No Sweets Check-In - June 12, 2005

Cathlete
Morning everyone.

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday. Had a busy day with DD. I did post in yesterday's thread that I had a hard time yesterday, especially since I baked for DD and her friend, who was over to play. Banana cake. I managed to not eat any, and I avoided the cookies.

Day 12. I never thought I'd make it this far without at least a cookie!

We'll see how today goes. It's raining so we may be stuck inside a lot. I can hear the voices better when we're inside:p

Good for you Shelley! Aren't those playdates hard. I always bake for them, too. So, far this month we've only had one and then I gave them ice cream bars.

Put on your headphones! LOL!

This weekend has been really good for me too. Even went to another b-day party last night. Oh, did the cake look delicious! Nobody in my family had any! Did I tell you guys that my dh's family celebrates all b-days! So, cake gets kind of old by the middle of March. Today is the big chrismation, so I'll try to be good after church. I kind of don't want to ruin my record!
:)

Though, I did check out my health bar, Balance Trail Mix (I think that's the name) has 12g of sugar. Does that count? I use those for afterwork outs or between breakfast and lunch.

Woo hoo, day 12!

PS - Happy Birthday Terri!!!!!

Good Morning!

Sundays are VERY hard for me. We eat a big family dinner at my mother-in-laws house every Sunday and she always bakes something for dessert. So hard to resist.

I am going to need the Cathe Tribunals will power today!

Tammy

Well I have put that DQ blizzard behind me and starting a new day. I was thinking last night like how in the world can I go to a shower and resist cake and my friend wants to go off and talk and we end up at DQ. But that is water over the bridge. I have done great compared to if I didn't join this challenge.

Believe it or not I just got out of bed, and it 11:08. We didn't go to bed till 3:00. So I haven't had a thing to eat yet. I don't know whether to eat bkf or lunch.

Shelley it is great you resisted that cake, you go girl!

There's nothing sweet in my house. I don't need to go grocery shopping, so I won't have the urge to cheat at the store. There are no planned cake parties at work this week, so no temptation there.

Strangely, I have no urge for sugar but I'm also starting to feel slightly depressed. Could it be from the lack of sugar? Am I losing the will to survive without sugar? Could it be that PMS is just around the corner? Hmmmm. I think I should go lie in a dark quiet place for a while until I feel more like myself.

You all are doing great and I applaud you for your hard work.

After the brownie debacle last evening, I am recommitted. No more sugar, I hope, until July 1. I am going to tell my family, anyone that I am consistently around, about my no sweets challenge so maybe the next time I have a "senior moment", someone will remind me.

I had two chocolate dipped strawberried after dinner last night. It doesn't count though as it was my birthday celebration dinner with friends:) Let's see how I do today since I know I can cheat if I want!!! HEHEHEHE

Terri

I made it! If I made it through today, I can make it through anyday. Dessert involved Italian pastries and cookies that some visiting relatives brought up from New Yok City. Let me tell you, they looked SOOOO GOOD! It doesn't get much better than Italian pastries and cookies from the City.

I had a lovely piece of cantaloupe instead. I can't believe I didn't cave!

Tammy

I do not like fruit or vegetables, but I have been eating pineapple during this challenge! It tastes pretty good! I have also had a banana as a snack here and there. This challenge keeps out the bad stuff, but it also forces me to add in some of the good stuff!

Another day almost down! 12!!!

OK, made it through our lunch without any goodies! I really do have the kids (all 7) to thank for that. The kid's food came out first, so they were done before ours came out. So, they were on dessert before we were. By the time all the adults finished and ready for dessert and coffee, the kids were done! Whew, that was a close one! You know I didn't even feel like cheating with their cookies or brownies because I felt if i were going to cheat it would have to be something really good!!!!

The Chrismation went along just fine except I wish I understood Greek! He cut my hair three times! I guess I needed a little trim!;-) It was part of the ceremony, but I forgot all about that part.

Glad to see everyone is doing OK, too.

I meant to ask if you want something sweet what have you been substituting? I've been buying fresh pineapple and cutting it up. It seems extra sweet these days or else I lucked out twice with a "good" one. Also, the cherries have been really sweet, too.

Well I made it through day 12. I ate tons of fruit today, especially when I would think of sweets. I have been substituting watermelon, grapes, oranges, and nectarines. I glad it is monday tomorrow and the weekend is over. I am more tempted to eat bad on the weekends, because more functions are going on.

Hope everyone had a good day.

Ok so I was asking for a cheat day and it was today --my little brother's wedding--...Ok here we go confession time...They had strawberries dipped in chocolate (among other things but chocolate is my weakness) and I had half of one strawberry dipped in milk chocolate and coconut, half of one strawberry dipped in white chocolate and coconut, half of one strawberry dipped in both white and milk chocolate, one whole strawberry dipped in white chocolate and almonds, one whole strawberry dipped in milk chocolate and almonds and a very thin slice of cake with frosting. Dinner was pretty clean though and I didn't have a glass of anything other than water. Oh my! Well those are my sugar calories for the week I guess. Tomorrow I'm doing Kickmax (thank God!).

Oh Rose, that sounds so good...thanks for sharing. Can you tell that I am drooling? Excuse me, I need to go and wipe the drool off my chin.

Funny, I hear the voices when I'm out of the house. :p

I was out of the house all day yesterday. However, I resisted eating any sweets. Whoohooo!! I'm feeling strong, and I'm liking the momentum I've got built up.

We're all doing so terrific! Almost half way thru June...we can do it!

Connie :D

Tammy, good for you resisting those Italian pastries and cookies. My dh's family make all the Greek desserts for big family celebrations, which we tend to be doing a lot these days.

Did you freeze any of them? Who had those chocolate dipped strawberries? Well, at least fruit was involved! lol!

Dallas

You know I think that as a group we are sending some fruit farmers kids to a pretty swanky college!:D :9
I need a new stash b/c I love apples, but I love blueberries in my fruit salad even more!

haha! Sorry. Can you believe that was the only "healthy" thing in there? I had to ignore the hors d'oeuvres and then I saw the "fruit" tables and that's all they had chocolate dipped everything! bad bad! They were delicious though. I guess I had my monthly treat last night.
