P90X Rut Busters Check in - week of 2/14

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! And welcome to week four of the rotation. :)

IMA _ YOU LOOK MAHHHVELOUS! You go girl - FANTASTIC!

I did not work out this morning. Opted for a little love on V Day morning instead ;) I have my room at set up to do my workout this afternoon when I get home. I scheduled to leave work at 3 instead of 6 today so that I had some extra time to relax, etc. I will do my workout and then relax before we head out to dinner.

I decided to change the rotation so that I do Muscle Max today and then pick up on the P90X rotation tomorrow. I will skip the stretch day and put that in on Sunday. So for the first few days, I will be a day behind but in mid-week I will catch up.

OK - now can I complain???? I don't think that my pictures really are going to show much of a difference after 30 days and I am very annoyed about it. I am definitely stronger but I don't think my body has changed. I didn't see much of a difference in my measurements (I did them super fast yestetrday) and my weight is the same (I wasn't looking to lose though, in all fairness). I have been hitting workouts and to me, my eating is not so bad. I have cut alcohol during the week and have a glass or two of wine on two nights of the weekend. I have cut deserts completely. I bring lunch and eat well. So, I allow a hershey's kiss here or there - will that really make the difference???? I was in an eating mode that was healthy but not torture and feeling good about it but now I wonder....what do I do? Help!

Heh, heh, Christine!!! Let's hear it for some Valentine's Day lovin'!

Sarah, Jennifer Garner has NOTHING on you. NADA. Zip. Zilch. Because you look great, and you are the mother of 2 little kids. She looks great, but doesn't have 2 little kids.

My goal this first phase was to get back in the habit of working out. Thank you, Christine, for starting this check-in. Thanks to Rut Busters, I finally busted this slacker rut.

I'll try to weigh and measure myself today and see how things have progressed. I feel tighter in areas (my legs and upper arms, my back) and about the same elsewhere and my jeans are looser when they are straight out of the dryer (the ultimate measuring tape).

My goal this phase: work more on fat loss. I've been eating clean except for one piece of pizza last Saturday night. I do eat dessert, but it's never anything more than low-glycemic fruit. I need to up my H2O and perhaps decrease the caloric intake. Maybe increase the cardio to three times a day, or maybe even Ima Cardio! (do some every day!)

No clean eating for me today. Scallops in a cream sauce over linguini, and red velvet cake for dessert with wine. (Made by my husband, of course).

Twelve pushups for me today in my Ima Challange! Woohoo! Just couldn't eak out another one.

I have to confess, I didn't take pictures. I think my abs show improvement, though, and my jeans are definately looser. No weight loss. If fact, I've gained two pounds. Sarah, I'm so impressed. You look awesome. Your clean eating and hard work is paying off. Good for you!!

Did Yoga X this morning. My flexibility and strength in this workout is improving. I can almost do warrier 3.

Happy Valentines Day and Week 4,

Did Yoga X this morning. For the first time I was able to complete the whole first hour without a break. I even tried doing pushups each time they did.

Definitely an improvement in stamina. I have to agree that this has helped so much to get me back in the swing of working out hard.
Thank you everybody for all your help.

I will do new pictures and measurements this Sunday.

Dominican, poor baby! That Kick Max looks killer!

Okay, ladies, I took my measurements and am one happy rut buster! I've lost 6 pounds, gone from 165 to 159 (I'm 5'8"). My goal is 135-140.

I've lost 1/2 inch from my hips and 1/2 inch from my waist. My bust... well... let's not go there. I never measure my bust because it's too depressing. It always fluctuates wildly with my period, anyway.

I took pictures before I started this program, but because of the mass quantities of cellulite I'll never show them on a public forum unless....

.... unless I look like "Ima Gonna Kick Your Ass" Sarah when I'm through. :7

Oh, and does cheating on an Ima Challenge count? I can do 5 "halfway down" pushups on my toes. :+

:) I feel your pain Amazon! I never saw all of that cellulite until I looked at that picture! Can it really be there??? I guess that I why I am so down right now about my results :(

I ordered from beachbody today (bad! bad! bad! for my saving money goals!) and got a yoga mat, the hardest resistence bands and the pull up bar. There HAS to be someplace that I can find to put this damn thing! Even if I put it up in the bedroom or something and just belt a few out (or see if I even CAN do one!) I will know that I am pushing harder than not trying! I am calling them to see if I can return the other bands. I never used two of them and used the third three times. They weren't strong enough for me. I wanted the heart rate monitor but they weren't showing it on the site anymore - ? Does anyone else have this!? I needed the yoga mat b/c my feet slip and I am going to end up on my nose one of these days :+
 
FIRST, Thank you all for your kind words, you are all too sweet!

