No sweets - Last week of January

Yoo hoo ladies where have you been? I didn't see a new check-in for this week so I started it again. I've been doing my workouts and eating as clean as I can. My weight has been the same for the past 10 days or so (almost three pounds less than in the beginning of January) so I'm guessing now it's for real and I will probably won't gain those back if I keep doing what I'm doing. I will know for sure how much I lost on Thursday. Have a nice week and remember NO SWEETS!

This is it...this is it..The last week of the challenge. I feel so good just knowing that I have worked hard at this. I definitely know that I have reaped many benefits from this. I look forward to eating clean and healthy as we wrap up the first month of the no-sweets challenge.

^5 right back at ya!

Today I've been struggling. I had some vanilla ice cream and apple sauce with cinnamon. I kept the portions small though. It's going to be really hard for me this week because that time of the month is near, but I will try to control my portions.

Monday was okay. I had an all day meeting and they were serving breakfast and lunch. I hate breakfast at home because I knew they would have pastries, donuts, etc. and sometimes you never know if they would have some fruit and I didn't want to be tempted by the sweets. They had a variety of sandwiches for lunch. I had a sandwich, pasta salad and water. I skipped on the chips and cookies and sodas.

I did a part of Drill Max today (Tuesday morning). It was my first time doing that workout and I like it. It is definitely tough. I only did about 45 minutes because that is about all I have time for during the week.

I am feeling so proud and the challenge is not even over yet.

I can't say I had a no sweets day today either, but I didn't go crazy. I would've blown my diet in a minute last year though. I'm finding that I'm getting my sweet cravings satisfied with just a bit of sugar when I need it. I'm getting cravings now because like I said my TOM is near, but I don't get cravings like I used to. We've been doing this for a month now and I've learned that I can control my cravings for sugar on most days of the week and have cheat days instead of eating something with tons of sugar and no nutritional value every single day just to satisfy my cravings (or should I say addiction?) However, I've had too many cheat days this month and hopefully I can have fewer cheat days as we continue with the check-ins.

Catherine, sometimes one rest day turns into two. That happens to me often. From Monday to Thursday I can't workout as long or as hard as I would like because I don't have the time or the energy, but I push my body really hard from Friday-Sunday and I make up for lost time. :p

Affirm, Drill Max is one of my new favorites. 45 minutes is better than nothing at all. You go girl for finding the time to exercise! If I'm super busy I normally take an unscheduled rest day and resume my workouts the next day.

This is the last day of our first month challenge. Let's make it the clean eating day as we close out.

Rose, I get up at 4:15 AM to exercise during the week. It is hard, but if I don't get up then, I will never have time to exercise. My DH is even exercising for the first time and he gets up shortly before then so he can he can leave for work by 5:30. I have the 2 children duty in the AM and then head to work--so yes, it is a challenge getting the workout in. I used to say if I didn't have an hour everyday to workout that it wouldn't help me to lose weight. Now, I just workout regardless if I have 30 minutes or 40 minutes, it doesn't matter as long as I am stepping and lift weights with Cathe. That is why I love her premixes so much because it gives me a thorough workout in a shorter period of time. When I exercise, I feel good. Rose, I hope to be able to enjoy a small treat every now in then during the next month challenge.

Today, the last day of our challenge,I weighed 141 pounds. On January 1st, I weighed 147.5 pounds. I don't like to weigh under 140 pounds, so next month will be interesting as I try to figure out how to eat reasonably with sweets.

WOW ladies, we've almost made it thru our first month!!

Affirm, I am so impressed that you get up so early to workout. I applaud your committment!!

As far as results from cutting back on sweets (I say cutting back cause I cheat on weekends)I have noticed less abdominal bloating. I had gotten on the scales a couple of weeks ago and lost a couple of pounds. My goal really isn't wt loss, would just like to lean out some ( so I can see more muscle definition). Esp in lower body.

Anyway, Feb here we come!!

