One-pound-increment dumbbells

Dear Cathe,

You've mentioned (in a couple workouts) it would be nice to have free weights in one-pound increments. They are available, although I've not seen them in chrome. I've found them in either neoprene or vinyl-covered. I've currently got 3-, 4-, 5-, 6-, 7-, and 8-pound dumbells (a 9-pound is available, too). From there I go to 10, 12, etc. It's definitely helped me to be able to fill in the "gaps."

Best wishes!

Just adding to your info:
www.power-systems.com sells both neoprene and vinyl-covered ones in 1-pound increments from 1 to 10 pounds.

Also, "Platemates" are magnetized weights that you can use to add either 2.5 pounds (with two) 1.25 pounds (with one, or with two smaller ones) or whatever-the-heck-is-half-of-1.25-pounds (with one small one) to metal dumbbells (not neoprene or vinyl coated though, I don't think.

Marla,

That's great to know. What I've done in the past is hold my 5 pound dumbbell with a 1 and a 1/4 pound barbell plate. It's a tad awkward, but works.

Love my platemates! I think Kathryn told me about them. I got them from fwonline.com. I highly recommend them!

Thanks for mentioning the plate mates. I meant to in my post but forgot. However, I found that the plate mates really only fit the larger weighted dumbbells and not the smaller ones. But, I use mine for slow and heavy chest.
