Cathlete
Morning everyone,

Max Cardio Conditioning this AM. My whole body is hurting in new ways and I actually love it. Makes me feel like I'm working but I'm also plain exhausted and really hungry so I'm trying to keep on top of that.

Eats have been pretty good - I'm kinda feeling like Nina in that I'm eating too much of "good" things. I really am starting to notice a change in my body though and I'm anxious to see what else it can do in these next 3.5 weeks. I have a few dinners out scheduled but otherwise no real interruptions.

Today we have the girls' gym/dance classes from 10-12 but otherwise plan to hang around the house and rest. It's a rainy day and it just will be a good excuse to relax.

Have a great day everyone!

Night Lisa!

Add me to the list of EATING-CLEAN-FOOD-BUT-TOO-MUCH-OF-IT crowd. I was totally RAVENOUS yesterday. I am still not weighing, but I look and feel pretty lean.

Chris and I struggled to get Collin into bed last night - temper tantrum from hell! So it was late when I got to sleep, then I got woken up by a destructive cat at 2 am. So I overslept a bit this morning:eek:

Re: the cookies - I went to the store and got the ones from the dairy case that you just break apart and bake. I'm sure there are good, but nowhere near as good as anything that I make! So I keep my promise AND there is no temptation. SCORE!

Ugghhh, it is really only Wednesday?

Just finished bis and abs from Pure Strength - and tacked on a *few* lower body exercises. Will do PT stuff and more core (planks, glutes, low back) tonight.

This is for Lisa! All others skip on by! CE Nightmare! :)

asy Birthday Cupcakes
Makes 24 cupcakes

Store unfrosted cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. Cupcakes are best served the day they are frosted. This recipe can easily be cut in half to yield 12 cupcakes.

3 cups plain cake flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon table salt
4 large eggs , at room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups sugar
12 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 1/2 sticks), melted and cooled slightly
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
1. Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat oven to 325 degrees. Line 2 standard muffin/cupcake tins with paper or foil cupcake liners.

2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in medium bowl until combined. Whisk eggs and vanilla in large bowl until well blended. In steady stream, pour sugar into eggs, whisking constantly. Gradually whisk in melted butter, then add buttermilk. Add one-third of dry ingredients to bowl with wet ingredients. Using whisk, gently combine; a few streaks of flour should remain. Repeat twice with remaining dry ingredients. Continue to gently stir batter with whisk until most lumps are gone. Do not overmix.

3. Fill cupcake liners about two-thirds full. Bake, with tins side by side on middle rack, until cupcakes just begin to color and toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, 18 to 22 minutes. Cool pans on wire racks for 5 minutes, then remove cupcakes from pans, place back on rack, and cool to room temperature before frosting, about 1 hour.

uick Vanilla Frosting
Makes about 4 cups, enough for 24 cupcakes

If the frosting gets too soft while you ice the cupcakes, put the frosting back in the fridge for about 10 minutes.

3/4 pound unsalted butter (3 sticks), at room temperature
3 cups confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon table salt
Using electric mixer, beat butter in large bowl until fluffy, about 30 seconds. With mixer on low speed, add sugar, 1 cup at a time, and mix to combine. Increase speed to high and beat until pale and fluffy, about 1 minute. Reduce speed to medium-low and add milk, vanilla, and salt. Increase speed to high and beat until fluffy, 30 more seconds.

Quick Chocolate Frosting
Makes about 4 cups enough for 24 cupcakes

If the frosting gets too soft while you ice the cupcakes, put the frosting back in the fridge for about 10 minutes.

2 1/2 sticks unsalted butter at room temperature
2 3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips , melted and slightly cooled
2 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon table salt
Using electric mixer, beat butter in large bowl until fluffy, about 30 seconds. With mixer on low speed, add sugar, 1 cup at a time, and cocoa powder and mix to combine. Beat in melted chocolate and increase speed to high, beating until pale and fluffy, about 1 minute. Reduce speed to medium-low and add milk, vanilla, and salt. Increase speed to high and beat until fluffy, 30 more seconds.

