Oh, MISS MICHELLE!!! Burnt Offerings...

Holy crapoli, I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! I watched it last night and couldn't tear myself away from it even to tuck my kids in bed... The entire cast was incredible and I LOVED THE ENDING!!! It made one of the first scenes - the one where the dead plant has just a little bit of green growing - make perfect sense. Thank you so much for recommending this movie; it is going down as one of my all-time thrillers and it will be on my Halloween list from now on. As soon as he pulled those glasses out of the pool... man, I knew it would be good! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Oh, are YOU who recommended it??? I am so sorry! I thought it was Michele.:eek::eek:

Yes, it was VERY creepy, oh my gosh! That hearse driver... He was kind of freaking me out. When Marian was looking at those photos I got a total shiver down my spine because they were all just so creepy. And Bette Davis's "I know I didn't turn on the gas... I just went in to tuck him in. I would remember if I did something like that!" She was absolutely fabulous!!!

You talking to me!? I was so confused because I never heard of this movie, so I was doing a search to see if there was another Michele who recommended it. It's not nice to confuse us old people -- LOL! :p :D

I know, I'm horrible!!! I should have looked up the old thread before I put my foot in my mouth. If I am like this now feel sorry for my poor kids who will really have to put up with it when I am older. :p But since you say you haven't seen it, let me be the one to recommend it to ya!

I just added this to my Netflix queue for Halloween! (and when I saw that Karen Black is one of the actors, it reminded me of the creepy "Trilogy of Terror" movie---where an uber-scary Zuni doll chases her around to try to kill her. I saw they had that one, too, so I added it to my queue as well!).

Trilogy of Terror? Add to Queue and Add to Top :)

Hey Missy! No worries. I remember Michele recommending a bunch of movies in that post. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I hope everyone else who hasn't seen it does. It truly is a "horror movie" in every sense. I was only 7 or so when I saw it and it has haunted me ever since.

Happy Early Halloween:)

ooh, i wish i could watch it! I used to LOVE horror movies but I just can't do it anymore. I get terrible nightmares every time. And now that I'm up nursing the baby in the wee hours of the night I get scared stiff and get scared to get out of my chair! LOL! I'm such a chicken!

OMG - I saw this movie when I was 12 and it scarred me for YEARS! It was that creepy hearse driver guy. There were many, many nights that I couldn't get to sleep thinking about him. Ugh.... I hope this doesn't bring back horrid memories!

I have the book and got it out to read. Won't finish in time for Halloween b/c I have no time for reading, but I'll get a good start! I've only had this book about 12 years...

Cr*p! I remember that. Like you said, it was a short, in a series with 2 other shorts. As I recall, she looked at the doll, read something about how you have to be careful with it, rolled her eyes, slammed the doll on the coffee table, then left the room to, like, deal with a whistling tea kettle or something. But when she slammed the doll something on it broke (like a belt with a bell, or something) and that released the evil spirit. Ooooooh, creepy. Yea, it's a vivid memory. Looks like I'm going to have to check out Burnt Offerings.

It was a necklace.

I remember the creepy sound the doll made ("digga digga digga digga digga"--but way scarier--with a gutteral almost growl) as it tried to stab her under the bathroom door with a heck of a big knife, and chase her around the house. It definitely left an impression on me, because I can still 'see' several of the scenes (and the big creepy gritted teeth 'smile' on the doll--yipes! I hope I don't have nightmares about him tonight!

Surprising that it was a made-for-TV movie.

Funny, but I have no recollection whatsoever of the other two segments of the film! I do know that Karen Black starred in all of them.