YES, push-ups on your toes but going half way DO COUNT! I just want them on your toes, back straight, flat, head aligned. Work up to depth. Just TRY! You won't get better unless you keep trying!

I did the Ima Challenge today and hit 23! Getting there!

Yoga X---Check! Then ran on the treadmill with my *new running shoes* that DH bought me for VDay. They felt great! Now, hopefully my toenails will stop falling off!

I am getting better at Yoga X but still have a long way to go. Still can't do Warrior 3 without the help of my finger tips. But, I did get crane (is that what it is called?) for a few seconds, getting closer on that!

I am not totally sure I have a tone of improvement either. My pictures are deceiving. The first batch has bad lighting, I am wearing a different outfit and I think shadows are present. I took some at the beginning in the same bathing suit but by accident, deleted themx( x( x( ! I will measure a few things later.

LADIES I need HELP!!!

I would like to know if anyone of could recommend me a good exercise sneakers. i bought some good ones at target. but for some reason all the shoes that i buy when i am doing my exercises it feel like my two big toes are burning. any suggestions it really bother me i have buy around 4 pairs of sneakers.

Dominican1 - sorry I can't give any advice on sneakers - I need to find better ones myself - maybe Ima can tell you if the ones she got for Vday work well--

Amazon - great measurements!! You sound like you're seriously out of a rut!!! Those are great results - keep up the good work!

Christine - unfortunately I'm with you - I don't really feel like I've had any positive results yet. But you have SERIOUSLY been sticking to this rotation like a champion. I have to imagine your results are just around the corner. Don't give up!!! We haven't even really gone 30 days yet - I bet THAT's when you'll start seeing some changes :) As for me, I probably have a bit longer to - I've had some slacking.

Sabine - good job with getting through the first hour of Yoga X straight through. It's a toughie, isn't it?! That one really gets me.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all - I'm with Margaret today with the eating! :9 But man oh man Margaret, that's really awesome that your hubby is cooking for you! I hope you have a great romantic night!! That goes for everyone!!!

Today I just did a few miles on the treadmill, but am planning Muscle Max tomorrow. I think I want to try out some of the new hardcore this 'break' week.

I didn't get a w/o in yesterday, work then dh and i went out to dinner, home and dd had some homework problems i had to help her with. I'm going to the post office this morning to pick up my hardcores YEAH!!! The mailperson wouldn't leave them yesteday, instead i got a slip to go pick them up. I'm sort of thinking of jumping in with muscle max today, just cause i need to use these hardcores!!!

I just wish oh wish oh wish i could get the eating right. that is, less and better foods :)

Can you believe I'm up 2 pound from just yesterday. **sigh** I'm going to do strict vegan for a week or so (except for my 1 glass of wine per day) and stop cheating. I really want to get rid of that last 5 - 10 pounds.

Dominican1 - I had the same problem with my two big toes. The nails actually turned black. What I did was buy good sneakers a half a size bigger than my normal size. That seems to have done the trick.I made sure that the toe area was roomy. You can also buy a wide size.

Funny how many of us had the same thought yesterday to get a yoga mat. I decided after yesterday that I wasn't going to do one more session of slipping on my carpet and went to Target and bought one.

This morning was core synergistics, and then as penance for my wretched excess of yesterday I followed it up with Low Max. That's a fun one!

Well, I didn't do muscle max today, i jumped in the gym style chest and triceps. Good workout, but not nearly as "fun"(did i just say that?) as p90x strength. I just love the way p90x goes from exercise to exercise and the variety. With gym style, it was pretty much chest press/ flys and pushups. With all the tempo changes, i found i had to lessen my weights. Oh well, guess there is a place in my rotation for this workout. Think i'll rotate the gym styles for two weeks to see how that works.

Margaret, glad to hear you liked Low max. I haven't tried it yet, i'm going to go out for a nice long walk with my dog today instead, it's sunny and pleasant in PA for a change!!
 
Hello ladies! Today I did YogaX (remember, I am one day behind you!) in its entirety! I figured after eating like a pure COW yesterday (and lovin’ every Valentine’s Day minute of it ;) ), I owed it to myself to buck up and get the entire thing finished this morning. I was having a bit of a trouble in my wrists today. It felt like I was holding up a brick building!

