Good Mornin Vilma! And all to follow!!

I'm so exhausted... dang! I went to bed exhausted and slept like crapola, and am still tired. It's "TOM" for me for 4 days, and this is what happens to me. I guess I should be grateful I don't have cravings, zits, and PMS irritibility any more. But ... wow, I'm tired!!!!

Vilma: Sorry your Chinese food meal out sucked! Hope your tummy is better... And oh man, I could use some of that Spanish coffee right now!! Does it travel well over the internet?? I agree that The Terminator and it's workouts are WAY more intimidating by their names. They really are good , FUN , parts of the workouts you love anyways, just put together differently. Now I'm missing Circuits again!

Joanne: WOW! What a deal on your weekend!! I love when things work out like that! Hope you find someone to watch your pootchie!!

Ivy: Hope your DD is better today. The poor thing. I hate when little kids throw up, they're so distressed by it too. And your DS sounds too cute!!

So, I went to the school meeting last night. It's a done deal. It's all planned out, and there's no going back. There were some great valid points about the college "taking over this town", but there's really nothing we can do about it. Except make sure it's a smooth transition with safety maintained for our children. I'm still pissed. I won't stop being pissed. But you can't fight City hall. Of course, it was poor planning by the city/school committee. They should really have seen this coming. But the entire panel of city officials and school committee officials would only say: "I'm new. we had nothing to do with this". So, next year the 4th and 5th grade moves to the Middle School with 6, 7 and 8. And my then 2nd grader will be sharing the Elementary school with college classes. Supposedly, separated by locked doors. ....Oh , and i DID raise my hand to voice my concerns, but was never called on! Yep, that "mommy power" sure comes in handy in situations like that. except they didn't let me use it!!!

Enough ramblings...

I have to take my youngest for his yearly physical and Flu shot this morning. And then I'll be back to do my WO: PS: BACK BICEPS & ABS. I might just end up doing only this, instead of adding cardio, and conserving my low energy...

BBL!!!

Hey Chris nice to see you!

Just got back from driving my 2 younger kids to school in horrible rainy weather; ugh I ended up slightly hydro planing twice I hate when that happens.

My tummy is still bothered by the food from yesterday so I'm dealing with it until it goes away. Just drinking tons of water.

Anyway just wanted to say how sorry I am about the decision concerning your boys school.

Having 4th graders in with the older middle kids would concern me. Before we bought our home a few years ago my older kids elementary only went up to 4th grade. They had to attend the middle school across the street starting at 5th grade and even then the 5th graders had their own building and were not allowed to go into the main building with the older grades.

Middle school as you know is when big things start happening to our kids... growth spurts , puberty etc

Would something like that be in effect over there as far as making sure the younger children have a good transition? 4th grade is sooo young to be mixed with the older kids. :(

Sounds like they only held that meeting to pacify some people to say yes they had an informational meeting; as the decision had already been made and the people in charge were just passing the buck by giving that excuse of being new - I would be pissed off too.

Well I need to go grocery shopping w/ dh in a few minutes and then do my workout.

DH really messes up my workout plans/times when he's off of work but this afternoon he needs to sleep to start his work week. So I'll do my kettlebells once he's in dreamland and I won't be disturbed.

Good morning all, and happy Friday!! Chris, I hate to say it, but ITA with Vilma on the 4th and 5th graders being in with middle schoolers. As I was reading your post I was thinking that that would worry me more than college with the lower grades! Having a 4th grader, I know I would not want him with 7th & 8th graders for very long, and I know a bunch of those kids, and they're nice, but, well..... they're in middle school! Ug -- it's just a bad situation, and I'm sorry you have to go through it! I also hope you can find more energy somehow!

Vilma, I must have missed something about bad chinese food! Yikes!

I did yoga this morning. I'm pretty sore from yesterdays kbells. My calves, of all things!

I am off on a field trip today -- going to be interesting -- I think there are not nearly as many adults as the teacher wants. Anyway, I won't be back til much later. Have a good one!

-Beth

Hi all! Today I couldn't get up the energy for Kick Max (thinking about those blasts!) so I did Amy's In the Ring and added on the leg conditioning drills from Kick Max. Just about every muscle in my arms and legs is sore! I'm still feeling the upper body workout I did a few days ago. I'm supposed to do Squeeze Stronger tomorrow, but I'm rethinking that if I'm still in pain!

Chris, that stinks about the school situation. I think things are a bit different around here. It's actually the norm for schools to be K-8 here. The city of Chicago's public schools are, although most of those certainly shouldn't be held up as examples of anything good. :( Also, most private schools are K-8. But, my suburb has grade school from K-5 and then they go to the middle school from 6-8. I definitely understand your concerns, though. There is a huge difference in the kids from 5 to 6th grade. It's a whole different atmosphere in the middle school where my oldest son is. That's just wrong how they decided the whole thing and then let the parents know without having any input. What grades are your boys in?

Well, Tully (poochy!) is staying with Grandma for the night. She doesn't have a fenced-in backyard, so I was a bit hesitant, but it's only one night.

Beth, where are you going on your field trip?

