I've seen the pictures. So how'd you get those fantastic abs just six months after having little Eric? What kind of routine are you following for your abs? Inquiring minds (possessed by women who presently feel like they have swallowed beach balls) want to know your secrets!

I want to know too!

Hi Cathe!

Are you still breastfeeding Eric? I wish I could look like that when I breastfeed! I'm sure you get compliments wherever you go but I just wanted to add that you do look incredibly marvelous and I am in awe at the tone of your abs just 6 months after having your baby. I would love to know your workout schedule:)

PS only 3 days to go until my due date!

Personally-

I would have been thrilled to look that good before my pregnancies. I look at my belly, and wonder if we are the same species

Mandy- I can never lose weight when I breastfeed. In fact, I am one of the few who can gain weight. But I think it is important enough that I put up with this. Not happily though.

Her videos tell us what to do!!!!

Cathe told us that her regime to getting her pre-pregnancy bod back is duplicated in her new 6-pack series.

Just do what she shows us to do, and we'll be all set. No magic stuff, just sweatin' and discipline in our exercise AND in our EATIN'!

Hi Mandy Lee!

Thanks for the compliments. No, I am no longer breast feeding Eric. I had to put him on formula while I was medicated for some tooth surgery. After that, I didn't go back to it since he seemed to do very well with Enfamil.

Surprisingly, I lost 5 pounds within days of no longer breast feeding. I always heard that breast feeding made many women return back to normal weight faster. In any case, weight loss was unimportant to me since Eric and his health was my top priority.

As far as my workout schedule, after 7 weeks of delivering, I went back to teaching my classes (I dropped from teaching 6 per week to four per week due to time constraints with little Eric). I also came back at half the intensity for about 4 weeks. Little by little I increased my intensity and added more weight training. At the three month mark I was training one body part per day at moderate to heavy weight for about 20 to 25 minutes and doing my four classes per week. Then I got very involved with the videos and had less time. I cut my weight training back to pretty much what you will see on the 6 pack videos(give or take doing pull ups and adding in some weight machines). My cardio remained my four classes up until rehearsals which obviously increased it to about six days a week(for a three week period). Now I am back to my four classes and training one body part per day again. Hope this helps. I'm wishing you the best Mandy Lee!

Hi Hazel!

First of all, how are you feeling? I've been thinking about you.

Thank you for the compliments, your so sweet.

Ironically, working my abs in the traditional crunch fashion is what I have spent the least amount of time on. I maybe do two four minute traditional ab crunch workouts per week. I honestly think it is the intense punching in kick boxing that brought the abs back to the surface. Also, the cross training effects of that with the new core stabilization exercises(I have included a few in the 6 pack series) and the variety of cardio that I have been doing. Hang in there, you'll be just fine!!! Best of luck with everything!

Core stabilization exercises?

I have heard this term alot lately, but what does it mean? Thanks.
Jackie

Core stabilization

Your core stabilizer muscles are all the muscles of the trunk region(your entire abdominal region, spinal muscles, and pelvic muscles). There has been a big push in the fitness industry over the last few years promoting and teaching the benefits of functional fitness. This simply means focusing on strengthening and conditioning the muscles that will assist us in the movements of everyday life. A big portion of functional fitness involves working the entire trunk region as a whole rather than just training the abdominal area alone(this is known as core stabilization). The reason for this push is mainly because it has been shown that a weakness in our core area will limit the efficiency of all other working muscles. So the hope is that by engaging in the exercises that promote functional fitness we will improve the overall quality of our lives. Hope this helps clarify things

That's great news, Cathe

I adore kickboxing and can't wait to get back into it -- I trained to teach Body Attack back in April and am so excited to start teaching this program! Plus the "two-fer" effect should save me precious time.

As for me, I'm feeling pretty good physically (although I'm hating those weekly internal exams -- yikes!), but mentally, well, I vacillate between being sick to death of being pregnant and being frightened to death of having a baby to care for! I'm one week from my due date and depending on what day (or sometimes what hour) you ask me, I'm either ready for the baby to come right now or thinking "Well, August would be OK if it comes to that -- I can wait."

Thanks for asking, though.

P.S. You deserve every compliment -- you really are fantastic.

Cathe, a follow-up question

Hope I'm not being too nosy (that's a sure sign that I am!) but I was wondering . . . you said you went back to teaching your classes after 7 weeks. But when did you start back to exercising (and did you exercise and/or teach right up until you delivered)? And what did you do?

Of course, I'm assuming you didn't take those 7 weeks off entirely -- but maybe I'm wrong about that?

BTW, I can't for the new videos -- they look awesome!

Thanks. Hazel

Hi Hazel!

I started back to exercising when I started teaching at the seven week mark. Yes, I pretty much took those 7 weeks off because we were moving and I had so much to do. All of the box lifting and dragging up and down steps though was quite a workout. I did a few push ups and crunches before the 7 week mark but nothing major. Yes, I taught right up to delivery. My last class was on Monday morning and then I had my family shower on Tuedsay afternoon which is when I went into labor.

Breastfeeding and losing weight

Hi Cathe -

Thanks for sharing that very personal tid-bit
happy.gif

I found that BF kept weight on my body. I never experienced the wonderful "weightloss" effect. I had troubles anyway due to my separation from my daughter (she was sick for 3 weeks), and my cluelessness with how frequently I should pump at night.

I believe that even had you BF'd , you would still have that amazing body you have - because you work really hard at getting it!! Kudos to you.
I'm a year younger than you, and I did NOT bounce back that well - but I didn't do nearly what you did.

I'm pregnant again with my second, and probably last child, and since i'm not experiencing the ghastly sickness I felt last time, i'm continuing to workout.

You know - the last time I got pregnant and sick, the day I got sick was the day your "new videos" went on presale. I ordered them anyway, and they arrived shortly after I gave birth!

Hi Leela!

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I was reading (on another post that you replied to) about how sick you were with baby number one. Thats sounded like a really trying time in your life. Thank goodness that you are now having what sounds like to be a much smoother pregnancy. I'm very happy for you. Keep us posted

Thanks Cathe!

I think getting sick with pregnancy is extremely trying - but I was lucky in two respects. I got pregnant on the first try, and then I had a 3 hour labor that didn't hurt that much.

This time around, it took a lot longer to get pregnant, I had a few early losses, but the sickness is very mild.. i've been able to keep exercising!

I guess I now know that it really was worth it in the end. My toddler keeps me laughing most of the time with the funny stuff she does. I'm sure you and all other moms out there know what i'm talking about!
