Nuts! I gained 3 pounds!

I weighed myself at the grocery store today, the first time since May. I've been avoiding the scale because I haven't been exercising regularly. And since moving to my new workplace, I have access to more food than I did at my last place. So I haven't been great about my diet either. :(

So I gained 3 pounds and I'm sad. Good thing the heat wave is over and I can workout again every day! Now I just have to make sure I don't snag a "sunrise" muffin from the coffee shop instead of eating my oatmeal.

That's okay Donna. I'm sure you'll lose it. I managed to gain 4.5 pounds over the last couple of months due to just eating way too much junk. I started on Weight Watchers last week and I've already lost 2.5 pounds. Two more to go and then I would love to keep it going and lose another 10 pounds, but for now I'll be happy to just lose what I gained.

I am glad I am not the only one who worries about 3 pounds! My husband says, "you probably just have to go to the bathroom," if you know what I mean! Men can be gross sometimes!

There was a time when I used to worry myself sick over 3 pounds, but I take it in stride now. It does still bother me, but I take responsibility for it by acknowledging the poor choices I made, realize that it is there because of the choices, and modify my future behavior (exercise more, watch the junk intake). Does that sound like Dr. Phil?! I am sorry...I am a teacher on summer break and am catching up on Dr. Phil episodes this summer.

I just don't stress out about 3 pounds as much now...there are bigger fish to fry in life.

Don't worry about it...you have made a huge change in your life and all of your energy has been focused on that.

You will be back on track in no time and those pounds will melt right off.

If you're going to use the scale don't forget two things: weigh yourself first thing in the morning and use the same scale everytime. Grocery store scales (I'm thinking you mean one of those vending type that you put a quarter in, not the fruit weighing kind ;-) ) aren't famously accurate, and may not be calibrated properly...

Another thought is that if it really is three pounds, that's not such a terrible thing to come back from (maybe a week or two of clean living?) and may be a good reminder that it's the day-to-day decisions that make the difference, not any one big thing...

You have had a lot of adjusting with the new job (from your posts, it sounds pretty stressful) so hang in there and don't let this add to your worries. You know what to do and I'm sure you're doing it right now :D

If it makes you feel better I'm still trying to lose the weight I gained at the Cathe fitness weekend LOL... I'm still a 1.5 up from the trip!! I gained about 3 lbs solid from those three days. Go figure! :)
