P90X resistance bands...

Ok, well, I think I am going to break down and get these.

I want resistance bands of good quality that will work for the exercises, but that are challenging enough. I would rather not order from Beach Body if I can help it. Do you guys have suggestions on where else I can get the bands so I can use them for P90X and Cathe? AND.... I want them to be challenging. What resistance do I need? I thought someone said that you had to get the "extreme" ones from Beach Body. I just hate it when I order stuff and it is not challenging enough!!

TIA,
Janice

Well, I've ordered the men's set from Beachbody plus one of the bands from the extreme set. I can tell you what ISN'T challenging for me: I bought three bands at Target--they are Reebok brand in light, medium and heavy resistance (purchased them in anticipation of Cathe's workouts, so I don't feel they were a waste). I don't remember what weights that might be equivalent to. I'm using the heavy resistance for the pulldowns (have it looped around my top bannister spindle on my staircase. I can't feel the burn in my lats even after 20 reps with this (I feel the lats working, I just get no burn)--I've even got it wound around quite a few times and sit on the floor--still no burn.

Fay and Donna,
Thanks! I used that promo and ordered the red, blue, and purple ones. At seven bucks a pop, you can't go wrong! Now, let's hope I can do more than ONE of these pull ups!!!!:)

Janice janice janice....just got up from the basement and did my first workout for week number five...chest shoulders and triceps....you're gonna have fun fun fun. You have one armed pushups to look forward to. (NO I can't do these yet, but am on my knees and let me tell ya this is challenge enough).

BUT the MOST fun are the pushups with claps in between. It is an intense RUSH...what a blast...I love this rotation.

Just throwin a little motivation your way. Hope you bands come quick - is there any gadget you don't have?????

Hey Briee..
In my original post I was going to say that I finally have to break down and buy these, but isn't it a given that I would eventually HAVE to have them anyways??? C'mon, now.....

Oh yeah, bring the pain!!:)

Regarding these bands, where did you guys purchase the door attachment for them. I need several.

Thanks!

Janice

I received mine yesterday, and it came with the accessory kit....for an extra ten bucks. I wish the information was more clear. I had to figure it out on my own what was what. What little description there was came in 27 different languages. I am still a bit confused about how it all works but I will figure it out I'm sure. Still no regrets overall, and I love these for travel

I bought the accessories kit as well, and I wish I hadn't. In addition to the door attachment, there are two accessories I will never use. The door attachment itself just doesn't seem safe enough to me: the thicker part that is supposed to not slip through the crack in a door is not very thick at all. I ordered some different door attachments from www.sissel-online.com that have a foam "wheel" attached to them, that is so big it could even safely be used at the bottom of the door. I bought two, since they are only something like $2.50 each, but shipping seemed a bit high for just one. When I started using them, I felt much more secure and could stop worrying about the bands coming loose and smacking me in the face!
