number of sets in STS

In Meso 3 Cathe does 4 sets of each exercise. Sometimes due to time factors I only do 3 of the sets. How critical is that 4 set??
 
I think it's important to push yourself, if able to do it correctly and safely, to gain strength. I have 4 more workouts in STS before I'm done iwth my first time through on the set. Myself, I have purposely increased weight and pushed myself further on this cycle.
 
IMO, 3 sets would work fine.

Just make sure that the last two reps of each set are tough, and that you choose a weight that has you hit failure (as in "can't do another rep with good form", not actually "can't finish this rep") or near-failure on the last rep.
 
Doing 3 sets is DEFINITELY better than not doing the workout, but doing the 4 sets I imagine is better than 3 and designed like that for a reason. That probably doesn't help much. The upper body Meso 3's are long workouts.

Maybe post this in the forum for Cathe, I would be curious to see her response or any suggestions too.
