Ordered my last Cathe dvds today

It is literally the end of an era
I remember the first Cathe VHS I ever bought. The PS Series, which is still my most used series.

I am sad about it all too. Cathe's Pure Strength series was my first - on VHS - I think around 1997. Pretty sure I purchased through the old Collage site; I don't think I ordered directly from Cathe until the BodyBlast series. So almost 30 years of working out with her. I do hope she continues to offer chaptered download workouts though.

My first purchase was Mega Step through Collage. Remember the catalog came through the mail? I would pour over it with my highlighter trying to decide what to buy (no video previews)! I had been doing Power Step by Reebok but the intensity of Mega Step sold me on Cathe (all those ricochetes and the butt blasters). So sad that excitement is gone. I don't think any instructors are still making DVDs. Hoping for news on a new "download" series soon.

Those Collage Catalogs were so much fun! I think we started purchasing VHS in the late 80's. We'd circle workouts we were interested in, sometimes highlight them; share the catalogs. Always discussed the workouts with fitness friends & people in our aerobic classes to see who had what and what they thought and who was pre-ordering. We couldn't hardly wait to get verbal reviews. Then the presales and all the anticipation of new workouts. It might have been like all the Swifties out there now. I think you're right fitdeb, few instructors offer dvds anymore. There are a few exceptions like that Baralates woman, Prevention/HealthyU, & Kathy Smith has a few, and Amazon still sells some older dvds). And many classic dvds are getting harder to find at reasonable prices.

My first Cathe workouts were Rhythmic Step and Power Hour and then I bought her CTX Kickbox workout (all VHS). I was so intimidated by her. And I remember not being able to move my arms the next day after doing the biceps section from CTX Kickbox. :p

Sad to see this era end. Fully digital migration is definitely happening. I heard there's a huge uproar going on right now with PlayStation users because Sony announced it's discontinuing its discs, too - so even huge companies are doing it. Will be interesting to see if the backlash they're getting from their customers will convince them to reverse course or not.
