Out of Body Experience....

you know, when your at that point and you are so stubborn that you will not will yourself to quit no matter how tired or fried you feel. So where do you go?
The plank always gets me some others do too, but for the planks.... I always break out into a sweat just willing myself to stay put. I will not allow my knees to bend no matter what, so I am on the carpet which is multi colored and I focus on a color in the carpeting and pretend I am going inside that color. I am trying to reach into the depth of my willpower and embrace it. Bizarre, I know, but it works for me and I don't give in and bend my knees so stop laughing at me now!

I'm not laughing. That's really pretty cool. I'm going to have to try it. But wait. It won't work. The carpet in my workout room is blue, and I hate blue. I don't want to go inside blue. I know, I'll put a picture or something in front of me. Oh, and those planks do me in, too.

I use imagery as Cathe suggests. When lifting weights and I'm getting pretty tired, I can often lift a couple more by concentrating on what my musculature would look like as I go through the lift.

When doing planks and other stabilization moves, I count in sets of 8, and just keep going for another set of 8 until we are at the end. Every time something starts to tremble, I tighten it all up again and root my feet into the mat, almost as if I could root them into the ground and make myself permanent!

That's all the imagery and mind tricks I use.
