Well ladies, tomorrow is my big day. I teach my first step class with a class following called "Abs,Back and Stretch". Actually this will be my very first class ever and I'm nervous. I've come up with an hour long step routine. It's comprised of 4 shorter step rountines with one interval blast after the 2nd routine.
I'm really scared that I'm going to forget it so I wrote everything down. But would it be stupid to have notes with me? It's actually a lot to remember and being nervous makes me forget stuff!! AAUUGGGHHH!
And I'm not sure I'll be able to "put it all together" in the end. I just pray I don't have a panic attack during the middle of the class and run away screaming!!!
I've really rehearsed a lot so I'm hoping it will pay off and go smoothly. We'll see........

Good luck, Carolyn! You'll do GREAT! I don't see anything wrong with having notes - I see instructors do it all the time. Let us know how it goes!!

Good luck, Carolyn. We're rooting for you. I don't think it's stupid to have notes with you but I don't teach. I know that where I work we had a couple of girls that were new teach step class and they had notes.

Nothing wrong with writing notes, I do it all the time! I did spin forever and always kept notes with me. You will do awesome! After the first five minutes you will wonder what in the world you were ever nervous about!

In every class i have ever been to, the instructor had notes. no big deal, don't worry. you'll do great and we want to hear all about it when you get home. it'll be fun!! nothing to be nervous about!

Hey Carolyn, don't worry, you will do fine!!! And there is no problem having notes, that is no big deal and it will help you feel more comforatable. Let us know how it goes!

GOOD LUCK!! I agree with the others - every good instructor I have ever had uses notes. The class sounds like fun! Can I go? :p I'm sure you'll do fine.

Hi Carolyn -

First of all Congratulations on your first class! And like other have said - I am sure after the first 5 minutes you will be on a roll and it will be a great class! Good luck!

Hi Carolyn,

Just think of the great feeling of accomplishment you will have after the class is over! Best of luck. Let us all how how it went..

Lisa

Carolyn,

Good luck with your class tomorrow! I teach as well and I've found that it's best to keep it simple when starting out. Stick with what you know and don't try anything new. You'll have enough to worry about and you'll be very nervous until you get your groove.

If a dry erase board is available that is a great way to write what you are planning to do then it's right in your face. I found that holding a piece of paper in my hand was very distracting for me and I never was able to read the paper and teach at the same time. Now, I might have it nearby and before class begins and at breaks I'll try to sneak a peak.

You will soon get a feel for what does and does not work...more than anything...have fun!!

You will be great! I found the most important thing is don't throw too much out there at once. Keep it simple and if you find something isn't working just move on. I will be rooting for you. Once that adrenaline kicks in you will be on automatic pilot. Let us know how it goes.

Thank you all!! I really wish there was a dry erase board in my class. What a great idea!
I can't tell you how good it feels to get words of encouragement!!
I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow!

You'll do great, Carolyn / Pixie9! A lot of instructors use notes. If you blank out, just put 'em into a plie jack / criss-cross recovery interval.

Carolyn good luck! Once you start you'll be fine! You're just having the preclass jitters!

Let us know how it goes! :)

A-Jock LOL!! :+ :+ Hardly a recovery at all! Seriously, though Carolyn I hope your first class is wonderful. You should have someone record it for you! A wonderful keepsake!
