October spooky fat loss

Good morning Ladies, I hope you're having a better week than me. I'll spare you the details, but working out is keeping the anxiety away. Monday was Flextrain in the a.m. and MM upper body premix with DH in the p.m. Yesterday I did PRS #2 and then PRS #1. I put an hour in between to run some errands. I love both of these step workouts, but I think #2 is my favorite. I'm going to try to squeeze in HR at some point today.

Diana, nice job on the long run! Good luck this Sunday, I'll be thinking of you. : )

Sue, how is the a.m. workouts going? I used to workout at night, but switched a few years ago to mostly mornings. It took a few months to get used to, but I'm so happy I switched. I hope your work schedule has improved, 12 hours days are too long!

Good luck on your HM Diana!!!!!!

This week was another killer work week, hardly any workouts but I did do an hour of turbo barre on Thursday, today did rock out knockout for the first time. I liked it but wasn't really getting the last segment (apparently I have two left hands as well as feet :). So I tacked on the abs section of lean legs and abs then did the stretch. I received lastics in the mail yesterday so I did a few minutes of that then decided it needs its own day, I'll probably do that tomorrow. I have noticed a drop in my mood lately which I think I can attribute to lower endorphins. Need to get my movement in :)

Diana I'm not a nurse :) I cut my hand on a broken glass once and got woozy from the sight of my own blood! I'm a web developer, normally keep regular hours but it's been so busy lately I've had to log extra. i have 1lb gloves, the kind with the sand. they work well for kickboxing type workouts. I used them for extra weight in STS the first time around then I bought pace weights and they're super convenient for increasing in small increments. What's your holiday meltdown class like?

Tina I hope your week got better :). You must be dealing with quite a bit because that's some serious workout schedule! I've failed so far at the morning workouts. I need to get out of the habit of going for email first thing. When you switched to mornings was it a gradual thing or did you force yourself to keep a strict schedule?

The weather has finally cooled down and I'm enjoying fuzzy socks, hot tea & open windows :).

Hi ladies,

I completed the HM and am glad it's over. It was not a very good experience this time around. This was not my first HM, more like my 7th. My first one was when I was 29, before I had my third child. The rest were done in my 30's. Due to multiple surgeries on my foot, I sort of gave up running on a regular basis years ago. It was quite difficult to give up running at the time, but I found other forms of exercise to take it's place.

Anyway, it was a pretty cold morning. They started the FM and HM at the same time and in the same waves.:mad: It was very crowded until about the 5 mile mark. I just never really warmed up or found my groove so to speak. They were out of water at the mile 8 water station. They did have water at mile 11 though which was good. I ended up walk/run between probably miles 8-11, which was also disappointing because I didn't walk at all during my training runs. I'm glad it's over and that I completed it.

Sue-I also work in the IT field. Morning w/o's were hard for me to switch too also. For me, it was w/o in the morning or not at all. With 3 kids, a husband, preparing dinner, homework, bathing kids etc.....well that just didn't leave any time to w/o. The switch for me was pretty easy. Holiday Meltdown class is a lot of circuit training, running stairs, pushups, burpees, pullups, suicides, walking lunges w/o overhead press jump rope, bosu, etc. It's done in the rec ctr. I also take a ViPR class. Not sure if you've heard of that or not.

Tina-how are you doing? It sounds like you've been under some stress as of late. Hope everything is okay.

Good morning Ladies! So far, this week is 100% better than last week, although I feel 5 years older than I did a few days ago. Nothing a hibernation break can't fix. (if only!) The weekend was two great bike rides and yesterday was the standing portion of GG and MM upper body premix. I'm going to attempt to do X10 X77 this morning, we'll see how far I make it.

Diana, congratulations on finishing your HM. I'm in awe at the schedule you keep! You are amazing! I hope you rewarded yourself with something fun. : )

Sue, how are the a.m. workouts going? It was really hard for me to switch to mornings, but now I love it. I get pretty grumpy when I have to wait until the evening to workouts in, which happened yesterday because of a.m. appointments. I was kind of a bear. I hope your work schedule has calmed down this week.

I'm getting excited for our upcoming STS round! With so many new cardios this time around, I'm really pumped for this. : )

Today was FT and XT SC. They go very nicely together. I love the warm ups for them equally. Between X10 X77 yesterday and this combo today, I think I've covered the push up/burpee quota for the week. Tomorrow will be something steady state for sure.

So what are you two up to this week?

Today was PRS2, premix #8. The more I do this workout, the more I love it. It just so much fun from start to finish.

I hope you're both doing well and taking the rests you need. Check in when you can. :)

Hi Ladies,

I worked from home today and got so much accomplished!

My weigh in...well I us up over 2lbs this week. The WW leader says this is very normal after my half marathon. At any rate, it was very discouraging. I'm still sticking to the plan so hopefully I will see a loss next week.

