Hi cathe!! :)

i've just 're-started' :p using weights again... and am really enjoying your crosstraining series. :)

but..i've noticed that my wrists have been bothering me. :( i'm trying to be really conscious of my form to keep my wrists fixed and straight...but...esp in the chest presses it seems to bother me. am i doing something wrong? do you have any suggestions as to how i can ease my wrist tension?

thanks so much! have a great weekend!

Hi Beanqueen! Glad to hear that you are back again.

I don't know if you eased back into to weight training, but many times if people come back too soon and jump in using the weight (or very close to the weight) that they used before they stopped, their wrists will tighten up due to excessive strain. Your body needs a good three week adjustment period to warmm up to weight training again. You do not want too stress the joints and ligaments before they are ready to handle the weight load.

In any case, if your wrists are tender, you should take a few days to a week off of using them during weight training and let them rest(this will limit your exercises some). Then cut back on the amount of weight you use in your weight training, especially where your wrists are concerned for at least a few weeks. In the mean time, do forearm strengthening exercises and wrist curls to strengthen your wrists. Good Luck!
