Good morning on this fine Monday morn Peeps!!

I am getting ready for work. No comment on that,... Will do some cardio this evening.

Hope you all have a fabulous day!!!

Morning all.

LaDonna! How was the race. I didn't see anything on yesterday's thread. I haven't been over to the OF yet...

Karin, I went to a branch campus of PSU near Ship for my first two years of college. It's at Mont Alto, a small crossroad close to Chambersburg. We used to go over to Ship for concerts. I'm really excited about the football team this year. I'd love to see them go all the way for JoPa. I hate the thought of Penn State without him someday. I'm glad to hear your dad is doing well. Remind him that there will be good days and then bad days. I think it's like that with any major surgery.

Wendy, hope your DD had a better night last night. Sigh, my DGS has been sleeping with my DD since he was born. He will not spend a whole night in his crib.

Catherine, here's some coffee. Are you working today? I'm off and my niece and I will be doing a little antique shopping. Oh, I just saw you started the thread and are working. I'll copy and past this....

Dani, have a safe and fun trip. Is it fun or work?

JJ, LOL at you planning on doing a workout you don't have. I've done that. I could have sworn I have Slow and Heavy. I only have PART of S&H.

Ellie, are you up to a workout today?

I'm up early for a day off and had planned on making an apple pie for dessert for tonight. I'm having my MIL over, as well as my niece. SOMEONE opened a bag of sugar and didn't put it on the sacred shopping list, so now it's all gone and there isn't a new bag to open. Grrrrr. I have to wait an hour or so till the nearest store opens.

Good Morning Peeps!!!

I think I am ready for at least a long walk today! Don't want to push it and go backwards with this cold/flu thing.
Hubby will be away all week so I need a nurse for DS2 and I was thinking of getting one for ME too. Even though I am one, I can't seem to make myself better.

My coffee was soooo good this morning! Cause DH made it and gave it to me in bed. Now don't go thinking this has ever happened before, I think he's just desperate for me to feel better!! He probably stuck some meds in there or something.

I can't wait to hear how everyone did with their races and workouts.

Catherine- you started KB?? Tell us about it. It just might be my next adventure into firness.
And I also had a BAD case of the Lazy Sundays. And it was wonderful!!!!

Robin- how nice that your DN is visiting. How long is she staying?? Mine came over yesterday for 2 hours so I could take a nap. Yup, I paid for a nap. Does life get any more strange than that????

Hope all are well and enjoying Monday. :(

Hiya Peeps~

Just popping in quickly to wish you all a good day. I've got CC on tap this morning and then errandMax the rest of the day.

Robin~ Don'tcha just hate it when someone uses the last of something and forgets to put it on the grocery list:mad: My kids do that all the time! If we lived close enough, I'd pick some up for you since the gocery store is one of my errands today. Have fun shopping with your DN.

Catherine~ Don't work too hard....you'll need energy for your cardio tonight;)

Ellie~ Enjoy your walk:)

Waves HI to all who follow:D

Hi. I've been kind of lurking on this thread ever since Robin started it a couple weeks ago. I've been trying to decide if I'd like to join and have finally decided "yes," if you'll have me.

I've been on the PYGFO thread, too, so I see some familiar faces. I do sometimes get overwhelmed with a daily thread, so I've loved having PYGFO be weekly. But I would like to meet some more people, so I'm branching out. Having a few familiar faces here will be a comfortable way to do that.

I forget all of Robin's "get to know you questions," so I'll answer what I remember.

My name is Laura.
I'm 36.
I have a DH, 3 kids (DS8, DS6, DD4) and a Great Dane who thinks she is a family member.
I have a masters in literature and am "officially" a French and English teacher. But right now I am a full time SAHM.
I love to read, play the piano, watch Star Trek, do anything having to do with Lord of the Rings, and sit in my garden (see pix on my page). And, obviously, workout.
On Sundays I go to church and then have a rest day with my family.
I HAVE actually lived in a foreign country. In fact, I live in Uganda right now and have been here for 10 years. We're with a mission organization, and my husband is Director of University Development for a new school just being built.
Favorite music--almost anything except rap or heavy metal. I LOVE music. Contemporary Christian is probably what I listen to most, but we have lots of music and tend to keep something playing most of the time.

What did I miss, Robin?

