PayPal Security Key?

How many of you knew PayPal offers a security key available for purchase? I didn't until
I read a thread on another forum about a hijacked PayPal account.

I just received it in the mail and I'm very impressed. It's this little electronic device assigned to my account. Once activated, no one (including me) can log into my PayPal account without this device in hand.

Now that I've activated the key, I log in as usual but Paypal ask me to press my key for a new 6 digit number. I press the key, and I have an access number that is good for 30 seconds.

I think it's worth $5, but I wish PayPal would offer them for free to everyone. I think you have your account hijacked before you qualify for a free one. I'll pass on that freebie. I paid the fee

Hey! I've had my account hijacked and no one gave me a nifty key! Seriously, someone overseas somehow hacked into my account and charged a bunch of small charges that came straight out of my bank account through Paypal. I did get my money back and I was REALLY lucky that they didn't drain me for much anyways, but boy did I feel violated! I will have to look into this. Thanks!

I had my account hacked into. I was camping and now where near a computer. When I came home and checked my email, I received an email from paypal that my payment had been sent and received. I was like what payment? It was for $300.00 EURO Dollars. I have my paypal connected to my VISA. At the same time I received an email that they suspect someone had hacked in. I contacted them and they returned my money but no one offered me the fancy key...

Hmmmm, there was a gal on VF who had someone hijack her account and they offered her the key for free.
The key is really worth the $5. I've never seen anything like this.
I just need to keep it in a safe place. I can't use my paypal account without it. If I lose it, no one can use the account

Thanks for the info. Paypal keeps nagging me to attach my account to my bank account (instead of my credit card.) No way...the last thing I need is for that to get hacked into!

I know!
I used a small checking account that I opened to fund my son's activities while away at school. There is no way I will attach my main checking account to PayPal!

I got the key last year after an E-bay hack scare. The key can cover both E-bay and PayPal. (I think E-bay owns PayPal now). I got pretty paranoid and have alerts set on all my credit cards and bank account for transactions over a certain amount. I haven't had any accounts hacked yet.

I forgot about Ebay! I've had an Ebay account hijacked.
