If you could pick 5 things to do for optimal health (EXCLUDING diet and exercise), what would they be?

ooo good question!

1) visit a wellness spa once a year
2) get a massage once a week
3) do a meditation/spiritual retreat
4) spend more time doing nothing. I'm always on the go.
5) stop worrying so dang much. I've gotten a lot better but it still flares up!

Sleep 8 hours per night
Stay out of the sun
Meditate daily
Smile and laugh more

Ok, that's only four,....

Great question!

I love this type of thread. :D

1. 8+ hours of sleep every night
2. Good sex (i.e., meets the criteria of myself and my partner in terms of quantity and quality)
3. Engage in "healthy" (i.e., non-toxic personal and professional) relationships
4. Sustain quality (again--non-toxic: respect/tolerance), in-depth, thought-provoking conversations about spirituality, relationships, current events, etc.
5. Provide meaningful contributions to the community, which fosters a feeling of selflessness

Thanks for the ideas. I feel empowered!!!

1) Not sleep so much.
2) Make sure I get my vitamins. If I forget (especially the B-complex pill), I'm always dragging later in the day, no matter how well I eat.
3) Sex... I love men. What am I doing? Working too much overtime...
4) Instead of working so much overtime to generate money I need to get back to serious art-making and get my work out there. I can make more with my art than I can with overtime and I LOVE making art in a way I'll never love living at work. Doing something you love is always better than doing something you dread and don't find stimulating. Being at work all the time is like being on auto-pilot.
5) Read and write more and make better choices about both. My bookcases are FILLED with books I read YEARS ago, but not much that's new. I've never stopped writing but none of what I have on paper is as substantive as what I think. Funny but not very meaningful.

Man, I thought I couldn't come up with 5 but I can come up with lots more.

All of your answers are better than anything I could come up with, so I'll just hitch my wagon to your posts. :D I especially like the wellness spa idea!

Wow these are GREAT so far!!!! Things I wouldn't have even thought of like getting a massage or meditation. :)

1) grow the majority of my fruits and veggies myself, organically, and buy the rest organic.
2) move somewhere with clean air and no power lines
3) make sure to spend at least 20 minutes a day outside
4) not stress about anything (take a very zen attitude about things)
5) live in a house and work in an office built with 100% healthy materials

Yup, me too!! I am on my way with the fruits and veggies, but would *love* to have 100 percent healthy materials in my house.
