Overhead Press

Hi Cathe,

When I do overhead presses, I am much more comfortable, able to lift more and longer when I am seated on the high step. Does this take away from the effectiveness of the exercise?

IMO, it makes it MORE effective because you are eliminating any momentum you might use when standing (just moving the legs a little bit to help with the lift).
 
Hi Mar! No not at all, in fact it makes it a little harder because you practically eliminate all momentum from the movement. We have done them seated in some of our videos. When I am lifting on my own, I change it around and stand some days and sit others to have more variety in my lifting routines. Have fun!
 
Glad to hear this! I like to sit in a chair when the weight is heavy to prevent my back from arching.
