Hello ladies. I hope you had a great Easter. Today I ate a couple of things I wasn't supposed to eat, but I will count that as a cheat day and move on. Today I did power yoga level 2 with Baron Baptiste; an oldie, but a goodie. :) Well my vacation is over so I go back to my normal routine tomorrow. Have a great week!

Hi Rose11~

I haven't been the check-in, in a while..wanted to stop in and say Happy Easter ~ hope you had a good one!!

Today's eating was just awful, I did get about 1-gallon of water in today, maybe that is what caused the scale to go up tonight...LOL
Today was a cheat day for me also...LOL

Tomorrow I start BFL (BodyForLife)program. I am hoping I can stick to it this time around. I am trying the free-style weights for UB & LB, but I'm sure that won't last too long since I just love Cathe's DVD's!
I am considering using just my body weight for my LB workouts...It's seems like in the last month my thighs are getting bigger. I did get the Bar Method Dvd's and I love them!!!
I heard some people just use their body weight and had better results. Have you ever tried this?

Hope you day went well...Take Care~

Hello ladies! Jennifer! Nice to see you posting again.

Just another manic Monday...

Today I'm doing a short cardio (not sure if it'll be CTX or not), CTX: LL, All Step (shoulders, abs & stretch). I am loving the results I'm getting from CTX! Catherine you need to try this. I made a couple of changes to the rotation I posted awhile ago. Mainly to the cardios because CTX cardios are too much impact when you do them one after the other. At least for me. I'm keeping the order of the body parts though legs with shoulders, chest with triceps, back with biceps, and I'm working them twice a week. I did yoga yesterday and I'll probably add yoga some days when I feel like it. My diet has been ok, but could've been better.

Jennifer, I've tried doing exercises with my body weight (mostly with Pilates moves years ago) but that just wasn't for me. I prefer to lift as heavy as I can without losing my form and I always do cardio when I weight train. I do vary the tempo and the rep count every couple of weeks. I'm doing a high rep rotation with CTX at the moment and I will do GS (which is completely different to CTX) in a couple of weeks. In my case I can lift heavy without bulking up if I always do cardio (even if it is a short 20-30min session) and if I change the style of lifting often. Women don't get big muscles in a matter of months like guys. I think that when we bulk up is mostly water retention or just that the muscle is a bit big and the fat around it just makes it bigger. Of course that's my opinion. That's why I always do cardio. :)

I did a weigh-in yesterday and a body fat reading. I lost only one pound in a month so I didn't reach my goal for March, but I take a body fat measurement every 2 months and compared to 2 months ago I lost 3% body fat so I'm sloooooooowly getting to where I need to be.

Hey all!! Back on track today with eating. Lets hope it stays that way.
Jennifer, lots of people claim to get great results with body wt exercises. Sometimes I think it takes some experimentation to see what works for you. Maybe try the free style for a while and then go back to using wts for a while. I like to alternate what I am doing. BTW P90X has very little wt work for the lower body. When I did my rotations I didn't feel like I lost anything in the lower body.

Rose you have me intrigued by your rotation. I may have to try it with some modifications. I don't care for the step routines in CTX too much. But we'll see. Maybe I just need to pull it out again and try. IIRC the step routines are kind of space hogs??

And Rose WTG on your results!! 3% BF loss is awesome!!

Today I did GSL with chinups and a few pullups and LIC abs.

Catherine, in my opinion the cardios of CTX are too bouncy and they do take a lot of space. I love 10-10-10 and I do it often, but I'm not too crazy about the other cardios (love the intensity, but hate the impact and the amount of space they can take). I also think that doing All Step followed by LL can be too much. If you try the rotation I posted I think that you can skip the cardio on those days you do LL or maybe do a short cardio that's not CTX. I'm seeing results on a short period of time because of the weight work not because of the cardios. The rotation can definitely be modified by simply doing 30 min cardios of your choice and they don't have to be from CTX. I think you should leave the weight work as is and try to lift as heavy as you can handle while maintaining your form. I don't think I'm going to do this rotation for more than 2 weeks either because it is very demanding, but I guess I'm seeing results because my muscles are working in a different way.

Good Morning, Ladies ~ :)

So far so good this week on my eating. Yesterday was my son's 16th B-day and I even stayed away from the IceCream Cake :) It was my 1st day on BFL, so I really didn't want to mess it up.

Today's workout calls for LB. Since I am already bored to tears w/ FreeStyle, I think I am going to start doing Cathe's Pyramid Dvd's instead. Last night was Step Blast workout blender, Blast 2 times. WOW, what a workout, I done this one before, but last night it seemed to hit me harder, maybe b/c I did it on a 8in step, vs. 6.

My meals are planned for today; How's it look?
B- Protein Pancakes w/ S/F Syrup (1/2 Oatmeal, 1/2 CC, & 3 Egg Whites, dash of Cinamon).
S- Yogurt & Cottage Cheese
L- Fish, Brown rice, & Salad w/ F/F Italian
S- EAS Lo-Carb Van Protein Shake
D- Chicken, Veggie, & Potato

Take Care - Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Rest day for me today. I'm definitely tired.

