Online maternity shopping

Hi Cathe,

Back when you were pregnant with Eric, you were asked about some maternity clothes that you got online (I think :-hmmm). Do you remember the web addresses of those sites? I am in desperate need of decent maternity clothes and I'm tired of walking around looking like a tent :)

Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Sep-10-01 AT 01:14PM (Est)[p]Hi Alli!

I'm not Cathe, but I thought I'd write in about my woes with maternity shopping. Shopping for maternity wear is such a pain for me because I'm petite (4'11") and most maternity clothes are cut longer for taller women. It's really annoying. The shirts usually look like dresses on me and the pants are just way too long. However, I bought a couple of cute shirts from estyle.com (babystyle.com). The shirts have a tailored look, 3/4 sleeves, and are cut a bit shorter than typical maternity shirts. I'm a bit unhappy about the return policy for estyle.com. You have to pay for the return shipping costs. The Gap and Old Navy both have a maternity section on their online store and FREE returns! You could either return your items for free via mail or return them to any store. The Gap has petite sizes for short women, too. I just ordered a couple of pants from the Gap. Old Navy has some cute stuff, very inexpensive compared to other maternity shops, but I just haven't found anything for me, yet. IMO, most maternity shops, online or not, are way too expensive, especially for clothes that will be worn for a limited amount of time. I think on estyle.com I noticed some suggestions of buying different outfits/clothes for each trimester.

Sorry to rant. I love being pregnant, but I hate shopping for maternity clothes.

Hi there! I like www.fitmaternity.com. Also, we had some outfits made in our past videos by a company called Dangerboy. I had asked them to custom make a few maternity tops for me out of our fitness fabrics that we used in our videos. They did this for me as well as for some others who asked. I don't know if they still do it but I suppose you can email and ask if you are interested. Here is a link to their site http://www.danger-boy.com/frames.html

Thanks for the links Melanie. I'll check them out.

I have similar problems as you. Although I'm 5 4 1/2, I have very short legs. Put short legs with the standard maternity shirts and I look like a Christmas tree without the decorations!

I went to Mimi Maternity's outlet store today and got some things that I will hopefully like. A couple of pairs of jeans, sweater sets, maternity thong panites (can you believe it?!), a button up shirt with a form fitting tank to be worn underneath. And some standard tops that didn't seem to flare too much at the bottom. The prices were very reasonable too.

Even though we don't wear them that much, at this point in our lives, I really feel that we need to feel good about how we look. When your body is going in all kinds of directions and your gaining fluid and weight it gets pretty hard (does this sound good enough to tell hubby when he finds out how much I spent ;-))

Thanks again Melanie. You must be so excited to be so close!!
