No sweets check-in - week of January 1st

I would like to join. I read this thread yesterday and didn't join but I am ready today...so count me in. No sweets today!! I was tempted but praise God I didn't give in.

Hi. I'm Cindy and I'm new here, although not really new to Cathe. I had surgery earlier this year and had to stop working out for months afterwards, and several months before that. So it has been about a year since I really worked out 5 or 6 days a week like I used to. I am beginning my Cathe workouts again tomorrow morning, starting with Body Fusion since I need to start slow.

I'd like to join this challenge too since sugar is my drug. I already blew it once today by eating a small bag of animal crackers, but the rest of this day I'll be good. My full day count will begin tomorrow. :)

Hey ladies!! Debated about whether or not to join in. I am sort of trying to do this no sweets thing, but not completely. So my plan is to cut down on simple carbs. So far so good. None yesterday or today. Now I do want to be able to have a cheat treat or two. That' per week, not per day LOL!!

ETA: Marie, I know what you mean about feeling like crap. Carbs do that. And carb withdrawl is no fun either!! x( x(

Well I'm PMSing so I definitely cheated today. *hangs head in shame* I had juice, crackers, cake. Small portions but still... I need to get back in this challenge 100%. Tomorrow is my rest day and I better not start eating crappy food again cause I'll have to post it here.
 
So far so good today. Just hoping I keep going that way. Didn't do so good last night though, as I had a *few* chocolates. But today is a new day with new determination.

Day 2 and counting. Another poster said that it takes about 4 days for the body to go through its sugar withdrawal. There is truth to that! I ate clean today although I've caught myself starting to grab a "little of this" and "a little of that." Before you know it, it would have been a whole lot of nothing. But I did have 1/2 of a square of ghiradelli dark chocolate.

And I'm still hungry...:9

Rose, I am glad blackberries don't count!!! I have been exercising to Cathe for years, but did take a break off recently. I was thinking in the line of what you were recommending. I am focusing on my cardio this week and will add the weights next week, however, going lighter than usual until I get back in the swing of things. One my heart and muscle regain it's memory, I will get around to the new workouts. I am not in a hurry to try those since my old workouts are like new since I haven't used them in 8 weeks.

How often is the check in---is it daily or weekly?

I'm doing it daily. The no sweets check-in last year was daily, but if someone couldn't post a certain day when they came back they posted what happened on the days they couldn't log in to the forums.
 
I'm trying to check in daily, too. Yesterday was an incredibly clean eating day for me (first in a very long time) and I felt really good when I went to bed last night. I do think I ate too many cals, but that can be adjusted. Anything feels better than those awful highs and lows when your blood sugar is so out of whack.

I am going to check in daily! It will help me stay accountable to the challenge. Yesterday was a good day for me... I think I am off to a good start today. My Mood this AM is GREAT! Got to go and run 45min on the treadmill. I will check in later

Morning Everyone

Yesterday was truly a SUPER clean day for me, :9 I am proud to say, Nice!! I wish I could say that this morning, It’s crazy tho, I got to work this morning and while rumbling through my desk I found one hidden heresy kiss, I was like hello and before I knew it I popped it in my big mouth, }( }( :p :p afterwards realizing what I’d done duh! Couldn’t take out my mouth it dissolved really fast lol lol :p :p

I’m really doing good, cuz; I am a chocoholic in the WORST way, man oh man I eat this stuff like breakfast lunch and dinner,:p :p okay it’s onward and forward, right. Keep up the good work guys.

So far so good for me today. Breakfast was oatmeal with walnuts and splenda. Snack- kashi granola (no sugar, but natural sweetners). Lunch- grilled chick with no mayo and an apple. I really want to do good all week so I can have me some tiramisu this weekend:p :p :p

ETA: don't know what's for dinner, but I think it should include some veggies!!

Another good day for me, too. Today was my first day back to work. My boss always has a jar full of chocolate and I wander in there several times per day...not today! Another bad habit that needs to be broken!

I ate fairly well and every few hours, which is key for me.

I slept through my alarm, but I am off to workout right now!!

Jenn, I have the same problem you do with sweets at work. There is a jar full of chocolate that I pass oh about 100 million times a day. I keep telling myself how gross it is. Nasty nasty stuff, how dare they have it there. It's working so far two days without touching it. I just finished my big salad to get in my veggies today. So doing good. Will probably have airpopped popcorn for snack tonight.

Teddygirl, next time just call me and I'll drop kick that hersey's kiss right out of ya :p :+ :p

ETA: I think this is the longest I've lasted in this sort of challenge LOL!!

another good day for me, wooohooo! dinner today wil be extra lean steak and mixed vegetables.

It is day 3 of no sweets and clean eating for me. I make sure that I pack healthy snacks and lunch before I leave for work. This really makes a difference for me when I prepared for the whole day.
 
Checking in... :)

I did well today. I started the day with a glass of fresh juice (made with my Jack Lalanne juicer) consisting of broccoli, an orange and a pear. I poured the juice into my blender, then added a handful of blueberries and blended it all together. It was sooooo good. I later ate a Larabar (raw fruit/nut bar). Early afternoon I had more fresh juice from a juicebar near my office. Late afternoon I had small pieces of grilled chicken, a bean salad (variety of beans with bits of tomatoes and onions), and a baked sweet potatoe with nothing on top. When I arrived home I wasn't very hungry, so I had a bowl of air-popped popcorn (no butter, very little salt). I might have to go to bed early now because I have a feeling I'm going to become very hungry if I stay up late, and I don't want to eat then! :)

I'm trying to eat a lot of fruit and veggies after my bout of eating junk foods a lot during the holiday season.

Wow I'm so glad you're all doing so well. I can't say that for myself yet. That day of the month is approaching so is really hard to fight off cravings, but I'm still trying to control my portions. Today I had some ice cream and a piece of candy. Ugh!x( Getting better with the junk, but not the way I'd like to. I'm anxious to get this over with so I can start eating 100% clean again.
 
So far so good today. Oatmeal with walnuts for breakfast. Organinc unsweetened apple sauce for snack. I forgot to pack my lunch, so I don't know what that'll be x( x( Plan for a protein bar mid afternoon and no plan for dinner yet. I really need to start planning my meals it goes much better that way.
