i should have done a search in this forum before ordering from step n motion yesterday- because i didn't realize that the import fees for the UK would be so much! i ordered 7 dvds, totaling about $300!

any UKers out there have any idea how much this is going to cost me in customs fees? i'm soooooooooooooo scared....

thanks! -tana

When they fill out the customs form on their end , all they have to mark is "gift" and you shouldn't be charged anything. At least, when I sell something and it goes overseas, I mark "gift" and they aren't charged anything on their end.

unfortunately, what i understand from other threads in this forum is that this is not what step n motion does - apparently they mark the package as 'commercial goods' with the value clearly stated. people have written that there are exorbitant import fees charged by UPS (who i guess pays the fees on your behalf and then collects them from you).

does anyone have any idea what these fees will be? at least i know to expect A LOT!

Hello there,

I'm not sure how much help I am gonna be! I can tell you that I just made a perchase totaling about $110 and I was charged £25 import fees! I am so upset about having to pay so much every time I order a Cathe workout. I love them soooo much that can't not order any more but I have probably spent more on inport fees than the workouts themselves. I just wish Cathe would make her DVD's available in the U.K. There is a serious lack of good workouts over here! In fact, I was just about to have a moan when I read you're post. Anyway, I hope you don't get charged too much. Enjoy your workouts. :)

£25 sounds similar to the other figures i've read on this site from other posters. as my total was a little over twice yours, i'm hoping i'll get away with less than £60!

can i ask you: what's the protocal for paying? is it cash on delivery? or do they bill you later? and what forms of payment do they accept?

thanks for replying! -tana

Well, you can either pay over the phone (before the delivery) using a credit or debit card. Or, you can pay when they deliver, using cash, card or check. Hope this helps.

Hi Tina,

Hopefully someone experienced can jump in and confirm what I'm saying, but I *think* if you order from CK Sales in Canada (www.cksales.com), you do not get charged the exorbitant import fees. They carry all of Cathe's stuff, and preorders.

If I'm correct, then maybe you could cancel your order and reorder from CK Sales? They have terrific customer service and are a good company to deal with. I'm Canadian, so I buy all my stuff from them (but I'm not being paid for this endorsement :)

Hope this helps,
Sandra

Sandra- unfortunately, the order has already shipped, so i think i'm stuck with the import fees. will definately use CK Sales if i want to get Cathe stuff in the future, though!

Eva- that's very helpful, i just wanted to make sure that i wouldn't have to have cash on hand seeing as i don't know how much it's going to be.

thanks for everyone's help! -tana

Hi, I am spanish and when I discovered Cathe I ordered her workouts from SNM. I had to pay so much every time I ordered a Cathe workout. I spent more on inport fees than the workouts themselves. Later I discovered CK sales and now I order all my Cathe's workouts from CK sales. They have a fantastic consumer service and I don't pay tax or import fees. Yesterday I sent a email to CK sales because I wanted to cancel an order and I received the answer saying they have canceled the order in 1 hour.

A long while ago i ordered a dvd from Cathe.com and they sent the wrong one, i had to pay £19 import for one dvd! And it wasn't even the right one! I e-mailed them and they sent the correct one out straight away, but this time they marked the total value of the dvd as $1 meaning i had no import to pay. So they can actually do it if they want to, but it seems, from the times i've ordered from them, which in the past has been often, its that they won't not that they can't.