It's so hot and humid in here that yesterday I wore jeans and a cute top to work and today I wore a black sleeveless tank top and wide leg linen pants in white. As soon as I arrived today people were saying how "skinny" I looked. I said: "are you kidding me? You saw me 10 days ago and I was still the same weight!" It has to be CTX because I'm pretty much the same weight I was before I left for my Easter vacation. However I'm noticing some changes: my clothes are fitting looser and I see some definition in my shoulders without flexing my muscles, but no changes in the scale. I have to stay strong so I can lose the last 10-15 I need to lose to be at my weight range, but meanwhile I'm seeing nice changes.

Jennifer way to go on doing step blast on an 8". I use whatever height Cathe uses (except on the first Body Max, Interval Max, and sometimes MIC where I use a 6").

Catherine, I agree about skipping cardio (or doing something non CTX) on those days you do LL. I hope you give this rotation a try in the future, even if it's just the weight work and do something else for cardio. I think it's a challenging short rotation.

Hey ladies!

Today I did S&int (cardio & chest), 10-10-10(triceps) and S&int(stretch). I've been having a hard time with my diet due to lack of time, but I will make the necessary adjustments in a couple of days.

Jennifer, btw the meal plan you posted looked good. I always like to know the calorie amounts of everything I eat though especially with the snacks which I try to keep at 100-150 cals each.

Did you read the news? Cathe posted she's going to film in June wow! I'm kind of bored with my current workout DVDs and I can't wait to get new ones.

Hey all!!

OK, I have really got to tighten up on the eating. Either I am bloated or gaining wt in the belly. Either way YUK!!! I haven't been terrible, but I guess while I was sick I consumed alot of carbs. They really seem to bloat me up. Does anyone else notice this??

I did IMAX2 today and B&G bonus abs. Tomorrow is supposed to be rest, but I may workout anyway. I leave for Vegas a week from tomorrow. So I may just workout everyday till then and take my days off while I am gone. We'll see how I feel.

How's everyone doing??

Hi Ladies ~
How is everyone?
Day went well, clean eating ... :)

Meals for today were;
B- 4 Egg Whites, 1 whole egg, 1 slice W/W toast
S- Eas Lo-Carb Bar - Brownie Chocolate chip
L- Turkey burger, brown rice & green beans
S- Strawberries
D- Fish, veggies and w/w bread

I'm not to great on counting calories, so I just go by portion sizes and hope that is okay. So far, so good. I do the fist/palm method for portion control. I actually lost 2 pds since being on the diet, down to 115.5 ~
I was a little concerned b/c I am 5'6" and I don't want to lose too much weight. Per the folks on BodyForLife Forums, they said that losing weight the 1st week is normal. I was thinking maybe I should up my carbs, but they said everything will come into play for me, not to worry about it.

Tonight was HIIT - I did the warm up portion of KPC, and then finished w/ the Power Circuit portion of Cardio Fusion...Good Workout !!

Good job w/ Imax 2, this is one DVD that I do not have....I heard it was her best out of the Imaxes. Isn't that funny, I have my rest days once a week, and I usually end up working out because I feel guilty laying around. I know it doesn't make sense... :)

Take Care Everyone ~
Have a Great Night!!!

Hey ladies I was working late last night so I couldn't check in. I took an unexpected rest day also because I didn't have time to workout. I got home late and I was really tired. In fact I took a shower and went to bed right away. I slept about 10 hours! So that should tell you how tired I was.

Jennifer, you're the weight I will never be lol! You probably look awesome. I'm 5'4 1/2" and I've been fluctuating from 135-140 these past few months (now I can't tell you how heavy I was back in Jan 06) so for me that's quite an improvement. I'm pretty much hourglass shaped but I hold a little extra inches in my hips (39-40 at the moment) with a small waist (around 27, 26 on a really good week). The doctor said that for my frame my weight range is 123-135.3lbs, but since I carry a lot of weight in my lower body and I tend to have problems with my knees and ankles he would like to see me go down to about 125. Getting there is becoming harder and harder as days go by. My body is also somewhat muscular. My quads and calf muscles are very defined. Every time I wear clothing that shows my legs people ask me if I'm a competitive runner. I only do Cathe and yoga and sometimes I get my cardio outdoors, but I don't have a gym membership so I guess my legs look like that thanks to Cathe. I still can lose my last 10, because there's room for improvement, but wow is it hard! I also don't look like I weigh what I do, people (including doctors and nurses) always guess 120. My bf% is also in the normal healthy range but I would like it to be around 17%.

Catherine, I've been cheating like crazy this week. I gained about 1.6 pounds from Sunday to Thursday! I have to stay away from simple carbs, starchy carbs, and high glicemic foods. Otherwise either I get bloated and gain water weight or I get cravings all day and all night and end up eating more calories than what I need. We need to get back on track starting this weekend. I hope you have fun in Vegas and try to find healthy food to eat over there. You're going to have lots of temptations and you can always have a treat or two, but remember that you need to stick to your diet. }(

Rose, I hear ya on the starchy carbs and high gycemic foods!! That's my problem right now!! I've not been doing terrible, but that weekend of being sick sent me down the wrong road LOL!!

