How is everyone doing today? I'm going to a Father's Day/birthday thing this afternoon, but I shall confound them all by refusing the cake that will inevitably be there.}(

I managed to make it through my Mom's anniversary yesterday without resorting to cookies or sweets. Once again, the shadow of you ladies looming over me saved me! Thanks:)

Glad you made it through Shelley!

So far today all I can say is the day is young! I will do my best though!

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone is having a great day. We went to eat at IHOP today. My day hasn't been too bad as far as sweets, but I will admit that I had some sugar for bf. My stepdad ordered these pancakes with strawberries and cool whip on top which I confess that I ate a little bit of it. Well I have told myself that the rest of the day is sugarless.

I have had some slip ups that last week, but it is making me aware of what I'm doing and to not go overboard. But I am going to try to make the rest of the month sugar free.

Congrats! to all of you who have been sugarfree today.

Good job Shelley!

I just got back from the weekly dinner at my MIL's house. She got an ice cream cake for dessert. I served it up to everyone and my MIL kept asking me why I wasn't having any. I didn't feel like getting into the "No Sweets Check-in" thing with her, so I told her that I was full.

So doesn't DH start in on me. Now he knows about the no sweets for a month thing. He's telling me that I'm hurting his mothers feelings by not having any dessert. So, Fathers Day or no Fathers Day I tell him that I've devoted nearly three weeks to this and I'm not blowing it now to make his mother happy. Let's just say he dropped it after that.

Why is it that people just can't take NO for an answer?

Tammy - People can't take No for an answer because they see your self control as a comment on their lack thereof. It's ridiculous and petty, but it's often the reason. But your MIL isn't the one who's doing this challenge, you are. So good for you that you didn't have the dessert. And if her feelings are hurt over something she didn't even bake, well, tough patootie! }(

Shelley - Great job!

I had a Viactiv calcium and a Viactiv multi-vitamin today. Chocolate flavored, yes, but I thought I needed them. :)

THAT'S IT!!!! Thanks Luna!

Hi everyone,

Has anyone seen any visible differences in their appearance by doing this no sweets challenge? I've been virtually sugar free (well, I did have a couple of pieces of chocolate last month and a few chocolate covered strawberries this month) since May and have noticed several changes in my appearance. My tummy has really shrunk. Also, I can see muscle definition in my arms! Lastly, my energy level is really high. :D

So, anyone else seeing benefits of being sugar free?

Lorrayne -

I have noticed that my energy levels are higher...I wish I could say I was seeing a flatter tummy and more muscle definition...BUT - good for you though!

Tammy

The only benefits I'm finding are: 1) my cravings for sweets are diminishing a tad, 2) I'm eating more fruit, and 3) my skin stayed clear through TTOM. Sadly, my tummy is the same size and my saddle bags still have me looking like a pack mule. :-(

No sugar for me today, but I am consuming more... TTOM.... ugh... I have about ten days from now to get through when I consume more than a normal human being ought to be able to. Trying to stay away from sugar though which is not something I've done in the past. The peanut butter will probably not be safe. I am going to try to get a handle on this as part of my own "private challenge". It can be overwhelming at times, it seems to take on a life of its own!! Wish me luck.

I have noticed a big difference. My tummy is shrinking and I have definition in my arms, too! I can also feel more definition in my legs, but much of it could be from the running that I added about a month ago. I have only taken one day off from running.

We walked to an ice cream store tonight and the kids got ice cream. I wasn't even tempted and ice cream is usually my big downfall. This challenge has made me stop and think about all of the sweets I normally consume. In the past it has been entirely a habit to have a handful of Cheese-its or several Hershey's kisses, and of course to order ice cream for myself. I honestly have always said that I work out so much simply because I have no will power. I have proven myself wrong! I have given up sweets before, but have only made it a day or two and no more than a week ever!! Thank you ladies for helping me overcome this!

Hello ladies. I have to confess I've been eating sugar (but I try to keep it under check). I'm under a lot of stress this week (stupid job!) I couldn't workout today and I can't workout tomorrow either. I'll get back on track on Tuesday. Meanwhile I'm trying to be good with my diet. If I get sugar cravings I only have sweets in moderation. I'll be back on the challenge 100% starting on Tuesday :) I hope you all have a great week.

Hang in there, Becky! Before you know it, you'll see your tummy shrinking. I'm a tad slow in the metabolism area so it took nearly 2 months before I saw a change. But, now it's starting to really show!

That's great news, Earlyexerciser. Congratulations in not wanting to have a bite or two of ice cream. :)
