Hey all! I met with the my CN last week and learned quite a bit about myself and a lot about food. She spent over and hour with me dicussing all the issues I have been having about my recent weight gain(of about 9 pounds over this past summer. The first really enlightening thing I discovered was that my bodyfat % is normal at 23%. She used a Tanita body composition analyzer, how accurate it is, I am not sure. Now I know for some that may sound high, but I was quite happy with that number....and the next bit of info kinda made my day. My fat free mass is 91 pounds, which she told me means, that if I did not have any body fat at all on me I would still weigh 91.....and right now on her scale I weighed 119. She was surprised, mostly people in my age and height group have only about 80 pounds FFM.....go little muscular me!!!
She said I was not eating enough protein, needed to add a lot more healthy fats(olives and avocados...yeah!!!)and to eat more and on a more regular schedule....at least every 3 hours.....yes that whole starvation thing is sooo true. I've following her meal plan and go back for another weigh in on Wednesday, when she is going to tweak the plan, depending on how I did this week. Another interesting tidbit was 3-4 additional pounds could be hanging on simply from the change to life in the desert.....your body fights to hang onto water when in a place this dry. And yes....that can cause your clothes not to fit anymore(yeah, I asked). So we shall see....I can say that I have never eaten quite so much.....my cravings for sweets and carbs aren't quite so bad. I'll let you know how it goes...
