"Oldies but Goodies"

Jul

Cathlete
Just a curious question. What are some of your oldie videos that you refuse to get rid of? I have many oldies from before I discovered Cathe, but there are only a few that I still actually do now & then & will probably never get rid of. (Who would want them anyway???) A couple are ESPN Fitness Pros Step tape (too easy, too short, but fun!), NAC Interval tape, Kathy Kaehler Fitness System, Kathy Smith power Step. To name a few. Any other "dinosaurs" lurking in your tapes? Does anyone else like any of these?

Have a great day!!

laughing!

Jul, gotta laugh about that ESPN Fitness Pros step tape, I have it too!! It IS too short and too easy but fun! The perfect thing for an unmotivated day! Other "dinos" in my closet include BodyShaping Step Workout with Kendall Hogan and the BodyShaping Female Eye Candy, short but fun. Denise Austin's Stretch and Flex (really old but a wonderful stretch!) and Hit the Spot Abs (believe it or not one of my favorite ab tapes!). Still love Kathy Smith's Peak Fat Burning and both NAC tapes (Measured Intensity and Interval workout) and Crunch Master Class Aerobics which is too too fun! Even older than that, a couple of Best of Bodies in Motion tapes I gasped at the time to pay 19.95 for, they date back to the days when Gilad was working out on the deck of the USS Constitution!!

not many...

My very first tape was Fat Burning Workout w/ Kathy Smith and I still do Power Step. It can still kick my butt! Otherwise most of my tapes are fairly new.

I confess

that I still have Jane Fonda's Workout Challenge (what a wuss cardio section), a couple of Charlene Prickett videos (Charlene and the Bench Boys, Rev Up and Rev Up the Sequel), and a Tamilee Webb "Buns of Steel" step workout Version 7. Finally, I have a step video called "Platform of Power," one called "Step Reebok", and of course all my Firm videos,

Another Swede!

No, I'm not Swedish, but my husband is of Swedish descent (Magnuson) and I live with a 19-year old Swedish au pair. I can't remember what city Petra is from right now ... she is our 4th Swedish au pair. One year we had a Norwegian au pair. My husband likes to torture the poor girls with his terrible, terrible Swedish. I am so excited to learn that there is a Swede out there who is doing Cathe workouts! What city are you from in Sweden, Marcia? One of my au pairs was from a rural area of Sweden and said she loved it here, but she really missed her favorite meal of moose and potatoes! (We're not too big on moose here in the U.S.)

Oldies

Both NAC tapes (though I still use the Interval tape occasionally). And I kept Kathy Smith's Fat Burning Workout forever, until recently I gave it to a friend who joined Weight Watchers. What can I say -- it was the tape I started with about 10 years ago, so I had a soft spot for it, ugly outfits and all!

Amy, do you ever do Jane Fonda's workout challenge?

I must confess that I still have that tape, too, and every once in a while I think I ought to do it. I want to see if it's as hard as I remember it. I remember some pretty tough stuff in there--especially that "balance" section after the so-called aerobics! There's a review of that tape at VF and the reviewer makes a comment about the "most annoying guy ever" leading the aerobics. So true!

To Kimberly

I haven't done that video in years -- you are right, the balance section was killer. I remember that I got that video the day of the Challenger tragedy in January of 1986 -- isn't it funny how we remember big national events? It's like when Kennedy got shot, I was in my phoenics class in 4th grade...alas, I digress.

Anyway, I remember that I was so unfit that I couldn't get through that cardio section and thought I never would -- I even remember the day I got through it.

The lead guy Peter, is obviously a dancer and has spectacular legs, but he, Jane, and Greg the other guy in that part make me want to hurl! Remember how Jane said towards the end of that section, "Peter, you're killing me!" She's about to DIE. Anyway, I like the hi-lo choreography because it is dancy (except for that playing the banjo part that is totally dorky).

Sorry for the long discourse, but memories....

Loved ESPN fitness pros

I don't have any of the videos but I loved to watch them on TV. It did lead to a grunch (great big bunch) of Tamilee Videos that I refuse to get rid of...gotta love Buns of Steel. I had the opportunity of meeting Pepper at a convention and went completely gaga over him

.

I am a hoarder and find it difficult to get rid of any tape...so I still have my Jane Fonda tape that came with that dinky little step plus tons of other older tapes that I doubt I would do ever again.

This thread does make me think of one old one that I should dig out...anyone ever do Grace Lazenbys Step 2 it..the next level. It was done in 94 and was fairly advanced in choreography for me back then...probably still is

. I remember it as a fun tape...hmmmm I wonder what ever happened to Grace?

Cathe's "Get in Shape for Sweden"

My sister is going to Sweden next month with her fiance who's family are Swedish immigrants. Actually they seem to have their feet in both countries & still have a home in Sweden. Anyhow I gave her Cathe's wedding tape but dubbed it "Get in Shape for Sweden." Next year it will be the wedding tape again.

very far in the North

Hi Daphne!

I live in a small town in along the coast of Northern Sweden, called Ranea (but with two little circles over the a's) Petra will know what I mean. I'm an American, actually but was an exchange student here years ago and to make a long story short, married a Swede. I have lived in the very Southern part of Sweden and Stockholm as well.

Tell Petra that she needs to spread the video culture in Sweden. That is my only complaint about living here. Getting videos is not easy!

Ta det lugnt!