I went on the RT in 07.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Laura

DH and I made it home safely last night after our plane was delayed from Philadelphia for 2 hours. I really hate airports and delays. It’s just so annoying. I stayed up too late last night because I wanted to do some stuff around the house and go to the store to have something for lunch today. I hope to make it through the day without wanting to fall asleep at my desk. I wrote a to do list and left it on my desk at work so that I would remember what I was working on before I left. Seemed kind of silly at the time, but I am glad I did it because I couldn’t remember what I need to be doing. I might just chill in the night this week and get my energy back after the emotional week I just had, so I am not sure about working out. Maybe some yoga or pilates or an easy spin on my spinning bike.

Catherine – what cardio workout are you thinking about doing tonight?

Robin – it looks like our stomping grounds used to be quite similar. I love that part of PA and I especially love it in the fall. I too am excited about PSU this year. I hope that they go far. I hope you enjoy your day off today and that the apple pie turns out well. It sounds yummy.

Dani – I hope you have a good time in OK. Are you vacationing, visiting family, or going for work?

Wendy – I hope that the little one slept better for you last night.

Ellie – glad to hear you are feeling better today. I think a walk sounds like a good idea. That way you can ease back into things.

Laura – Welcome to the check-in. I’m glad you decided to join.

Hi to everyone else that stops in the thread today. I hope everyone has a great day.

Hola Peepers,

Catherine--I am your new coffee drinking partner. I am on a big o' cup and will be reaching for a second for sure. I'll explain in a minute, but let's just say DD is now Houdini and is escaping from the crib permanently now...

Robin--Antiquing sounds like a perfect fall activity. UGH about the sugar, though--I HATE when that happens, but in my case, since I keep the shopping update list and do all the cooking, I'm usually the one who forgets when something is out...LOL!

Ellie--Enjoy your walk today! So glad you are feeling better.

JJ--Errand Max, LOL!

Laura--Hi there! This thread is great for meeting new people (everyone has been super nice and supportive here) so welcome. I like Christian Contemporary, too. :)

Karin--Yoga sounds perfect. You probably need a bit of centering before you jump into something like Drill Max, LOL! Glad you made it home safely.

OK, night number two of barely any sleep. DD (who is 22 months old) is now Houdini and escaped from the crib within 10 minutes of being put into it last night. I told my DH we need to put the matress on the floor, buy a baby gate for her door, and let her work it out. He said no, "I can get her to sleep, I'll just stay in her room." I was like good luck with that! but said nothing. I went to bed since he basically told me I was dealing with it wrong.

Around midnight he came in, woke me up, and said, "Uh...she's alseep on the living room floor." If I weren't so tired I would have yelled "HA!" So I got up and slept on the couch in case she woke up in the middle of the night (which she did at 2:30AM) and got her re-settled.

So, guess who is going to Target after work to buy a baby gate for Houdini? Oh! And Houdini has figured out how to open all the baby locks on the cabinets and drawers so now my entire house is shoved on to the back of the coutnertops and tops of cabinets and closets!! Is it any wonder why I'm exhausted??????? LOL!

Needless to say, thanks to Houdini, I will be doing Barely Functioning Max today.

Have a great day, Peeps!

:) Wendy

Hi Peeps!

I'm a little late checking in this morning so I'll try to keep it a little brief. There was a job in yesterday's paper that I'm interested in so I prepared a cover letter right after I got up. Then, I just really didn't feel like working out at all but after I got downstairs, I decided to do an upper body/lower body split this week. I just got done working out a few minutes ago & I ended up doing the warm up & cardio only from HSTA, Muscle Max upper body only premix (skipping the warm up & stretch), & finished with the step only portion of SJP (again, skipping the warm up & stretch). I feel much better now that I worked out! Now I need to get some breakfast...

Catherine - Hope you have a good day at work & enjoy your cardio tonight.

Robin - Enjoy your visit with your MIL & niece... & enjoy the apple pie too. YUM!

Ellie - Glad you're finally starting to feel better & I hope you enjoy a walk today... if you feel up to it.

JJ - Have fun with CC today. I haven't done one of those in ages...

Laura - Welcome!!! This is a great check-in & I'm glad you joined!

Karin - Glad you made it home, safe & sound. I think yoga sounds like a good choice for you today. Enjoy!

Wendy - Oh my goodness, I can't believe your DD is a baby Houdini! Your story had me LOL but I hope you can get some rest soon...

Well, off to get some cereal now & then get back to more pressure washing. I need to finish so I can get the sealer put on before any rain sets in here. I think they're calling for some on Thursday...

