OK pains?

I've been trying to do MIS with the same weights as Cathe, which gets me through legs but by chest I'm completely whipped (haha meaning I could only do the legs!). I remember a recent post noting that working your chest should work the area kind of by your armpit (or at least that you'd feel it there). When I do it, what fatigues me most is actually my shoulder, more specifically my outer shoulder. And also sometimes my elbows and arms. Does this mean my arms were already pre-worked and just can't do it, or is my form wrong? Or (probably) I should use a much lower weight?

thanks anyone!

Hi Ruppie...with me I feel it in the shoulders mostly, and sometimes the elbows...but then the next day I feel it in the armpit area. I used to think I was doing it wrong, but I don't worry about it anymore!

probably just means your chest is stonger, arms/shoulders are weaker...It would probably go away if you brought up the weaker body parts...

Chest presses are a compound exercise, that work not only the chest, but the shoulders and triceps. If you want to make sure you work your chest to the max, you can do a "pre-exhaust" set of chest flyes, which isolate the chest, and pre-fatigue it, before doing presses. The goal is to get the chest to fatigue on the chest press before the shoulders and triceps give out.

The shoulder and arm fatigue is normal, but I'd be careful about the elbow fatigue if it seems to be in the joint. It could also be a first warning of tendinitis of the elbow.

And unless I'm doing pullovers (a chest/back exercise), I don't really feel chest work in the armpit area, but rather right under the breast.