I finally got in some weights today. This morning I did CLB and at lunch I did GS BSB! UB was a real struggle. I can definitely feel that I've lost some strength over the last month or so. Nothing that STS won't take care of though.;)

I've been doing the October bodyrock.tv challenge since finishing the HM. They are circuit workouts. Not sure if either of you are familiar with bodyrock.tv or dailyhiit, or Zuzana (zuzka) Light, or ZWOW. Be for-warned that both of these ladies show a lot of skin, but their w/o's are good IMO.

Tina-I have yet to try either one of the PRS w/o's. Those will definitely be part of my STS rotation! I think they've both been previewed and look like a ton of fun. I also haven't done the legs & abs or glutes w/o's. I have a lot of catching up to do. I'm waiting for me knee to feel a bit better before I tackle stepping.

Sue-How do you like Lastics? I've looked at it several times and it looks good. I may splurge, stretching is something I need to do more of.

Off to the high school for the football teams Seniors-parent/player dinner!

Hi ladies. my morning workouts haven't been happening. this week I did lastics on Sunday and x10 step today (wiped me out!). todays workout was in the morning but not first thing. I'm going to try for another x10 tomorrow simply because they're so short. I need to figure out what to eat because I worked out fasted and got a little nauseated towards the end.

I really liked lastics. it is not a relaxing stretch and I actually had mild DOMS the next day. but I've felt great all week, more limber and my tight spots are loosened up. this will be my go-to when I need a good stretch.

Diana great job on your HM! Even though the experience wasn't great you have to take credit for finishing :). Will you be signing up again? I've seen bodyrock.tv on pinterest but haven't actually clicked through to check it out. maybe I will now.

Tina I'm so glad things are looking up for you :). I'm so impressed with you completing x77, way to knock rock the new workouts! I think I'm going to try prs2 over the weekend, I'll have time for rewinding :)

have a great Friday ladies :)

Hi Ladies,

I gave PRS2 a try this morning for the first time. It wasn't as fun as I was anticipating. I did have a few mis-steps but expect those will work themselves out the more I do it. I was hoping it would be more along the lines of Intensity or BM2. Of course this is my first impression. I need to get it down pat before I can give it a full rating.

Have either of you tried PRS1? I'm looking forward to giving that a try soon.

Tomorrow I'm running in a 5K. This will be my first run since the HM. It's too cold and dark to run in the mornings which is my preferred time. Oh well. I hope to also add on GS C&T. Yesterday I did CLB & GS BSB, and my legs are a little "DOMsy" today!

Sue-I've been working out fasted for years and don't have an issue with it. I can eat before weight training, but definitely not cardio. Perhaps a piece of toast with peanut butter would be good. That's what I eat about an hour before my long runs. Some folks do good with a banana or yogurt, but I need more substance or I feel sick. Oh, I did struggle a bit with one of the PRS2 combo's, I think it was 4 maybe.

Tina-wow, you are rocking all these new w/o's!!! Do you have Intensity? Do you know how PRS1 compares to that?

I'm at work...bbl...

Yesterday was SS and BC upper and lower only premix. I also added in the abs from LL&A. Today is a planned day off (I have a 12 hour cleaning shift today, so not really resting), tomorrow is hopefully a bike ride. We had our first frost last night, so we'll be digging out our winter kit. With each layer, our times get a little slower.

Diana, I do have Intensity, but I only do it very occasionally, as I find it very boring and repeatative. I do, however, adore BM2! I think PR2 is more like Step Blast. It takes three or four run throughs to get the footing down and the cardio factor up. PR1 is less intense, good for those days you're not feeling your best. I usually do the finished products twice, because that's my favorite part. I would love a mixed workout of just all of the finished portions of RS, SB, AS, BM2, LIC, and PR1 & 2. I can't believe your doing another race so soon, fantastic!

Sue, I had a major problem with morning nausea in the beginning. If I eat anything, I get a runners cramp, and with nothing in my belly, I feel sick. I finally discovered that one cup of coffee or tea beforehand was all I needed. The step portion of X10 is my favorite, it will go nicely with STS! : )

I hope you have a great weekend! : )

Another two days of not working out then I got back on the horse today. I went to do party rockin step #2 but only made it 20 minutes until I got tired of getting lost. I'm almost hopeless when it comes to step. I switched to x10 low impact and liked that a lot. it was easier than x10 step (IMHO) but still challenging. Then I went to LL&A abs - that section is a miracle. I hate abs, hardly ever add them on, skip them sometimes when they're included in a workout. But I've done this section 4 times already, adding it on to various workouts. My quads were looking great during the scissor type move. Perhaps I should notice more the things that are going well with my body - quads are definitely top of the list.

Tomorrow I get up early to start a couch to 5k program with my sister. neither of us are morning people but hopefully we'll be able to motivate each other to get going. After the outdoor adventure I'm going to look over my old weight sheets and do some 1RM testing in preparation for the next round of STS. I'm not going to do a ton of testing but I know there are some weight numbers that need to be updated.

Diana I'm probably not going to do PRS1, I'm all left feet! How did your 5k go? I hope better than the HM :). I will try some toast/PBS in the morning, thanks for the suggestion.