Take care everyone. I'll try to check back in later...

Kel

Wendy--So sorry about the sleepless nights. Our DS did that when he was 16 months old. (He's now 8). He would LAUNCH himself out of his crib, wail for a while, console himself, and then patter around. Fortunately, he was only doing it in the morning and not at 2 am. But our solution was just what you said: put a mattress down on the floor by the crib, and put a gate on the door.

When I read your post the other day, I was SO empathizing with you.

As he got bigger, things didn't get better. One morning when he was 2 he decided to get up and make Nestle Quik strawberry milk for himself. We woke up when we heard glass shatter in the kitchen. We walked in to find every container that he could get a hold of ranged across the kitchen floor, and him in the middle, wailing, surrounded by broken glass. All the containers were full of water and varying amounts of strawberry powder. Fortunately, most of what I own is plastic, but he had (with child-proof locks?) gotten a hold of one of the few glass pitchers I have, and dropped and shattered it.

Needless to say, we found a "gate" option that would keep a 2 year old in his room till we could get up in the morning!

So, I'm with you girl!! ;) Hang in there.

He's now 8 and, PTL, can get breakfast for himself and 2 younger siblings.

Peeps! How is everyone?

Completed today’s workout – The Kettlebell Way and even with gloves on, my palms feels cut up. The gloves made it worse so I need to get a woman’s fitness gloves as I was using a small men weight gloves. Ouch! That’s not gonna stop me using my kettlebell though lol and to think today was the 1st time I thought to wear gloves . Now I wonder if I should have not bothered with gloves at all.

The weekend was again busy but we had my FIL visiting it was nice, he’s back home now so I need to get started on some cleanmax that didn’t get done while he was here.

Hoping everyone had a great weekend. I was not over here so have no idea what all the Peeps were up to but the thought of going back and reading a few days worth of posts is overwhelming for me – sorry.

Catherine – although technically it’s a federal holiday today everyone is doing the normal Monday routine; work and school.

Robin – apple pie sounds mouthwatering; I love how it makes the entire house smell so good and Fall like.

Your episode with the bag of sugar sounds so familiar as my family does that to me all the time – I mean all the time ugh! Frustrating when you know you have items for a menu and come to find out its gone the next day.

Ellie Glad you’re feeling better. I was sick what seems the entire month of Sept. and it got old real quick. I’ve been taking Airborne since and it appears to be working

JJ Enjoy CC today! Which one are you doing?

Laura - Hello! Glad to ‘meet’ you.

Karin - Ugh airport delays how frustrating. At least you’re home now and enjoy your active rest week.

Wendy – sounds like your dd is ready for a toddler bed. Wow how scary that she is climbing out of her crib good thing she hasn’t hurt herself. Smart lil cookie you got there that she’s figured out how to open those baby locks – wow!

Kel Good luck with that job, here’s hoping you get called for an interview.

Hellos to all that follow

Have a wonderful day !

Vilma, I forgot about it being a federal holiday. Sorry to hear about your troubles with the hands and KBs :(

Laura, I remember you from the RT last year!! Glad you are joining in.

Kel, glad you feel better after working out. I find I'm that way sometimes and if I just make myself do something I am much better. I have to give my self permission to not have to do something intense all the time!!

Wendy, I hope you get some rest. Sending you some super duper coffee!!

Karin, glad you are home and hope you can get some rest. I am thinking of doing a DM premix- the one where you do the drills twice. Only sometimes I cheat and skip doing some of them twice

JJ, hope you don't have to much erranding to do today!!

Ellie, I think talking a walk is a great way to ease back into things. No sense in over doing it!!

Hey girls! Well I made it! I am just going to copy the recap from my journal over at Oxygen so that I don't have to type it all out again! I will post picture sometime but I have to get them from the camera to the puter and sometimes I am slow about that! :p

