Oneway bars and whey protein

I just tried...well, tried to try .... a Oneway bar with Designer Whey and it is eeewwww....yuk!x( Nasty tasting and the after taste is even worse....I was so hoping these would be good!

Is the gross taste due to the whey protein? I was thinking about following a eating plan from Fitness RX and there are a few foods that add whey protein ...like smoothies, etc. If it's the protein, I ain't gonna make it! :7 :( ;-)

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Kim! Most of the protein bars are terrible & filled w/sugar. They don't really hold any nutritional value to them at all. If I were you I would just eat snacks such as an apple w/cheese, ff plain yogurt w/muesli, a piece of fruit & a handful of nuts, etc. instead of the protein bars. You don't have to take a protein shake either you can just eat food instead. Many of us use the shakes b/c their convenient nothing more. Designer Whey is a very good one or I've been using a meal replacement packet from ProLab Lean Mass 20 packets in a box. I got mine in chocolate. Its one of the best tasting protein powders out there. I've tried many of them & believe me when I say this one is GOOD! HTH, Kathy:D

I agree with Kathy. The protein bars are convenient, but contain a lot of sugar. I carry a small jar of sunflower or pumpkin seeds for a between meal snack. They are just as convenient, inexpensive and far more healthy. No sugar to trigger carb cravings later. A small spoonful of peanut butter makes another great snack.

I use protein powder (Spirutein) mixed with soy milk or yogurt as an after weights snack, but otherwise, I just stick to whole foods.

I couldn't handle the Oneway or the Detour bars. Way way way too sweet for me. Got any ideas what to do with 2 boxes of them?
You can't buy just one bar on line. Drats!!! hahahah

I still eat my Almond Fudge and my Brownie Cliff bars and I use Nature's Best Isopure whey protein powder. I alternate between the one with carbs and the zero carbs. I liked what the label said on this brand of protein.
This powder completely dissolves and isn't lumpy when I mix it with stuff, which is mostly yogurt. I buy it on line at www.vitamin-planet. com and it comes in a wide variety of flavors.

I am allergic to so many many of the real foods at this time, I have to compensate some other way or I'd dry up and blow away. :p Wah...I can't even have my most favorite food...peanut butter. I tried Cashew butter and nope...didn't work for me.:(
Anyway, this whey doesn't taste like anything, just the flavor that you get...strawberry, pina colada, etc.

Thanks, ladies.

I am trying to find something I can grab to take to work for breakfast at 6 a.m.!! I know I should plan something the night before and have it ready...but I don't...siigghh... I'm gonna work on this.

I really like Kashi bars, they are kinda sweet, but under 300 calories, so maybe I'll just stick with them...and improve my eating according to youze guys suggestions. :7

Thanks again,
KimS