Vilma, hope your tummy is feeling better soon. I know what you mean, my DH messes up my workouts when he's off work too!

Hey again!

Just got done with PS: Back, Biceps & Abs. That's all I did and that's all I'm going to do. That was just right for today for me. I picked up another coffee this morning, with a shot of espresso, and that got me through the workout, but now I'm D.O.N.E. ... DONE.

I brought my youngest for his yearly Physical this morning, and then when i dropped him off, I asked if the Principal had a few minutes. This guy is so nice, you guys. He spent 45-50 minutes talking one on one with me. He's been this school's principal for 26 years and before that , taught there, so he's quite invested in the school and the kids. He convinced me (last night as well as today) that he's there to keep "his" kids safe and for their welfare, and I believe it. There are some beyond excellent and dedicated staff and teachers there and they do love those kids. In fact, the principal was moved to tears last night , talking about HIS 4th & 5th Graders leaving.

They also said the 4th and 5th grade would be COMPLETELY separated from the other grades. They will have their own floor (there are 2 floors) and their own wing. They will keep the elementary school times and ride their own busses and have their own entrance/exit, separate from the other grades. the elementary VP is going over to the Middle School with them, and will be there JUST for the 4th and 5th graders. (He's awesome too!).

My 7th grader (Zach) is pissed OFF though! He thought he'd NEVER have a little brother in his school again. He will be the "Sr" next year, and to have his little brother there is "demeaning". He's crushed! too funny, huh?

I hate it. I'm still angry and I wish there was something else I cold do to stop it. But I can't. they have the State Representitive and Senator in there fighting to stop it, and it's not working. The college is closed minded and won't bend.

I could type forever about it... I'm sorry!!!

So this afternoon, I'm going to put on some chili in the crockpot, do some cleaning and then my youngest made me promise to take him back to the Children's Museum after school today, again!

Vilma: Hope you get your WO in today! (I know you will! and enjoy !!)

Beth: Yoga sounds great! Hope your field trip went ok. My oldest went to (another) college today to see a play . He was so excited, mostly because they were going to eat at a "Buffet style" lunch place. Only my Diabetic son would be so excited to have a "buffet of food" in front of him with endless choices, I swear! I made sure his pump was FULL of insulin!

Joanne: So glad you found a sitter for poochy!!!! I do feel confident at this point they can keep the 4th + 5th graders separated from the older kids. And in the meantime (by the time my youngest gets that old) they will (hopefully) have a new Elementary school built (that's the plan).

it's cloudy and dreary out, I have cramps, and I'm having evil thoughts about food now....

Wish me luck with that!!!

HI ladies...

Chris: Sorry to hear the plans turned out the way they did. Stay away from the kitchen!! How funny...I had chili for lunch. I make it up and stick it in the freezer in servings...I just pull it out and defrost in the microwave..

Joanne: sounds like you got a great workout. My legs were sore from kickmax...Glad you have a place for the pooch..

Beth: How was that field trip? We haven't done one in a while. Hubby and I were talking about him taking days off work and doing family field trips to DC to museums and stuff. Looking forward to it..

Vilma: I am not fond of driving in the bad weather either. We stayed home today since we didn't have anything to do...Hope your tummy is better..

Checking in today with 4 day split bootcamp cardio and 200 walking lunges...Great workout...

Chris, glad you were able to talk to the principal. It sounds at least like he has the kids' best interests at heart. Our middle school has three floors, one for each grade. The grades are kept totally separate - even eat at different times, I think. I like that the 6th and 8th graders are separate - there's a big difference there, too. My son is in 7th, too. I can't believe it's almost time to start thinking about high school! EEK! Too funny about the buffet. Jameson (my oldest) has loved buffets since he was a little kid! I think he likes getting his food fast and having a choice of so many things!

Kathy, I'm thinking of doing that workout tomorrow instead of Squeeze. Glad to know it's tough (sort of!).

I'm at work and this day is dragging! Out of about 16 people, I'm just about the only one here. Fridays are always sparse around here.

Hello Buddies!

Today I did SB/SJP Premix SB and Weights #2 and it was great!!!! I sweated BIG TIME and I love that, lol! I’m not feeling well today. My throat is hurting and I’m feeling tired. I hope my DD didn’t make me sick, lol. She is feeling much better today and was able to attend school.

Vilma: Have fun with your KB workout! I will be buying Squeeze Stronger in like a week. I think you said you bought it too right?

Chris: Oh no! I’m sorry they still went ahead with their plan about the school. I can’t believe they are going to have college students share the school with the elementary. That is all a crazy mix up! I mean, how can they mix Elementary kids with College student, and 4th and 5th graders with middle schoolers! I would be VERY upset too. Why didn’t they ask the parents first to see if that’s something they think will be ok? I hope you have a good night sleep tonight and WTG with PS today! I didn’t sleep well last night either and looks like I won’t tonight either.

Beth: WTG on your workout and I hope you have fun at the field trip!

Joanne: WTG on your workout today! Have you tried Squeeze Stronger?? I want to buy it so bad! My mom is buying a DVD from me so that I can buy Squeeze Stronger. My mom is always buying workouts off of me, lol. She loves to workout too!

