OK--which of U starts with abdominals?

Curious: how many of you begin your workouts with an ab routine? Instead of leaving it for the end? How many of you do abs separately from the rest of your workout, such as workout in the morning, abs later in the day?

How many morning exercisers begin with abs, and how many of you fall asleep 'cause you're on the floor and you just barely got out of bed? :D (not that it's happened to me)

I just did Leaner Legs, and started the abs section at the end...and everything in me said "uh-uh. No. Nope! NO!"

When I used the services of a personal trainer, she always had me start with a brief warm-up, then straight on to ab work. We ended every session with additional ab work, so abs were hit twice at every session. It was tough but my abs were in great condition back then, much better than they are now.;(

When I do abs at the gym I do them with my biceps/back workout. I superset them with my first two bicep exercises.

Funny you should ask. I am notorious for skipping abs at the end of a workout. I just don't want to do them by the time I am done. For instance, last night I just FFWD through the MM abs and did the stretch. I promised myself that I would do them after cardio today and I hope to keep that promise. Anyway, I was thinking that I should begin my workout with them and get it over with.

I do them at the end. However, I am doing ctx upper/abs and I think I will do them at the beginning. My arms are so tired after the weights, I have a hard time holding planks for long. Melissa

I only do abs first in the case of PUB where I just CAN'T get through that abs section if I do the work out first! :p LOL

I have done abs alone on rest days and have left them for later in the day if I'm rushed as well. I try not to though cause it's too easy to talk myself out of it if I don't do it with the rest of my work out. :)

Okay, just go with me on this one...

I would love to start the workout with abs... but when I was talking to a more experienced trainer about it, he said that you run the risk of cramping during your cardio if you start with abs, so he always ends the session with them rather than ever starting that way.

I have done it both ways, and I agree that if you do them at the beginning sometimes, you will have more energy for them that you would not have if you did them at the end, and you clearly aren't as likely to skip them altogether!!

I haven't started with abs in a long time. I did it before and never had a problem. Maybe I'll start doing more of that, especially on non-cardio days.

These days, I almost always do them on cardio days so I can really concentrate on them. They're a trouble spot for me. I often do them before I take the kids to school and then do my cardio afterward. If I do them on weight training days, I usually do them first.

I am with Wendy on this one. I usually do the ab work at the end of the workout, but am going to start doing the ab work for PUB first, or I will never get through it and hold the pike!
