Nutella, part of a healthy breakfast?

You people need to come to my house! I think we have three jars. I love chocolate, but for whatever reason, I have never tried the stuff. I sometimes send my kids to school with pb & nutella sandwiches, but now we have a "no nuts" policy so the stuff just collects dust here.

My husband is dutch, and another big treat at our house (not for breakfast, though I know some dutch do have it for breakfast) is chocolate sprinkles on bread. It drives me nuts because it's a big mess -- they go all over the place. They even have pink and blue ones (separate boxes) that are licorice flavored. Here's the stuff!

and I kid you not, these are listed under "sandwich needs". Yes, this is what they make a sandwich out of in Holland!

I know my ears perked up when I saw this commercial and heard "healthy"!! And then they went on to say only the whole grain bread is "healthy". Hmf!

I've never had it, actually. My son was asking me to buy it the other day, he had it over his friend's house and wanted it.

I have enough "issues" with the Marshmallow Fluff jar, I can't bring another JAR of GOO into this house!

Beth, that is CRAZY they eat sprinkles on their bread!! It's REALLY SPRINKLES!!!!

I've never tried it either. I'm not a huge sweet fan though, so maybe it's just as well.

It always makes me laugh to see people rave about it though. It must be pretty good.

I live in France and the stuff basically has its own aisle at the grocery stores. People LOVE it here. But you can't find peanut butter.

I don't know about France, but when I lived in Italy I was told by a bunch of Italian friends that they wouldn't eat peanut butter because they didn't think their bodies could digest it. I don't know if it's all Italians that think like that or just the group of friends we had, but I do know that you can't buy peanut butter anywhere in Italy.

I just saw a Nutella commercial.
If you pay attention, the "mom" was basically saying that spreading Nutella on healthy things makes her kids eat the healthy things (and that Nutella contains some healthy ingredients, like nuts and milk). Not exactly saying Nutella itself is healthy, but IMO, the average consumer wouldn't pick up that nuance.