Sorry for the AM sugar rush, guys!:p

Speaking of sugar, we ended up eating an apple dumpling in bed. It was good! Back to CE today!

No plans for the day other than bible study tonight. Hoping to get some weights in during J's nap.

Angie, Yay DOMS! Good for you! Keep those portions in check and keep seeing those results!
Maybe I missed something but do the girls not have regular school right now?

Katie, I HATE that hungry feeling!
WTG on the cookies! I won't eat the pre0made ones either. Blech! Or at least I tell myself they'd be Blech!:p
Good job getting a WO in!

Morning ladies

Angie I think the closest thing to meso 2 is the pyramids and MIS.DOMS will make you feel tired.

Katie that's one workout I don't have. Good going with the cookies.

Kate what are you tying to do...temptation?;) It's a good think I speed read.

Yesterday was crazy at work but the day went fast. When I got home I just rested in my room. The kids made their own dinner.

Back from dance and such, lunch done, ready for nap.

Kate, the girls don't have schools on Wednesdays - all of France is like that. Strange. But all their ex-curr stuff is on Wed. Your apple dumplings sound fabulous and so do the cupcakes.

Katie, I'm finding that if I'm really hungry, I try to eat every 2 hours rather than 3 and it seems to help. Have a good day!

Robin, do you work today? Sorry you had a crazy day y'day. Thanks for the advice about Pyramids/MIS.

I think I'm going to go crash on the couch while girls watch Higglytown Heroes (I love this show - good for social studies!).

BBL.

Morning!

I must sleep wrong a lot-my neck is stiff again! And I think I'm logging too much computer time-my right wrist is killing me and benching a 30# weight doesn't help! Library and a playdate on tap today, dance tonight but we're carpooling I think. Dinner was good-Darrin loved it-didn't taste like his mom's pot roast;) Weight is down too so I'm a happy camper today. Workout will be legs-probably 4DS and abs-I keep neglecting them. Gonna go marinate a pork tenderloin for dinner too. Oh, and my dad's coming by to take Milla around for walk-a-thon donations from his favorite stores and restaurants-how nice is he?!

Angie, Congrats on your acceptance! You're going to do great! Enjoy your quiet day-I like the Backyardigans too-good history and ss lessons!

Katie, sorry about the rough night-we had one with Nevena the other night-not fun at all! I could never be a co-sleeper! Break and Bakes are a great idea and way easy too! Although I have no problem inhaling them myself!

Kate, holy recipes! I was telling Darrin about your homemade dumplings last night-he practically started drooling!

Robin, hope today is easier for you! I love when Danica makes lunch or breakfast or dinner:)

Gotta make breakfast!

Hey Klaudia! Sounds like a busy day ahead. ^5 on the scale down. I refuse to weigh myself. All of my jeans are fitting really well now and I have to remember that's the most important thing. Thanks for the congrats on my acceptance. I forgot to mention that here - I got accepted for my online program. Will start classes in January! I'm thrilled.

Have any of you tried or use bare minerals make up? I'm intrigued by it. I think I'm finally old enough to wear make up. My skin just isn't what it used to be! :)

Robin, Babies are wonderful, but there is somethign pretty awesome about big kids too!:D Glad you could rest up!

Angie, No makeup advice here - I don't wear it either.:)

Klaudia, How was the roast?
I need to do abs too - thanks for the reminder!
Your dad is a peach!

-
One off to school, one to go!
Breakfast was a mishmosh of clean eats - oatmeal, toast, fruit
Lunch - not sure yet!
PM snack - Honeycrisp & GF granola
d - burger w/ lf cheese on an Arnold Thin. Salad.

Have you ladies had those Arnold things? Oh my, they are so good! I like to toast them and spread pb on them! mmmmmm

Good Morning Chatty Ones ! :)

I just finished iCycle (can't remember what number), 40 min. ride, 10 min. abs, 10 min. yoga. I love this one !!!

