O/T - Hair issues

Does anyone else have huge problems styling their hair? I've tried about 8 million different hair "products" that are supposed to make it smooth and sleek, and I dry it, and then some days I flat iron bits of it, and it ALWAYS LOOKS THE FREAKING SAME. It never looks like it does when I leave the salon.

I feel like chopping it all offx(

Shelley, Yes! I hate my hair! Its thick and wavy and does what it wants, now I keep getting crappy haircuts and it just gets worse. I once went to Glamour Shots and the gal said there was nothing more she could do for my hair while everyone else was all done up, I felt a little cheated, oh well, what can ya do?

I just looked at the pictures on my desk and my hair has been about every color (colour?) you can imagine.

I got my hair cut on Saturday and I'm still trying to figure it out. Yesterday it was wavy, this morning, I straightened it. And I have a stupid colic that has a mind of it's own. x(

Howdy Shelley,

Yes--I have HUGE problems styling my hair. It drives me crazyx( . I have naturally curly hair and it used to look pretty good, but as I've gotten old(er) and my hair has turned gray, it's much harder to style.

My hair is fried from color treatments. (I'll stop coloring my hair when I die and not a day sooner). I have to use tons of conditioner after shampooing, plus more leave-in conditioner on top of that. I've been trying to grow out my layers but I may need to rethink that because I'm getting to flat on top;(.

I swear my stylist has magic fingers. She can do things to my hair that I can't. I do like to flat iron my hair too and then I take very thin strands and curl them up at ends and then under, going thicker, near face so it looks more natural. When I have a bad hair day, I just use these tiny clips and clip my hair to death so I don't have to deal with it plus it ends up looking pretty good. My hair has to grow out more before I can really get going the way I want to. I think of my hair the way I think of when I am cooking....just throw passion into it and really get into it and maybe you will be surprised at how well your hair ends up looking.

I usually hate my hair. It's not straight and it's not curly. I guess you could call it surly.

I fondly remember the late 80s and early 90s when you could get a nice BIG perm! Those were the days of no fuss hair dos.

The girl that does my hair was telling me about a new perm that is out now where the rods are different so you don't get much curl but more of a look like Charlotte's "messy hair" she had posted a while ago. I can make my hair look like that after spending ALOT of time on it so maybe I'll give the new perm a try in the next few weeks....

I am in the same boat. Ponytail holders are my best friend because it takes hours to make my hair look good and I, quite frankly, don't have the time.

Don't you wish that you could bring your stylist home with you?

Michele mine is the exact same way. I sleep in heavy duty conditioner sometimes. There is absolutely no styling it if I don't have conditioner in it. End of story.

Shelley, not only do I have about a million hair products, I also have about a thousand hair appliances. DH thinks I need to start a museum for all my hair dryers, rollers, curling irons, straightners etc.

My hair sucks. I'm thinking of shaving my head. Okay, not really. But I do get fed up with it a lot. Especially since I'm trying to grow it out a little bit, and it's at that awkward stage where it doesn't really have a style because it's "between styles". Maybe now is a good time to start wearing hats. :p

Emily, your hair is too cute! I wish I could get away with a short style & look as fun and fabulous as you do.
