P90X is an advanced fitness program sold by www.beachbody.com . It combines intense strength training, cardio, plyometrics, stretch, yoga and core work into a rotation that has you doing 3 weeks of intense training, followed by 1 week of recovery workouts, for a total of 13 weeks. The workouts, and "Classic" rotation are as follows:

Phase 1:
Day 1: chest/back and ab ripper. Lots of push-ups and pull-ups in a push-pull set-up. Ab ripper is a 15-minute core workout that is tough and effective.

Day 2: Plyo X. A plyometrics workout with jumps and leaps. Has cardio benefits, but really works on speed an power.

Day 3: Shoulders and Arms (and ab ripper X--which is included on all the strength workouts). One of my favorite P90X workouts! You cycle through a sholder exercise, then a bicep exercise, then a tricep exercise, repeat, then rest 45 seconds, then go on to another cycle (a total of 5?). Quite a few exercises I've never seen in another video workout.

Day 4: Yoga X. A 90-minute advanced yoga workout that works strength, balance and flexibility. Many of the folks I know who are doing P90X will substitute another yoga workout for this, at least on occasion. This workout made me a yoga lover! Or I should say that it showed me the importance of including yoga in a rotation.

Day 5: Legs and Back (and ab ripper). Lots of innovative leg exercises, many with no added weight. You do two leg exercises, then one back, etc.

Day 6: Kenpo X: A kickboxing workout that is very drill oriented.

Day 7: rest or stretch.

You repeat this for a total of three weeks, then go to recovery week:

Day 1: Yoga X
Day 2: Core synergistics. A unique workout that focuses on the core. You do some core-specific exercises, as well as strength-training exercises that really engage the core.
Day 3: Kenpo X
Day 4: X stretch : A very thorough stretch program that hits you from top to bottom. Athletic stretches and yoga stretches are included. (There are also a lot of stretches included in all the strength workouts of the program)
Day 5: Core Synergistics
Day 6: Yoga X
Day 7: Rest or X Stretch

In phase 2, the first three weeks are similar to weeks 1-3 of phase 1, but you substitute Chest/Shoulders/Tricps for Chest/Back and Back/biceps for shoulders and arms, then follow with the same recovery.
In phase 3: you do 4 weeks, alternating between phase 1 workouts and phase 2 workouts, then end with a recovery week.

The program comes with a ring-bound manual with details about the program and the workouts, and a separate nutrition manual.

You can also search this part of the cathe.com forum to find several thread on P90X. And there is a P90X check-in at www.videofitness.com where you can find a lot of info about it.
