Old Farmer meets a Follower of Cathe

Got to tell this...

Yesterday my tiller broke down about 10 times! Hubby calls a friend that knows of this old farmer that would come with his big ole' plow and get our garden tilled really good. So he comes over looking like he just stepped off the Andy Griffith show or something back in the 50's with his old plow and he is wearing a cute straw hat that ties under his chin. My hubby was outside with him at first as I was busy inside and then I came out to see how things were going. The farmer looks at me and tells my hubby, "You gonna let her get her hands dirty"? I was up for the challenge then!!! I'll show him! You see, we have huge rocks in our garden some that weigh as much as 90 or more pounds since we live nestled inbetween mountains. Hubby was out collecting them in putting them in a pile. I marched over to grab this huge one, I think it weighed about 60 pounds. Farmer then tells hubby, "I didn't see you grab one as big as that one she has"! I laughed. Then I have to go inside for abit. While I am inside the Farmer tells hubby, "damn, your wife is strong...that rock must have been 75 pounds or more" (I will let him think it weighed that much)LOL!

That just really made my day...getting our garden plowed and getting a nice compliment. Just goes to show you that when you are fit, you can do almost anything!

Actually, I would have let DH or the old guy lift the rock. Even though I could do it myself...Of course, I'm not super-crazy about gardening.

That is so cool! Way to bust wide open that weak female stereotype! Your garden sounds like it's going to be beautiful.

Take care,
Angie

All right Charlotte! I bet this guy is sharing the story with everyone..."I met this superwoman the other day..."

I had something similar with the UPS guy. We have a steep driveway and I always try to meet him to make things easier. One delivery was particularly heavy (can't recall what it was) and I went to take it from him. He said "Oh no, this one is too heavy for you, I'll carry it up". I smiled and said "Let me give it a try" and scooped it up no problem. His jaw dropped and he said I could have job with UPS because there were men who complained about lifting what I did. I told him I workout at home with Cathe dvd's and lifting weight is not that big of a deal, but that if I had to do it all day I might be complaining....trying to be humble, but smiling the rest of the day:)