Hi all! I am back for my race update. I was not feeling very well yesterday after the race so I didn’t much feel up to typing.
Well I made it and it was brutal. Much harder than I thought it would be. My time was also not what I wanted but I gave it my all. I left everything I had out there on the road so I will do better my second time. I finished at 2 hours 8 minutes. If you asked me yesterday, I would have said that I was never running again! So I am making progress today.
It was a fairly hot day yesterday. The first 3 miles, I was right on my target pace of 9 min. miles. I continued on pace until I hit a wall at mile 8. My right foot, the one I have the plantar fasciitis problems with, really started crying, but I didn’t stop to walk. I just soldiered on although I slowed a bit. Miles 8-11 were just agony for me but I did keep my pace around 10 minute miles. Larry, Alex, and my mother in law were there to cheer me on. Alex fed me sharkies and jelly beans to keep up my energy. I don’t think I could’ve done it without them. He ran beside me handing them to me saying, “you’re doing great mom , keep it up”. So around mile 11, Larry came up beside me to tell me lots of people were walking and that I needed to dig deep the last couple of miles to pass them up. So I was able to give it everything I had left. I passed quite a few people the last half mile. Like I said, I finished at 2 hours 8 minutes. Not my goal time but I’ll take it for a first effort. They had 2200 people running and it was lots of fun now that I am reflecting back on it. I am sore everywhere below the belts. My calves, quads, ankles, hips, butt, etc, you get the point. Especially my right foot.I am also chafing in places one should never chafe! I don't know what's up with that! After the race, I tried to walk a bit and stretch. Then we went to the car and after getting home, I was so stiff I could barely get from the car to the house. My body felt so wrecked! I was not really hungry but I forced a power bar down me. Skipped Chili’s because my appetite really didn’t come back. Alex wanted Mexican so we went and had that. I ate some chips and salsa and a few bites of my burrito. My stomach was not quite right yesterday after the race. It is feeling much better now. I am going to take a complete week off from everything this week and decide what is up next. Thanks for all of the support ladies. I really can’t tell you how much my journal helped me to stay on track with my w/outs. There were days that I didn’t want to run but did it anyway because I didn’t want to tell my journal buddies that I missed a w/out. So thanks to all of you, you helped me more than you know.

LaDonna--That was such an inspiration to read!! Thank you for sharing it. And a big Congratulations to you!!!

Laura--Thank you, thank you, thank you SO MUCH for the words of wisdom (and hope!) I'm glad to hear I'm on the right track with the matress on the floor/baby gate combo. My mom keeps DD during the day and she just called to say DD was watching Curious George. And in this episode, George goes to bed and when he did, DD yelled out, "No nite-nite! No nite-nite!" So apparently I'm going to have a huge battle on my hands. Am anticipating lots of screaming at the baby gate tonight...and more Barely Functioning Max tomorrow!!!

Wow LaDonna, what a day you had. You are a force to be reckoned with  Congrats on the race and I hope you are back to normal soon!!

Quick check in...

Hi Peeps...

just a quick check in as the internet keeps kicking me off. I'm in Oklahoma this week for work related training in Norman, just a bit south of OKC and where OU is...

not much time for personals but wanted to say that LaDonna you are my hero! I used to run a LONG time ago, but the tought of doing more than a few miles on the treadmill give me chills! you should be very proud of yourself!

off to dinner and then some shopping at the local mall!

take care all & will try to check in as Internet allows :)

PS.. brought a few Cathe DVD's with me and did KPC premix and 30 minutes treadmill :) They have an awesome facility here with an aerobic room (USPS processing/training facility) I only WISH I had that floor in my house!

Hi gang! I had a very nice day with my niece and son. We wandered through a craft and flea market kind of place and made a few inexpensive purchases. Lunch was a yummy chicken corn soup. I only had time to squeeze in about 40 minutes of Amy's ACS3. At least I did something, so I didn't feel too guilty having a small piece of pie after dinner.

LaDonna, you did such a great job! Thanks for sharing with us. So now what? A marathon.

Laura!!! Welcome to Peepville. I'm so glad you are joining us. No pressure here. Post when you can and whatever you care to share. I was LOL at the sotry about your 2 year old's mess.

Dani, have a nice week. It's great that you have a nice facility to workout in.

Vilma, I use gloves with the KB too. I tried without the first time, but I was afraid the KB would slip out of my sweaty hands.

Kel, good luck with the job.

Wendy, good luck with Houdini. We got to be very good at waking up when our DS started pattering around the house in the middle of the night.

Karin, I remember one time when we flew out of Philly. The pilot announced a delay and said it was because we were in Philly and that's just what they do. Oh, we all have Friday off and were trying to decide what to do with my niece. I think we are going to head to Gettysburg, speaking of that part of the state. It's about a 3 hour drive. DH said we'd just need to get an early start. I haven't been at the battlefield for several years. It should be beautiful this time of year.

Uh oh, I'm out of time here. Gotta go spend some time with the family. See you all tomorrow.