Fitfairy, I know what you mean about less ab bloating. That is truly the main benefit for me when I eat less sweets/junk. My normal weight range for several years has been 140 to 142 and that is where I like to keep it. Last year it started creeping up and ranging between 145 to 147. My goal now is not additional weight loss, but to see less fat in the lower area as well.

Watch our February!!!! I had planned to bake myself some homemade oatmeal raisin cookies at the end of the challenge. I hope to find time to do it in the next few days. I want to reward myself and start to learn to eat a treat here and there and in moderation. This may be harder for me than no sweets at all.

Fit fairy, no I haven't tried the cookies with splenda/sugar, but that is a thought.

I started the morning with Power Hour. I hope you all have a great day.

Good morning ladies. It's February! Well *the* day was yesterday and today is my second day of that time of the month and it's the toughest. I did not exercise yesterday and on Tuesday (I got PMDD and therefore awful symptoms when TTOM comes) but today I will exercise and the rest of the week too. My final results of the challenge is that I lost 3-4 pounds (I can't say for sure now because I'm a little bit swollen, you know how that goes, but I will know on my Sunday weigh-in). I've been cheating like a maniac for the past two days too, but I'm getting back on track today.

I think we did a good job on our first month. I can make a few improvements though.

Congratulations on your weight loss Affirm. I'm slowly but surely getting at my goal weight. Hopefully by the summer I will be there. :)

Today I had 2 scrambled eggs and 2 slices of whole wheat toast and grapes after my morning workout. I had salmon and ceasar salad and grapes for lunch. I had baked chicken, rice and green peas for dinner. I did have white rice. I don't like brown rice, even though I eat it sometimes. If I have white rice, I just try to eat much less than usual.

I am looking forward to continuing the challenge. I haven't decided how I am going to modify the challenge yet.

Affirm, I read somewhere (don't remember where) not a huge difference btn white and brown rice so I wouldn't sweat it. Looks pretty darn clean to me.

I stopped by my fav restaurant on my way home to pick up a salad for dinner. And low and behold sitting in their dessert display was my fav dessert- tiramisu  What to do?? Cheat today, early? Oh I was so tempted, but alas I passed the test. I came home with no tiramisu!! Then I really got an attitude and didn't want to workout. Again, I prevailed with strength. My yoga workout is over!!
Man what a day!!

Hellooooooooo! :) Today starts my getting back on track weekend. I was lazy this week, but I'm glad it's already February.

Affirm, I prefer brown rice, but I eat white rice once in a while. I prefer complex carbs and whole grains (and my body too! :) )

Tiramisu? YUM!!!! Catherine you were strong. I was so tired yesterday that I had to skip my workout. I went to bed really early and I slept about 10 hours so that tells you how tired I was. I started February with a clean diet so my lack of exercise didn't affect my weight at all. I'm going to be really busy this month so I just *have* to make time to exercise on my tight schedule, but I'm definitely eating cleaner because I don't want to gain weight. I also plan to lose at least 3 more pounds this month and it's going to be hard.

Have a nice weekend ladies! Stay strong!

Rose, I think it's a good thing that you respect your body when it tells you to rest. I've learned to do that now. Although sometimes I have to decide if I am truly in need of a rest or just lazy :)

So far today has been clean. I am feeling bloated though and having what feels like trapped gas pains YUK!! Don't know where that came from??

ETA: forgot to say did S&H C&B this morn followed by cardio only premix from cardio & wts. That was a nice workout!!

I've done workouts like that before Catherine. Those are the best. I came back to post that I don't think I can check the forums until Tuesday night or Wed so please one of you needs to remember to start the check in. I'll come back to post in a couple of days.

Now I'm struggling with trying to find time and energy to exercise. My diet has been clean, but I've been working a lot and when I get home I just don't have the energy. I'm going to be really busy in Feb so far (it'll slow down a bit after that), but I don't want to slack for a whole month. I need to come up with a plan. I admire Affirm for getting up at 4am to exercise, but I wake up at 5:30am and I just can't see myself waking up earlier than that. I'll come up with something. Be good this weekend! :)
