O/T Do you watch any scary movies on Halloween?

That was a pretty good remake. I was just about to pee in my pants when the little girl was at the rooftop of the house. I swear I asked myself in that theater just what was I doing there & did I really consider it amusing to have the living daylights scared out of me.

Boy, I used to LOVE to watch scary movies, but now I am a big sissy. We ordered the remake of Amityville Horror on Netflix, and it came today. As soon as I got home from work, my DH was teasing me about it. So, after I put our son to bed and took my shower, I stalled for about another hour. Finally, I sat down to watch it. Yeah...my husband is still watching it, and I am on this forum to get my mind off of it. I saw bits and pieces of the first one, and it scared me to death. And, now, I have the crap scared out of me and I have no clue how I am going to sleep tonight. Man, that is scary-and I only saw the first 20 minutes! Ones I actually can tolerate now include Halloween (the first one) and Psycho. Ones that I CAN'T watch anymore include the Shining and the Exorcist (and as of now, Amityville Horror).

Hi Marla!! It just came on tonight. It comes on the UPN network. Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. Central time.

That Bloody Mary episode was creeeepy!

I believe they run it again on the weekends.

Dani...I like Supernatural! Quite bizarre...I agree about the Bloody Mary episode...yeow! Couldn't let DH watch the Airplane one though...with that creepy black stuff...As a matter of fact I can't get him to watch any scary movies!!

Not sure if any of you watched "IT" by Stephen King. Well DH has a problem with clowns and I totally forgot about the scary clown in the drains in the road....OMG..that might have been the last one he watched with me. But I have always liked the scary ones. Thanks for the ideas and maybe I'll watch on ALONE on Halloween...:)...Carole

My sisters & I did the same as kids Candi. That was one way my mom got us to sit still together & not be fighting & hitting each other.}(

My must see for the last few years is a 2001 flim called "She Creature" starring Carla Gugino and Rufus Sewell. Not a really gory film (it does have a few bloody moements)but a very, very creepy tale about a mermaid...and what they really lure men for.:)

I also enjoy "How To Make A Monster". This one is a blood fest. Both of these films are from the updated Creature Feature series.

Jen, the remake really is scary. By the time the movie was over, I was rolled up in a little ball in my chair. :7 And I have no idea how many times I threw my hands over my eyes. I'm surprised I didn't know myself silly a couple of times. :p

I went to the theater to see it when it first came out and the girl next to me kept jumping out of her seat, stiff as a board. If I hadn't been so scared myself, I would have found it difficult not to laugh.

Kelley, what do you think was the scariest scene in the Amityville? As I mentioned up before, the little girl on top of the house had me gripping my armrests in cold fear.

In my above post, I meant to say "slap myself silly." Too late to edit now.

Marla, I really can't remember the scariest part. The whole thing pretty much scared me. The scene that is stuck in my mind right now though was close to the end where the whole family was on the roof trying to get away from the father. And I was like, "hurry, hurry." :7 I told my husband that she was a better woman than me. I would have either left his @ss there at the house by himself and I would have shot his @ss when I had the chance. lol

My all-time favorite movie is The Shining - I could watch it over and over. I really like Halloween I and all the Hellraiser movies. But like Charlotte said, it is finding the time to watch them. By the time my 4 year old is asleep, I ready to crash too.

I love the Halloween movies...but just I and II!! The others....not so much!

I will say the scariest movie I have EVER seen was The Ring!!!! Still cannot think about it!!!

We always watch Fright Night! Also Evil Dead, Pumpkinhead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Legend of Sleepy Hollow. DH gets so psyched this time of year!!! He loves scary movies.

Great topic! I am not so much in to the scary movies as a Halloween tradition but I love to watch America's most haunted places/houses/etc. on the travel channel. Actually one of my favorite weekly shows is "ghosthunters" on the sci-fi channel Wed. nights 8-10pm est. I am more of a paranormal freak than a blood and gore person.

At the age of 18, I was traumatized by The Amityville Horror which I took my 15 year old cousin to watch on the big screen. I never watched another horror movie again. Funny thing it, TAH seems so silly now compared to some of the more contemporary horror flicks.

With that said, my idea of Halloween fun is silly movies like Hocus Pocus. I would like to see Johnny Depp in Sleepy Hollow but I'm not a big Christina Ricci fan. And, JD always reminds of Capt Jack Sparrow in everything he does even in Finding Neverland. LOL

Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, Amityville Horror and what is the movie with Damon.

Don't forgot the Freddy series, Nightmare on Elm Street. I think that on scared me the most.

I always seem to turn on Edward Sissor Hands with Johnny Depp this time of the year as well. For a laugh, Scary Movie I and II (pretty cheesy, but a few laughs).

We usually watch Rocky Horror Picture Show. My DH loves it and it's usually playing several channels. In any case, we own the DVD.

I heard the original Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis is great, and I've never seen it, but would like to. Do others like it? Oops, just read a bit more and I see that several of you really like it.

I agree with Pinky. Sixth Sense is a great film. Just love it.

I got the Simpsons Halloween specials from netflix... does that count? :+

Not much of a scary movie fan, but the one that always creeps me out is an old one: The Innocents. Not Halloween, but creepy anyway, and no blood or guts!

Amy,

My favorite Simpsons Halloween episode is the one where Mr. Burns and Smithers remove Homer's brain to transplant into a robot. Mr. Burns puts Homers brain on his head like a coonskin cap with the spinal cord training down his back and prances around chanting... "Look at me, I'm Davey Crocket!". I LOVE that!!