Tonight I may do another Hardcore premix for a bit of extra cardio. BF’s working late and I have some extra time to myself. I want about 45 minutes. Any suggestions? Tomorrow I have Core Synergistics so I can do anything today that won’t make that core sore for the morning!

Wendy – I feel the same way about P90X. I have found that I can lift heavier weights than other workouts and I really like the style of the workouts.

Margaret – I am dreading Core Syn!!! I previewed it and it just looked so hard!

Amazon – by the way, I only go about halfway down right now on my pushups. I need to try and go lower. I can tell you now that doing them that way works you harder than not doing them on toes at all. I used to think that I was better off doing them on knees b/c on toes, I can’t go down very far. Yesterday I did Muscle Max and she does two sets of 12 pushups. My goal was to do the first 7 of each set on toes and I could feel the difference significantly when I dropped to knees. We ARE working harder, even if we aren’t going down very far. I have changed my goal now and I switched up the “Ima Challenge.” I do as many reps as I can one day and the next I try to go deeper and don’t worry so much about reps. Hopefully after a week or two this will add depth to the push up.

Ruppie – if Hardcore workouts will motivate you this week, go and do them! Remember, we are the Rut Busters ;) Did you go for Muscle Max today?

Dominican – I have a terrible time with sneakers. I have a different issue than you but can tell you this. Once you find a good sneaker – buy a second pair of them for when the first wears out! ;)

i havent try the rest of my hardcore b/c i am waiting for my health club step. i have a reebok one but is the small one. and it makes a lot of noise. but i soon i get it i will let u girls know what the deal.......

Sounds like everyone is doing really great - that Valentine's Day was a pretty big hurdle - but one well worth it, right? I think a major part of being a rut buster is that nothing like that can get us back into our slump!! We are doing such a great job of getting out of our rut - and what better day to have some leeway then on Valentine's Day right in the beginning of our 'rest' week!!!
Back on truckin'

I did Muscle Max today - it was pretty good - maybe just a little strange doing a total body workout again after doing focused hour long workouts. But I do feel good - definitely realize that P90X sure doesn't have any lunge sequences complete with low ends like Cathe does!

For those doing the pull-ups, by any chance do you know what the diameter of your pull up bar is?? I made mine out of plumbing accessories - a pipe and two 90 degree hinges and flanges and - voila! But, anyway, I had gotten the 1 inch diameter pipe and have found that it's really rough on my hands. Now I picked up a 1/2 inch diameter pipe and am hoping it will make my hands feel a little better! Maybe this is just what I needed to become a pull up pro!

Ruppie, try weight lifting gloves if the smaller pipe doesn't work and WAY TO GO...stepping it up a notch to get those pull-ups in! Even if you can't do them without a chair, they still make a huge difference!

I have had a long day today, guys. I am going to have to cut it short because I am exhausted and feel brain dead. I did read all your posts and I am so proud of all of you! Keep pushing yourself and you will keep improving. Great job on the Ima Challenge, you all should be proud of yourselves! Due to tiredness, I am going to have to skip the Ima Challenge today but given my past dedication and drive, I doubt you guys will beat up on me this one time! :) Besides, a lot of push-ups in Core Synergistics!

Dom, Can't wait until you get your step. You are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! Let us know when it arrives!
 
Well, I couldn't help myself. I did the gym style chest and triceps this morning, the a core max premix. Took my dog on a 2 mile walk. tonight DH and DS were at guitar lessons, so i snuck in Imax 3. That was one of the workouts i most anticipated. It was tough! Can't say it's a love affair for me yet though. I still am stuck on imax 1. I just think simple choreography makes it easier for me to get in target zone. But, i'll keep it in weekly rotation for a couple weeks to see if it grows on me.

I decided to add something else to my daily IMA challenge. I'm going to do a daily "pike on the ball" challenge. During the core workout today, i noticed, it not only winds me, but i really wimp out on those!! So, keeping my ball readily available and am going to try to do them daily if not several times daily.

And Ruppie, i agree with sarah, use the weight lifting glove. My pull up bar is homemade to, and my hands get sore using it. I put in a request with dh for a larger diameter one, but ?? who knows???

I didn't do my Ima Challenge yesterday. Core synergistics has enough pushups for me. I like the pike challenge. I could barely do even one of those when I first introduced to it. I don't really like this rest phase. I miss the core work.

This morning was Kenpo for me. I was going to substitute Kick Max, but I was too tired this morning.
