opinions needed!

I posted this on the ask cathe board as well, but thought I'd get other answer from here too...

I'm confused and no doubt the answer is more along the lines of "what works best for you" but I thought I'd ask anyway. I noticed you did a 12 wk rotation for someone once that followed the build the muscle and then lean it out concept, but then all your monthly rotataion for fat loss are all leaning (no pun intended) towards the lean it out through cardio and endurance weights route.

I've got exactly 12 weeks to blast this fat off before I see my sister who I haven't seen in over 3 years and have always had a friendly competition with on all matters having to do with fitness and our bodies. Besides that, she is somewhat disdainful of my use of videos and is a gymrat herself. I want to 1) look my best and 2) look my best through the use of Cathe videos to prove to her they are just as effective.

I feel like I have little room for error here so what's my best route? I'd like to keep it to 1 hr of exercise/day as I work fulltime but want to reach my goal enough that if need be I will double up my efforts


I'll add that I need to lose 20-30 lbs and figure 20 is quite doable but 30 is pushing it in 12 wks.

I don't have an answer for you with which Cathe's are best to use, but I just want to emphasize how important diet is. Diet is THE most important thing for fat loss.. I had been working out for 2 months and the scale wouldn't budge until I started dieting. I'm doing Jenny Craig..it's convenient, requires no thinking or planning..so it works well for me. But there are alot of effective eating plans out there, so find one that works for YOU, having a structure helps alot.

I would just say primarily rely on your diet for losing the pounds. Start out slow with cardio and then add more and higher intensity as you get closer to your deadline or see a slowing of your results. Focus on getting your strength workouts in and always push yourself to lift heavier!
 
Funny, I'm doing Jenny Craig too! So the diet thing is taken care of...now I just have to decide about the exercise

I'm interested to see what kind of exercise recommendations you get. I also want to get into the best shape that I can over this summer using Cathe.
 
just started actually and really don't officially start until tomorrow cuz I had a birthday this week and have been dealing with well meaning friends and coworkers taking me out to lunches and dinners. No more tomorrow though!
 
When I signed up last year for Msfit's plan, i learned alot.
One thing I did do, per her plan, and had great results with, was two weeks heavy training, two weeks endurance repeat etc... My muscles really responded to this well. I do alot of this now, for ex: I'll do two weeks gym style (sometimes three weeks), then two weeks pyramids, then back to gym style. This really works well for my body type, which is small boned, but i'm definately a hard gainer.

Repeat what everyone says about diet. If i ate the way i should, i would be super cut, as i work out hard, but my eating habits are not so good;-)
