Panicking...

step22

Hi!
I wrote a week ago about taking a break from working out while I was on a weeks vacation. Well, I'm back, and let me tell you, I ate enough for a family of 10! I feel like the progress I made in my workouts are gone now because I ate so much horrible food. I admit, I never eat great, but 1) I'm 22 and can still get away with some junk food, and 2) I've never eaten soooo much junk and just layed on the couch afterwards.
I know my life isn't over, but I could use some advice, motivation, etc. Thanks a lot!!!

At twice your age...

I can assure you that it's possible to "start over" again and again and again. And that applies to everything from working out to being a "virgin." (Sorry if anyone takes offense!)

You're smart to recognize that learning good health habits now is important. The junk food thing is deadly. Literally.

Give yourself a break. But sit down TODAY and make a plan, on paper, for the weeks and months ahead. Plan your workouts. Start keeping a diary of everything you eat. Get online and find websites that will help you memorize good nutrition guidelines and take them to heart.

And stick around Forums like this. You'll find companionship and motivation day or night.
Best wishes! Barbara

Barbara is wise!

I have that philosophy every day of my life on vacation or not. Your early twenties is a great time to establish wonderful eating and exercising habits that will afford you a long healthy life! I was on vacation in July and I gained at least five pounds but I am on the straightand narrow now. And one thing I know is that you've got to build in a little leeway, take a break from rigid diets or exercise programs. There's a thread in the Open Discussion thread entitled "Nutritionist". Check it out. There's a link there to a website I have really found informative. Other than that, remember to have fun!

it will get to be a habit

I know it doesn't seem like it now, but you will put "automatic limits" on yourself as you get into the fitness lifestyle more. Pretty soon, that extra piece of cake will hold no appeal. (But, the first one still will--ha-ha!!)
