Oh my aching calves!

I started a job in january that requires me to wear heels every day (ugh). Lately when I am working out, my calves cramp up severely, to the point that I have to stop and wait for the cramping to subside before I can move on with my workout. The change in footwear is the only thing that I think could be causing it. It happens at about 10-15 minutes into the workout (for example, mid-interval 3 in the Imaxes). I know there are lots of exercises to strengthen the front of the shins, but wonder if anyone has had a similar problem with their calves and has any suggestions (other than ditching the 2 inch torture devices ;-) ), thx!

Are your Achilles tendons doing okay? I know that if you wear heels too often, you risk shortening that tendon and running into problems. You can always put a lift in your workout shoes and see if that helps alleviate the pain. (Although that doesn't actually solve the problem of a shortened tendon, it might help the pain while working out, and you can add stretches to keep the tendon long.)
