No Sweets Check-in - June 16, 2005

Well, we've passed the halfway mark now! I had the bag of cookies open last night. I resisted AGAIN. However, I found out that we're going to my SO's sister's on Sunday for his father's birthday. There will be cake. I'm trying to decide whether to eat it or not. If I don't, his poodle-like stepmother will probably have an aneurysm from trying to figure out why.

Shelley -

They can do amazing things with aneurysm victims these days. }(

I am definitely having cake AND ice cream on Saturday for my daughter's birthday. I've been waiting 369 hours so far for that moment (but who's counting). I would suggest having a piece if it looks appetizing to you and you're hungry for cake. If you're doing it out of obligation or it doesn't look appetizing, then skip it!

I can't believe we've all gone this far! Good thing you picked one of the "shorter" months, Shelley!

I can't believe how well we are all doing! Does anyone know the thing about forming a habit? Isn't it something like if you do something for 21 days consistently it will become a natural habit? What if we are all so good at this that we are hardly ever tempted again!!??

Hi everkyone,

Shelley let your stepmother do what she want, like it was said eat the cake if you want. I have learned you can't please everyone.

I think this challenge has been good for us. Like also said, we might go on and not want sweets as much. Maybe eat in moderation, but not at all. I hope everyone figures out what next months challenge will be before I go to the beach. Please keep these challenges coming.

Wouldn't that be awesome? I'd be a like a superhero - "More powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound and able to turn her nose up at cookies whenever they're offered!!".

I also forgot that it's DD's school picnic tonight. A lovely selection of foods will be available - hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and a big dessert table. Ugh.

The cookie that does not tempt you makes you thinner.

Ahhh, yes... the dreaded family (or practically family) get-together, which always includes unhealthy things in addition to the aforementioned cake. ;)

Last night, DH went out to Dairy Queen to get a Blizzard, and I told him *gasp* that I didn't want one! I can't believe I uttered those words. But I did! (Next time though, I am having one!) I ate some sliced fresh peaches topped with walnuts instead. They were very good!

My in-laws are coming to visit us for the 4th of July weekend, and DH made the comment that since they would be arriving the day after his mom's birthday, that we should bake a cake for her. My first thought was "Oh no! I can't have cake!" But then, I realized that the day after MIL's birthday is July 1. So I said, "Bring on the cake! And make it VERY chocolatey!" }(

Lunacat and Shelley that is just to funny! My cravings however are coming back full force. I want a muffin and i want some peanut brittle and yes a homemade cookie. Hopefully these craving will pass. I never really ate a lot of sweets before so maybe that is why I am craving them. We all talk about them so much now :) I feel like how an alcoholic must feel! :)

Luncat,
I PM'd you that, ahem, little recipe we talked about. I just happened to "stumble" across it...but I refuse to be held responsible for the consequences. By the way, whole book--filled with similar recipes in similar batch sizes. Evil, evil, evil...

Went to the movies with DH yesterday and I snuck in chopped veggies and an apple. I'm to cheap to pay for the junk they sell anyway.

Question: Are ice-cream cones off limits? Not the ice cream, I know that is (for some of us anyway, Emily:9 --Can you hear the jealousy?) But just the cone itself. I love them, and I was thinking of filling it with frozen fruit whipped up with soymilk, or just fruit.
No I am NOT desparate, take that back!

I NEED A COOKIE!!!!!x( }(

are you all convinced? can I have one? I neeeeeed it. This could be a matter of life or death! :p

Mattea - I think the cones are made of mostly sugar. But check the ingredients. That sounds really delicious.

I want a cookie so bad right now, it's not even funny.

Mattea-

I received your evil PM and have marked my calendar: July 1st = Cookie Day!

I'll try my hardest to forget that cookbook exists.

At lunch today everybody was eating cookies and ice cream right in front of me. I gave them all dirty looks and then got a salad and some applesauce. I hope they all gain weight. x(

So, it would be a bad thing for the poodle-like stepmother to live in suspense?? Sounds to me like that's reasons enough to resist that cake. }( :p }( :7

The past couple days have been pretty good for me. I resisted the temptation of homemade pie yesterday. whoohoo! It was hard, but I thought of all of you and found the strength. ;)

13 1/2 days and counting...we can do it!!

Connie

The poodle like stepmother would cock her pouffy haired head to the side and say in her high pitched annoying voice "But Shell, I thought you LIKED cake...." and then look at me with that incredibly vacant expression.

I've used that method to form a good habit in the past, with very good results. In fact, I was thinking about this challenge and this method just this morning! Freaky! Personally, I'd love for this to become a habit. I've felt moderately out of control when it comes to sweets for quite awhile...and I really don't like that! I want to be in control of the sweets I eat- be able to make a wise and rational choice to eat X or not. ;)

Connie

Ohhh, THAT kind of stepmother. Ugh! Sigh...It can be hard to "play nice" with family-like people. This is easier said than done I realize, but do what's best for YOU and don't worry about what she thinks. ;)