Tina if you did downloads you could blend up a custom workout to fit your preferences. I bet you'd love it! I've seen discount codes for as much as 30% off on downloads, plus a lot of the older workouts seem to be heavily discounted already. i went to have a cup of coffee yesterday before working out and wouldn't you know it my coffee maker died! of course I got sidetracked and never did get my workout in yesterday. I think you're right about x10 & STS - it'll be nice to do some add-ons if I'm not too wiped out.

Coming up on another busy week but I'm determined to get my workouts in regardless. Have a great one ladies :)

Hi Ladies,

My weight seems to be back down, thankfully. I leave for my trip on Wednesday and will miss my weigh in. I'm looking for another location that I can use to weigh in on Tuesday this week.

Saturday I did very hilly 5K. It was a fundraiser for a local school. I did it in 32 minutes which was great for me, especially considering how hilly it was.

Yesterday was GS C&T, followed the BR October Challenge Days 7 & 8. Yep, I was beat! This week I'll be doing days 9/11/12. I did day 10 first, when I first came across the challenge. Then I decided to do it and started at day 1.

Sue-not a stepper I guess. I've been stepping for probably 28 years and love it. My knee has been bothering me and stepping irritates right now. Yes, you should definitely focus on the positive..great gams is awesome! Hope you and your sister like the couch to 5K. We have that at my rec ctr and everyone seems to rave about it.

Tina-So you ride in the winter too??? You don't find it too dark, too cold, too icy etc? In Colorado I can definitely ride in the winter as long as their isn't any ice on the roads. Truth be told, I haven't been on my bike since the triathlon in August. BM2 Cardio Blast premix is one of my favorites cuz it does the finished portion twice before the blasts!

Finishing up my coffee before heading down for my w/o. Have a great day ladies!

Good morning Ladies, I hope you're both doing well. We managed to get a bike ride in on Sunday and for the first time ever, we somehow managed to get lost from each other. It takes talent to pull off such a boneheaded move. Thank goodness I didn't forget my cell phone on this ride. Monday was HSC (love, love, love this workout). Yesterday was RK, scrambled premix #2. This one gets better every time. Today is GG and tonight will be MM, upper body premix.

Sue, I am loving the abs section from LL&A too. Even DH is enjoying it after our bike rides, and he usually doesn't like the newer style abs. I hope your work schedule has eased up for you this week. How's your running schedule going? I should do some 1RM testing this week as well.

Diana, great job on the continued weight loss. I don't know how you fit in all your workouts while working as much as you do! We do try and cycle through the winter. My cut off is any temps below 28 degrees. Anything below that has a zero fun factor for me. It also needs to be dry roads for me, DH is another story. He'll cycle in just about anything.

My goal for the upcoming STS round is to try and not repeat any cardio workouts during the 12 weeks. I think with Amy Bento, Cathe, Michelle Dozois, and all the different spin workouts I have, I might be able to pull it off. It will mean dusting off some real oldies, but I like the idea of the challenge. I'm really looking forward to this round!

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday morning was the BR October Challenge Day 11 and this morning will be Day 12 in a bit. Both of you have mentioned the ab section is good on LL&A and I haven't tried that w/o yet so abs may be tacked on to the end of this w/o!

I made it to a weigh in yesterday and was down 2.4lbs, pretty much what I gained from the HM. :D Hopefully STS will help kick up my metabolism too.

The Holiday Meltdown class starts on Nov 4th. It's similar to my outdoor bootcamp but is inside. We do a lot of track work, stair running, intervals, weights etc. It's different each time which is what I love about it. I'll probably take ViPR too. Hopefully with weight watchers and kicking up the exercise I can get the rest of this weight off!

I leave today to go visit my granddaughters and their mom. I'm so looking forward to it! Amanda is the oldest of 6 kids and it's always nice to visit with her mom and grandparents and all of her siblings. It should be a really good time!

Tina-Definitely glad you had your cell phone since you got separated. That could be very scary. I still have so many of the new cathe's I haven't tried yet. I may throw those in during STS. I normally prefer to do legs twice per week and have really been missing out on lower body weight training. Honestly, I just w/o in the morning before work. On the weekend I try to hit both cardio & weights each day. Good luck with not repeating any cardio w/o's during STS, that's a lofty goal. I have my tried and true favorites, but not sure I could go 12 weeks without repeating.

Sue-so did you get a new coffee pot? I should've mentioned that I always drink 1-2 cups of coffee before my w/o's. I just don't eat any food. I need my coffee in the morning! How did the couch to 5k go?

Not sure if I will check in while I'm away. If not, Happy Halloween and don't eat too much candy!

Hi ladies! This week hasn't been any better for working out & I'm more stressed than ever. I bet a workout would help huh? I'm excited to start our round of STS on November 9th!!! But I've decided I'm going to take a little break from the check in until then. I'll catch up with personals when I check back in. Have a great week or so chicas :) {hugs}
