Our 539th Cathe Live Broadcast

Hello
I yet again could NOT access the Cathe Live today---the content didn't load and all i had was a black screen---Did anyone else have this challenge--it is getting frustrating that every week something else causes the content to not come on on Firestick?????

Well, I don’t know about that, but I tried to watch the live on my iPad as I usually do, &
the buffering was so bad and it kept starting & stopping, I gave up. Don’t usually have
a problem that bad. Tried on computer too, but same thing

I had the same problem this week too! I waited 8 or 9 minutes but crickets! I appreciate there are a ton of other workouts we can do (I did #500 instead) but I do look forward to working out live with Cathe and plan my afternoon around it :( .

Hi ChelePA,

Can you tell me at about what time you were trying to view?
Hello,
I was also unable to view I had a black screen with a pause sign, I also tried logging in and out of the app several times.
I was trying to view from 09:28 to 09:38 (15:28 to 15:38 German time)

9:30 to 9:40 am on my Roku. Exited and rebooted several times with no luck. Black screen every time.
Hi,

You will always see a black screen until we have started the live broadcast. We rarely start at exactly 9:30 am. The most common start time is between 9:30 am to (9:40 am). We did have a one-minute outage at about 15 minutes into the broadcast, but besides this glitch the broadcast seemed fine. We actually watched the entire broadcast on Roku and iOS.

Thank you for your reply. I know that the screen is black until the live starts, this week was different though as there wasn’t the usual play sign, instead it was a pause. There was also the usual timeline underneath the screen but it was at 1.10 every time I logged in.
I don’t think anyone expects the live to start at 9:30 on the dot. The problem for us is, I think, knowing how long to wait.
Additionally, I’m not really sure what to do with the information that you were able to watch but I would expect some more concern that numerous paying members weren’t able to.

Like I mentioned before, I can always watch on my iPad, but was not able to yesterday.
with it pausing, starting, etc. yes, slower internet could affect me from time to time, but this was different.

Definitely wasn’t the same as usual. And I know it always starts a few minutes late. I constantly have to refresh for those first few minutes. Another friend said it started around the 15 minute mark.

I also think having the members wait a possible extra 10 minutes is quite frustrating. I may just wait for the replay anymore. Wasting too much time these days.

Hi UsedtobeMissGrant,

I'll do my best to address your concerns. The reason that we were able to watch is important is because it tells us the Cathe Live stream was leaving our facility as it should. When we have an issue with a stream on our end, nobody will receive the stream. This was not the case yesterday. I think we had 5 people report a problem, but most people watching did not have the issue you're reporting. Hence, the problem is more than likely something to do with something downstream. We send the stream to Wowza, who then sends it to Akamai, who then sends it to various cloud servers, who then send the stream to you. Hence, it's nearly impossible to figure out what or who caused the issue.

Live streaming is always problematic, even for companies the size of Netflix and major broadcasters, and they have hundreds of highly skilled engineers that we do not. If this happens again, I would suggest force-closing the app and trying again. You may also need to clear you're cache if you're viewing in a browser.

This glitch may be a one-time thing, or it may be something that we or our partners need to fix. Since we can't duplicate it, we really can't solve your issue. But let's hope next week everything works.

There is really no way around this. It takes time to get set up after the previous class ends, and technical issues and other problems are very common and have to be addressed before we can start. But you're wisely doing what most people do, and that is waiting for the replay.

Unfortunately, this is not why I pay for the monthly subscription. I enjoy taking classes live. I use several other platforms with no issues. Of course there will be a glitch here and there, but their customer service is always apologetic when it happens.

I too was not able to stream the new Cathe Live until approximately 15 minutes into the workout. I tried with my Apple TV, my ipad and my iphone. I had a black screen.

SNM- As you have stated that you are not able to get set up and check for technical difficulties in order to start at 9:30 am (ET), why not start Cathe Live at 9:45am (promptly)? I prefer not to utilize my precious workout time waiting for Cathe Live to start. I would rather know that it will (in most instances) start on time and then I can plan my workout time accordingly. Cathe Live very rarely starts at 9:30 am. I do know that I am able to watch it after it is recorded. I also noticed that more than 5 people reported a problem. I logged into Face Book and there were multiple people responding concerning the problem with a black screen. I do not think that the problem was with your customers and their streaming, but rather the problem must have been on your end.
