Noise while doing step...

Hi Cathe or Educated crowd,

Here's my problem. My workout room is located in my basement right underneath my bedroom, now I work out early in the morning and on days that my husband is trying to sleep in, I drive him crazy with the pounding of my feet hitting the Step. Is there anyway to stifle the noise some? Some trick? I'll try posting this in the open forum as well.

Thanks,
Linda

The only things I can think of would be to insulate the ceiling of the cellar. Another would be to use those stick on felts on the step and its layers on the contact points, caution, make sure the step doesn't slide on the floor when you get done.

Is your basement carpeted?
If not, try getting a rug or piece of carpet to put under the area where you are stepping. It should absorb some of the shock.

If you already have it, I'm stumped! :)

I wonder if you ran a fan on high near your step if it would muffle the sound. Melissa