I have been lazy today. Yesterday was a rest day, but it seems as though today may be one too. I still may get up, but don't feel motivated!!

I got a new hair cut and color today!! It's darker (more my original color) and very short!! I like it, but DH doesn't x( Oh well!!

Jennifer, you are doing so well!!! I wish I had your discipline. Oh you must get IMAX 2. It is my favorite step routine. Tough, but fun!!

Affirm, I hope you are having a good vacation!!!

Today I did CTX Kickbox (cardio) + PCircuit (back) + Kickbox (biceps) + PCircuit (planks, abs, and stretch). I didn't want to workout at first (I've been eating a lot of junk food and I get an energy rush for about 2 seconds and then I want to sleep). I didn't want to rest another day so I decided to get off my big butt and exercise according to my schedule. The first 5-10 mins were hard, but I got the hang of it and ended up finishing what I had planned for today. Starchy carbs and high glicemic foods is all my body craves when I'm stressed out. I guess I need to learn how to replace those with whole grain foods and complex carbs. I know I've said this many times, but I'm glad you're here to pick me up when I cheat on my diet. I know if you weren't here I would have gained all the pounds I've lost since Jan 06 and then some. My problem is not working out because I love to do it; it is my diet and I know it's around 80% diet and 20% exercise when you want to reach and maintain a healthy weight. I need to get back on track starting tomorrow!

Jennifer and Catherine, I hope you have a great weekend.

Affirm keep enjoying that vacation!

> Oh well!!

What doesn't he like? Is it the length, the color, or both?

Two weeks ago I got a new haircut and I wasn't so thrilled about it, but now that my hair is a bit longer my hair has settled and it looks awesome. If it is the length, I bet that in a couple of weeks it will look a lot better. The color is another thing, first of all, do you like it? If you like it then he'll get used to it. If you don't, well, you can always change it, or have it glazed so the color looks shinier, without harming your hair. I've read that men like when their woman changes her look once in awhile (not too often though), but they like the changes to be subtle i.e. they still want you to look like you and not another woman. :)

Hey Guys ~

Well today, is a not so clean eating day. This is my Free Day on BFL (Done WEEK 1 - Yay!!!)...
So far I had 2 doughnuts and (2) 20 oz coffees w/ Extra Irish Creme :9
Since being on the program, I lost 2.5 pds and very little (I mean very little!!) in my measurements.
No workout planned for today.

It's been a busy day. We are working on fixing/cleaning up our house to put it on the market. Things went really downhill for us since my BF sold his Pizza Res. Money is really tight, it's depressing. We are probably going to rent for a few years and go from their. Right now we own a TownHouse, on top of our mortgage they soak you for a $220/mth Association Fee... It's Nuts! They don't even do what they are supposed to do, I never had clean sidewalks this year through all the snow. I called and complained a few times, and it still took them a few days to come out ....GRRRRRR... :x
So for venting, WOW, I feel better now.... LOL :)

So, what does everyone do for a living?
I currently work as a Credit Analyst for a big Construction Company. I only been their 6 months, but I am loving it. The people and my supervisor are great, I couldn't ask for better.
My dream job would be to get into something Fitness wise. Maybe one of these days...
Take Care - Hope you have a great weekend!!

Hey Jennifer!!! WTG on week 1 of BFL. Don't worry the incehs will come off.

Sorry to hear about your rental woes. It really sucks when things don't get done x(.

Today I did GS CT (that I was supposed to do yesterday ) and C&W step timesaver. Feeling pretty good right now.

Jennifer your job sounds interesting. And boy, what a differnce it makes to really like it. I am a nurse practitioner and I work in a dermatology practice. I love it. I was a nurse for about 12 years before becoming a NP and then did family practice for 6 years before finding dermatology. I also love the people I work with. It makes such a huge difference.

Hey ladies. Today I did power yoga.

I'm glad you both love your jobs, I don't hate mine, but I'm not in love with it either. I work for a small company that does educational software for schools, companies, and some government agencies. The reason I don't love it is because I love to help people and in my job I'm always working with computers and numbers, which is fine, but I would like to do something that helps people directly. My division is in charge of mathematics and sciences. I also go to school part time because I'm going back to school to get my masters in engineering and I need a couple of courses before I go back. My background is in computer science and mathematics, but I'm going to get my masters either in computer engineering or electrical engineering. I would like to use my knowledge in a job that's related to medicine and fortunately there are a couple of areas that are now relating engineering to medicine and I'm going to give my best to end up working in one of those areas.

Ever since I was a teenager I've been in love with make-up, fashion, fitness, and everything that's related to beauty. Lots of people tell me that somehow I'm going to end up in that industry, but I love books and numbers so I guess engineering is for me (at least for a couple of years :) .)
