In fact, DH got chewed out one day early on for mowing our yard himself. A group of guys complained that he was "stealing" from them because he was doing the work himself rather than hiring one of them and thus providing an income. So the system works well for them and for us.

So, my task in the kitchen is very often the role of teacher and manager. I have a very skilled worker who had some experience before she came to me and whom I have taught to make a lot of my recipes. So SHE is the one who churns the butter and grinds my meat, etc. It's a big help.

But we did have to start WAY in advance to have everything ready, since so much had to be baked and made from scratch.

Today was a rest day for me after all the parties, and I plan to run tomorrow.

Guten Tag, Peeps!

OK, no workout for me this morning. I think I pushed my recovery workouts too fast and am not ready to be back in action yet. I'm just still kind of tired, which makes me think I had a viral infection instead of a cold. So I'm resting the rest of the weekend because darn it, I want to get back to my workouts next week!!

I plan to start next week with a workout (Push/Pull or Supersets.) And I'm starting my food clean, too, because while Jerry and Heather and everyone else has maintained good portion control, I have not!!!!!!!!!! I'm still shoveling in forkfuls of pie as I breeze in and out of the kitchen, eating a scone for my mid-morning snack, you get the ugly picture. So, just so I'm accountable, I'm starting tonight with some lean red meat (grilled on stove), french green beans and wild rice with skim milk for dinner. Tomorrow I will eat Malt-o-Meal for breakfast, have a salad with dried cherries, butternut squash and a bit of cheese over wild greens...dinner will be roasted chicken with carrots and more rice. Workweek lunches will be salad with roasted pears, dried figs, and Danish blue cheese and Kashi Vanilla Go Lean with dried cranberries for breakfast...

OK, I feel better typing that out and making myself accountable for it. DH, Houdini and I just got back from Whole Foods. Houdini threw a FIT for Greek yogurt while we were shopping so I had to open one and let her eat it (she feeds herself but it was a MESS!) as we pushed through the store and people laughed at us. Houdini is exhibiting her fussy side (IE almost 2!) when it comes to food. This morning she ate a bowl of Weetabix, then all she wanted was Fage Greek Yogurt for lunch and then she ate half of another carton at Whole Foods. OK, so it's good food she's eating but I need to get her some fruit, veggies, and meat somehow...

JJ--I hope you are resting well today--skip that workout if you need to! That parade sounds way cool, too.

Dani--So, how short is the hair? :)

Jerry-Have a good time at the wedding!

Karin--That chocolate brown/light blue sounds really pretty for a master bedroom! You could always take in the bedlinens and have them match the paint to the light blue in the pattern if you want to work with the same color...

Laura--Wow, I had no idea about the food situation in Africa! That was just so fascinating to read about. Keep the stories coming when you have time!!

OK, off to put the rest of the groceries away...

:) Wendy

Hey Peeps...

Just wanted to check in before hitting the hay in a bit... did my 30 minute programmed TM walk in lieu of CCPP, for Team Carola after my HC appt... then to the store and then to see the new JBond movie at the casino around the corner...

Hair: my stylist managed to talk me out of cutting it all off short again, so for now it is continuing to grow. right now we are working on growing out all the layers into a short bob-style... back neckline is inverted (shorter in the middle and longer on both sides) so it curls around under my ears... it's about 1 inch lower than my earlobes in length... although the sides aren't quite there... I have about another 2-3 inches on the sides to catch up to the back... so we will be keeping the back shorter until the layers all catch up to each other.... I also got a highlight today, so hopefully that will help with the lack of body my hair usually has. I have LOTS of hair, but it is very fine and does not retain it's "fluffiness" (if that's even a word) without a LOT of product and hairspray!

Movie review: well, never a dull moment in a Bond flick - I've gotta give 'em that! I thought it was OK, but as I didn't really pay THAT much attention to the first (Casino Royale) there were a lot of references that I just had a hard time connecting to this one... When they come out on DVD I'll have to get them and watch them back to back in the hopes that some of the missing pieces will fall into place for me... Generally most of the Bond movies are self-contained and I have not noticed much carry over from one to the next, except characters of course... Overall it was action packed, lots of chases, crashes and shooting! What else could (or should) you ask from a Bond movie... I must say that there was not as much "sex" in this one as in past bond flicks, which was sorta refreshing... So, overall I'm glad we went, just glad it was a matine'!

Laura: I too love to read about others experiences, especially abroad! I have never been off of the NA continent, so it is so intersting to hear about other cultures and parts of the world! I am of German descent, so someday I want to go to Germany (Karin I'll definately be asking you LOTS of questions) but don't see that happening very soon, just a wish on the bucket list! How much longer are you in Uganda, do you know? What does your DH do there? I'm sure you have answered these questions before, so forgive the repetative question :)

Wendy: take it easy and enjoy your Holiday... don't get too down on yourself about your eating... I'm right there with ya babe! UGLY pretty much sums it up for me, too! I have been eating SO much the past few days that I feel so bloated and full since thursday's meal! I have practically eaten an entire apple pie in the past 2.5 days, as DH doesn't really eat that many sweets... And at the movies, I ate xtra buttered popcorn, diet coke zero, and about 1/4 of a movie-sized box of Milk Duds!!! UGH! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES... SHE'S GONNA BLOW!!! I'll be joining you on the cleaner eating (ok, well at least healthier) come Monday and will do my best until Christmas!

Karin: hey, you deserve a break too! so hope you enjoyed your couch time! I know I have the past few days... but then I must admit that I do a lot of that every weekend  LOL on the lawn mower! hey, gotta do whatcha gotta do! at least it will be useful for a long time rather than something you eat or consume in other ways!

One more day! talk to ya Peeps tomorrow!

Sun morning here, but just wanted to post quickly to say I did 6 miles. That's the longest I've ever run--I did it once before back in 04. Feeling pumped this morning! :D
