Overhead presses for shoulders on S&H

I have been using the S&H DVD for about 7 weeks now and I keep meaning to ask this question.

When we are doing the shoulder workout and do the overhead press, is there a set missing or did Cathe mean to do only two sets of these? I am unsure and thought that maybe when this workout was brand new that this question was addressed.

Just wondered if it is better (i.e. safer) to work only two sets of these, or should I pause the DVD and add another set? I am really burning after two sets but I could PROBABLY do another if Cathe told me to.

:p

I have been wondering that very same thing - however the next exercise for the rotator cuff using a lighter weight is (I believe) also only 2 sets, so perhaps it was intentional.

I am quite glad it is only 2 sets though with the overhead press :)

It's intentional alright. I mean, are your shoulders not fried by this stage???????? Personally, on days when I feel stronger, I add a third set by simply rewinding Cathe and doing that second set with her again. But it's not often! It's up to you: it's your workout!

Oh yeah! I'm fried. Knowing that it is two sets instead of three makes me feel like I should use heavier weights, so I do.

But I was just wondering....

I do three

I always skip to the overheads first, do two drop-sets, and then skip back to do another set, for a total of three. I have heard that the overhead presses build more muscle than the more isolated lifts, and I want to be strongest when I do them.

THEN, I skip back to the side laterals, rear delt lifts and rotator cuff flies. I never do S&H front raises, because I work the anteriors enough during S&H Chest, and I'd rather use the time for other stuff.
