OT - Xmas present for baby?

I thought I would ask the mums here for advice! My niece will be about 6 months old at Christmas. I have already bought her lots of clothes as presents this year. They have a very small house and already have a lot of toys and stuff. So what do I buy?? I want to buy something special for her first Christmas, but looking around the toy shops just isn't giving me any inspiration!

Hi!

Why don't you buy her a keepsake Christmas ornament since it will be her first holiday? The Swarovski annual snowflake ornament is gorgeous and is about $50 or so. Or how about a baby bracelet or earrings that she can wear when she gets a bit older? Just a few ideas.

Happy Holidays!

What about a gift card to Toys R Us or Baby's R Us? That way her parents can get what she needs, whether it's more clothes or some new toys.

Me sister-in-law bought my daughter a keepsake throw blanket her first christmas year. It was so adorable and she still uses it to this day(she is 4 1/2 now). It has her name embroidered on it with a picture of a sleeping baby. I think throws are so pretty and so convenient for all ages. You can get them everywhere too.

Aila:)

Here's two ideas....

1. savings bond
2. stock in Disney - someone gave this to my little cousin when she was born and I thought it was very nifty. They framed a share of stock in Disney and gave it to my Uncle. She still has it and it has split and grown. I thought it was very unique.

You know...at 6 months old...toys are really a waste of money. I kept trying to buy them for my daughter and she really didn't start playing with anything until she was over a year old. I think cuddly friends are nice (teddy bears, etc.) One thing that my daughter really enjoyed was a Kenny Loggins CD that I bought for her. It was called...Return to Pooh Corner. It was great in the car to keep her soothed.

Also, the Baby Einstein videos are wonderful. She watched Baby Mozart all the time. And it won't drive her parents nuts. The Kenny Loggins might, because he's very vanilla.

I'll second the savings bond idea (or something similar). My grandmother gave my sisters and me a $25 or $50 savings bond for every birthday and christmas. By the time I graduated from high school, they had appreciated into a nice sum of money.

I have three children and the used to love to look at photos of family and friends when they were babies/toddlers. My niece is 6 months old and I just bought her a little photo album for Christmas. They sell them for babies at toy stores, or you can improvise, if you prefer. Before I give it to her, I'll put in some pictures of my kids, her parents, grandparents, etc. Close-up facials are best.

Really great ideas, thanks! I bought her a little Swarovski snowman. I was just thinking of toys and clothes and hadn't really considered buying her something that her parents can keep for her. Thanks again! :) :)
