O/T What is your costume for Halloween?

If you dress up, just thought it would be neat to see what others are dressing up as. I didn't start dressing up, again, until 2 years ago when my DD started kindergarten. I've been the room mom for the parties. I thought I could get away with a nice orange shirt, but my DD informed me that I had to dress up. :7 Orange isn't my color anyway! LOL!

This year my DD wants me to be Mrs. Incredible. Wear tights to school, I don't think so! Some of the room moms are still talking about the mom who wore fish net stockings! What was she thinking?! I was a witch last year, but boy was I burning up in that costume!:-(

So, what are you going to be?

My daughter REALLY wants me to dress up when I take her out trick or treating this year. I'm not sure though. I don't know what I would dress up as. Her costume is already picked out. Appropriately enough, she's going to be a Diva Rock Star - the costume has blue snakeskin pants, and glittery top with feathery cuffs and collar, one of those headset microphone things. I told her she could wear a little bit of sparkly make-up too. She's over the moon.:)

She wants me to go as an Enchantress. Whaddya think?

I used to dress up on Halloween when I was a grad student: full make-up, costume, the whole thing. There was a certain contingent of folks at UW-Madison who did this, but it started waning my last couple of years there.

I used to dress up to teach when I first came here, but few of my collegues do (fewer and fewer), so I've gone from full-on costumes to more subtle stuff, like just putting on a "cat ear" headband and a cat tail. Which is probably what I'll do this year, too.

Halloween is big at my office. There's a costume contest and entire groups go all out. Last year the group who won were Snow White and the Seven Drawfs and went all out, including using brown paper to make their room look like a cave. It was cool.

This year, I'm thinking that the sales team should be a zoo (not too far a stretch of the imagination if you know any sales people). We'll all dress as animals, the bosses can be the zoo keepers, and we can decorate the area with bars and things like cages (Maybe do the cubes like "natural settings"?

Shelley - I think you'd make a stunning enchantress. I was thinking, however, that you should go as her agent. A man's suit, a fake mustache and a goofy hat ...

Shelley ~ Like this:

Whoa, trick or treating in those heels! :p My niece was a rock star diva last year. Cute costume.

I liked it when I could get away doing themes with they were littler, but can't now.

Kathryn ~ That's the way to get into the spirit! I wish more teachers would lighten up and wear costumes. Even if it's like you, a headband and tail. Do your students come dresses up?

Shelley, we want to see pictures!

Dallas - I'm not sure if that's what Sophie has in mind. She said something about a long, midnight blue cloak. Maybe this weekend we'll go and look.

Christine - that's a brilliant idea:) Take pics so we can see!

>I'd love to figure out how to be a "Desperate Housewife."
>Ideas?
>
>Thanks!

I think you'd first have to choose the one you want to be (Bree, Lynette and the blond, ho seem to be the easiest to find ideas for. Susan doesn't seem to be a good model for costumes), then base your costume on her. For Bree, for example, very uptight, rigid, conservative, maybe carrying a basket of muffins and a jar of poison (to show her two sides). For Lynette, a "frazzled mother" look, with food stains on clothes, carrying a "baby" (doll) that can cry, hair kind of rumpled. Or her "new look: a briefcase and suit, and that same baby on one arm.. For the blond one, a shelf bra to show your assets, a tight dress, more dramatic make-up, carrying some real estate business cards.

I will be going as a disgruntled employee. Actually, that's the costume I wear every day. The people in my office don't dress up for Halloween because they're boring. :p

LOL Becky!!!

:7 :7 :7

Along those lines Becky, I'll be a ballistic mama. Hair unkempt, crazed look on my face, ripped tee, holes in my jeans, a Glock on my hip... you get the idea.:) :p

Kathryn,

Your descriptions made me realize that the Housewives are a few of my alteregos! That makes it even tougher to chose who to be. Hmmm...

Paula

P Marie ~ Let us know which Desperate Housewife you decide on, OK?

Honeybunch ~ Oh, come on The Wicked Witch?!

Dani ~ That's a cute costume. I'm trying coordinate with my DH too, but he's Batman. I'm not wearing Catwoman to school! ha ha! We have a party the weekend of Halloween, too.
I hate to buy two costumes.

Becky ~ too funny!

Pinky ~ So, you're going to be Lynette from the Desperate Housewives?! LOL! What's a Glock?

Have fun!