Kate- apple dumplings in bed. What could be better ??? :)
Angie- I'm so impressed with your workouts!! and 3 cheers for your acceptance to school !!!!!!
Klauda- I also woke up with a very stiff neck. I was thinking I slept wrong, but you may have something there with "too much computer time". I might have to pay closer attention to that myself !!!

Hi to everyone else !
Off to make my morning protein pancake !!!

Becky

morning all. busy day here with more pavement pounding. it is so discouraging. i had a good long run this am and did my abs. legs later on. i vow to be a tidy eating machine today! clean is not too hard these days, but tidy is. i will try angies trick today!

angie, great job with the wos. are they fun?

katie, sorry for the bad night - glad you slept in a bit. good going with the cookiues.

kate, la la la, i cannot read your posts:p jk!

becky, nice wo. what kind of bike do you have?

robin, sorry for the long day y-day. glad your kids were self sufficient.

gotta get a move on it. will bbiab

Kate, what are Arnold thins?

Becky, great workout! Enjoy your pancake!

Nina, morning! Good luck with your eats today. The insanity WOs are a weird kind of fun. I enjoy the variety and like to push myself but they're not RS or Imax fun! :)

I need to get off my computer... eek.

Angie, if I looked like you and Kate, I wouldn't wear makeup either! I haven't used Bare Minerals but I have used Neutrogena and L'Oeral brands of mineral makeup and I like them-they're light and don't make my skin break out and they're cheap:)

Kate, the roast was good-Darrin said he didn't even need a knife! I bought the Aunt Milly's version of the thins-haven't tried them yet. I've also been using the La Tortilla Factory wraps-whole wheat, high fiber (7g), protein (5g) and only 50 calories!

Becky, the neck and wrist pain are both on the right side so that's what I'm thinking. I need to wean myself!

Nina, great run! Could you maybe look at something else to do, like substitute teaching? It's usually a flexible schedule and you could still look for a vet job. Just a thought. http://www.dtujax.com/subs.htm

becky, awesome wo, as usual! wish i could get it in gear to get my wo's done in the a.m..... sigh....

nina, i like kl's idea of sub teaching!

angie, at's are a bread product - but very thin. just right for me. a whole regular bun gags me:p

klaudia, you are beautiful! oh my word!
i'll have tolook for those wraps

hi ladies, gosh you are chatty in the am =) i am more of a night person usually. brkfst was scrambled egg, wheat toast, 1/2 peach, coffee w/skim and 1/2t sug. jusy got back from a quick 2 miles with JJ. gym on tap when he wakes up and i hope to fit in ub wts later. dh took a few days off for bathrm reno, cant believe JJ is sleeping thru all the demo right now!

kate, thanks for the warning on those cc recipes -- i really did skip them! thank goodness. your skin is beautiful in that pic! of course you dont wear makeup =) and i loved the cathlete shirt. ill have to gift myself when i meet my wt goal. an apple dumpling in bed with your honey? that sounds fab!

angie, i have used bm and like it fine but its heavier coverage than i like for everyday, only for "going out" occasions for me. otherwise i use a tinted moisturizer as foundation. ITA that drugstore versions are prob comparable and most certainly half the price.

klaudia, glad that roast came out well! how was the spice level with leaving out the ranch and adding extra something (cant remember what lol)...

katie, what a great idea to do the store bought dough! that stuff is so super sweet, i hate it as much as raisins =) well, really those of us that cook and bake are just cookies snobs lol. youre not weighing...do you find you obsess? i sure do and need to stop. its not all abt the #s. we know this but still!

nina, glad you had a great run and good luck with your job search. im doing the same and its not easy in my field/level right now.

becky, icycle sounds great! could try them at the gym, i just about die of boredom on cadio machines. super cardio hater over here (boston pronunciation: supah cahdio hatah ovah heeeeaahh).

robin, how fab that your kids made their own dinner!! i am too uptight abt the kitchen and cook. lol. its hard for me even to let dh and ds make themselves a sandwich!

gosh, did i miss anyone?

the end =)
