No rest day for me today. I did the first four kick/punch combos from KM, GS: BSB, and some abs. I did the stretch of KM, but I paused the DVD in the hip flexor stretches and I held them for one minute (there are 3 or 4 stretches for the hip flexors in KM) and I also held the cat stretch longer than usual (about a minute also). I read that when hip flexors are not stretched throughly that can hurt the lower back and it made sense because weeks before I was having lower back problems I was getting cramps in my hip flexors (sometimes I woke up in the middle of the night to stretch them because the cramps were awful). The beginner's yoga workout I did on Wed helped me a lot with my pain. Today I did the jumping jacks of KM (carefully) and the side kicks are getting better too. Like I said, I'm being careful, of course, but my back feels a whole lot better after that yoga session I did. I definitely have to add more yoga to my rotations and hold my stretches longer on those days I don't do yoga. I'm also learning that although I'm a high impact freak, it doesn't make a difference on my body to exercise without it. I don't have an impact resistant floor so I think doing more low impact is better for my joints when I'm exercising at home. When I can afford it I think I'm going to join a gym again so I can benefit from the flooring. I'll definitely take lots of interval training classes when I do that.
I hope you ladies have a nice loooong weekend. Labor day weekend already?! Wow! It's unbelievable!
