Ok, I am going to dare to ask my question .......

of you very fit ladies.

Here goes: I exercise(mostly kickboxing, step is aggravating my knees and feet these days), lift weights(to Cathe), I don't eat too clean but not junky either(no excessive white flour, pasta or sugar)( whole wheat no enriched flour in my bread which I don't eat that often when I do). But I can't seem to lose weight. I can't go totally clean we are renovating our house my kitchen is almost non existant, I have a family to feed with growing boys. Oh I can go down a few pounds but they tend to come back on in no time flat. I really do want to be happy with my weight but it is my midsection that I am NOT happy with. I really am coming to terms with being a fatly fit woman or a fitly fat woman. I know I will be told to up my cardio or something but because of my knees, and feet I really can't up my intensity anymore, if anything I am having to lessen my intensity some. :(

I am also space challenged at the moment since we are renovating our whole house while living in it!! Sooo I am wondering if I should just hold off on doing anything about anything until the renovation is over and just try to hold my own with my weight and workouts?:)

And for the record, I will never be as skinny or as physically fit as most of the women on this board, and I realize that and am ok with that .... really. I am not that strict with my diet but I can control it to a point when I want to see results. It is just that the results aren't happening anymore no matter what I try these days. sigh.;(

Sorry this has gotten long and I am almost embarrassed to post it:+ .

Thanks for any and all input!!:D

Annette...based on what you have typed you already know what the problem is. Until YOU decide that you want to eat better and until you decide to put your very best efforts into your workouts...you will continue the have the same problems.

I understand that your knees bother you, but there is plenty that you can do to get around that. For instance, there are several women on this forum that use a rebounder to lessen the impact when doing cardio.

No need to be embarrassed and no need to put yourself down by saying that you will never get to the point of being as physically fit as women on this forum. You have defeated yourself before you even begin. You have to believe that anything is possible because it is...It's not about being like somebody else...it's about being the best that you can be!

When you're really ready to get started and when you're tired of making excuses for why you can't keep the weight off...let us know. We'll be here...

Hi Annette! wow, lots of challenges with your house :) Well, I'm not sure what kind of space you are working with, but is there enough room for at least the step? I thought of Lowmax right away as a good low impact, high intensity workout. A lot of Cathe's workouts can be modified to low intensity moves. She has some awesome low impact high intensity in KPC as well. Also, what about walking outside? There's lots of space out there!

As far as being fit but heavier, I don't think anyone has to resolve themselves to that if they don't want. I bet if you cleaned up your diet just a bit (or as much as possible) you would see a lot of changes. It is not too hard to find snack and meals that would fit this bill. Snacks like fruit, walnuts/almonds. I like those fat free tuna cans w/ crackers (individual size). If we know more about the kitchen situation maybe we can help a bit more. Good luck w/ everything!

I love all the ladies/guys too .we will help you .:) :) :)

Annette you certainly shouldn't feel embarassed. I actually admire many of the things you said. We all have different body types & IMO one of the first steps to being MENTALLY fit is accepting who you are.

Also let me just say I have no idea how women with families manage to stay fit--I live alone so I don't have temptation all around me 24/7. One of the things I admire about so many women in this forum is their discipline in the face of temptation, and the time management they must have to use to work out & still take care of the kids.

Anyway, I say do what makes you happy. Very few of us are professionals when it comes to fitness. It's not like we're competing or anything, we do it to look good, be healthy, & feel good about ourselves. Personally, being built like a teenage boy, I often feel jealous when I see a voluptuous woman who's also fit & healthy. So if you're OK with your body type, don't sweat it!

Well, sweat it, but only to a Cathe workout. :)

HI Annette, it looks like you have some challanges there :)
You shouldn't give up on yourself though! Not at all! and don't compare yourself to anyone else, you are you. We all have different goals and body types, everyone is beautiful and fit in their own way.

I live in an apartment with my fiance and my two dogs, I can appreicate your space situation BUT! i do manage to move the dogs out of the way and my fiance off of the couch for about an hour and a half everyday. ;-) They complain but things can be moved out of the way.

As far as eating better, you listed everythng yourself. I think you know what you can do all you have to do is stick to it! And don't stop working out.

Good Luck Annette.

Hi Annette,

I would bet that one thing that may be throwing a monkey wrench into your efforts is the stress of dealing with your renovation project. That can suck a lot out of you physically and mentally.

DH and I are at the beginning point of what's going to be a fairly obtrusive renovation/addition project and I know that the workouts (at least the number of them) are going to be taking a back seat to getting that done - we're doing most of the interior and finish work ourselves.

I would say do what you can for now and don't stress too much about what you think you "should" be doing. Once your house is back in order, you can get the workouts back nto full swing. :)

As for cardio and your knees, have you ever considered getting a spinner or exercise bike to supplement the kickboxing?