Kathy: WTG with 4DS BC, I really love that workout! WOW 200 Lunges!! I don’t think I can do that many, LOL!

Well, I’m going to get my DD from school now. DS just fell asleep while playing in his room and now I have to wake the poor little guy. I’m feeling like crap!! I think I’m going to be sick!! URGH! And DH is thinking of going to MS tomorrow morning, NOO!!!! I need him to take care of me!! LOL! Have a great night ladies!! Enjoy the weekend!

Chris I'm glad you had spoken to the principal about the situation. I'm sure he is probably upset and pissed about it too but has to be there for the staff, parents & 'his' kids to reassure them all.

Too funny about your oldest complaining about having to 'share' his school with his brother

That age is something else - eh? :p

Beth
have fun on the field trip.

Wow sore in your calves? You must have been locking and snaping good while doing those ladders :D

I need to get back and incorporate some yoga but the ones I have are over an hour long and I just don't want it to be longer than 40 m. Any suggestions?

I really enjoy my Yoga Zone Conditioning and Stress relaxation tape but that one is 60m. I always end up passing out on the floor in such a deep blissful nap and once I get cold I wake up lol

Joanne
How is In The Ring? I keep seeing it mentioned around here. Is that a cardio? Well I guess I could google it lol

Naw I need to stop buying fitness stuff I already spent my share of Christmas gifts lol

Glad grandma is petsitting for you guys - Have an awesome time at the waterpark!

Sorry your work day is dragging for you.

Kathy you are on fire! 4DS bootcamp cardio Plus 200 walking lunges Go You!

I really don't care to drive in nasty weather but I'm the taxi driver here and well its part of my job description. Its thundering, lightening, raining and so grey outside.

Ivy Sounds like you had an awesome workout today - good for you for working it good.

Ugh sorry to hear you are getting the crud too. Hope it doesn't last long.

I ordered Squeeze Stronger two nights ago and I should be receiving it here soon as its already been shipped out. Looking forward to trying it as its something totally new for me :)

As for moi ..... Kettlebell Way + TGUs + a round of extra swings are DONE!

Thankfully my stomach is doing much, much better.

I have to keep to a very bland diet as a doctor once told me I have symptoms of IBS... eh whatever. Seems anytime I eat something not from my regular diet I always end up feeling as if someone is twisting a broken soda can in my guts.

So I need to jump in the shower and wrap a birthday present up as my youngest is spending the night at her friend's birthday party sleep over. Once I drop her off I'm done with playing taxi for the day.

Oldest DD is at work but I know she & her bf have plans to go out tonight so it'll be me and my gamer boy, so I'm not going to bother fixing dinner tonight. I'll let him fix himself whatever he wants and I'll stick with my grilled veggies and sweet potato lol

So whats on the boobtube tonight? I may have quiet time to watch some tv or read a book ! Woo Hoo!

Hi All,

Chris, though the school situation sucks, at least you have good people in there making the best of the situation -- from the sounds of it anyway. Joanne, interesting about all the schools being K-8. In San Francisco, a fair number of the private schools are set up that way. Here, our middle school is on the same grounds, the principal is the same, but the schools are very separate. It's funny though -- every once in a while I will see a middle school girl walking there and I'll think to myself "Is that a mom? Is that a nanny? Oh my gosh, is that a student?!" Crazy!

The field trip today was at a mission in Santa Cruz. We had an absolutely perfect day! It was a beautiful place, and having grown up outside of California, I had my first lesson in missions, etc. It was very interesting! The park ranger who did the tour did a great job. Then there were stations outside for the kids to do things: tortilla making, candle dipping, and my job -- adobe brick making. Very messy, but very satisfying to get them out of the mold! :) It was two classes of 4th graders and they are all really great kids, but man oh man do my hats go off to teachers. I'm exhausted, I have a headache, and I didn't even ride the bus with them!! :)

Re: squeeze stronger -- I convinced my friend to buy it, and she did it this week (twice I guess). She has no 5 pound weights, so she did that bicep work with 8 pounds! Those of you who have done it know why I'm so amazed, I hope! So, ironically, after doing a year of cathe, she finds herself needing to go buy 5 pound weights! :)

I can't decide between kbell or squeeze stronger for tomorrow! Such fun choices!!

have a great evening everyone! I also don't have to cook much dinner -- hubby is suffering from stomach trouble and the kids are easy....... whoooo-hoooo!

-Beth

P.S. Vilma, I forgot to address your yoga question..... personally, I like the one hour, but when I'm pressed for time I find my flexible warrior to do wonders in as little as 20 minutes. I always forget which one I have, but I can check and let you know if you're interested -- the thing is, those dvds are not cheap, so you may not want to shell out for it. There are a couple of free video downloads of yoga workouts on itunes -- they are short -- maybe too short, but you could try them. Other than that, I'd say try some on netflix if you subscribe -- it's a great way to try them out. Yoga workouts seem so much more to individual tastes that it's sort of hard to recommend. I know what I like, but I have a feeling I'm strange! :)
