Hey everyone,
It's been ages since I posted anywhere. Injury, depression, (never been depressed before, now I know, boy do I know.) etc. I haven't exercised since last spring. A big contrast to averaging 5-days a week for close to 10 years. Body is in atrophy...it's pitiful. Take it from me, exercise helps your skin stay young looking. I am so hoping to get back to doing something when STS gets here.
But, since July (thanks to inspiration from my guitar hero, whose instrumental songs he wrote, made me pick up my dusty pen and turn my 3 weeks of suicidal tendencies into something creative), I have written two novels, (200 pages each), and 12 songs (lyric and music). The songs are the soundtrack for my latest novel. We're scheduled to start a 2-3 month project of recording 10 of the songs Dec 8th to release on CD this spring.
My problem: I typed all my pages on Microsoft Word, only to find that the page breaks do not work. I had problems with it when in school for medical transcription and got points knocked off because pages wouldn't stay together.
Lately, I have talked to many technicians at computer stores and they concur that indeed 'Word' especially the later versions since 2003 have a major problem with page breaks.
Question: you writers out there, what program do you use to have your pages stay together? Coral? Word Perfect? Word Right? Open Office?
The publishers that I have found say a novel has to have 1.25 margins top, right and left. The top is .25 complete with header. Chapter has to be 3.75 down the page. With Word, after about 15 pages of printing the lines start moving down a space. Grrr.
I'm thinking of self-publishing in order to release my cd with book. Very important to have it print ready.
Thanks so much for any advice.
I go for a photo shoot in Ohio next week. Hope to be setting up my info on MySpace soon. So finally, I will get to virtually 'meet' you soon.
I used to be known as cathe4me2 on this forum.
